  1. The writing for Stannis was awful and very confused, and as was often the case with D&D, they struggled to hide their disdain for the character. It's a shame Stephen Dillane blames himself because he did the very best he could have done. The Dragonstone group could have been so much stronger and more compelling than they were, much more than overexposed show ponies like Tyrion and Arya. The shocking writing for them in season 5 is one of the reasons I quit.
  2. I think the two or three Twin Peaks fans here may be the only ones who know him. (unless there are a lot of Prison Break or iZombie fans here) He was one of my favorite parts of the revival. I guess it's another reminder that real life is not the same as a fictional character. The irony is that he played a character who is usually extremely misogynist and abusive to women, but on the show was not.
  3. I've thought that for a long time now. There's a great deal of smugness and self-satisfaction in many who go on and on about this - because they "know" that they will be saved and go to Heaven, because they are good people, while everyone else is damned.

  5. Seann William Scott. I hadn't though of him in years. Looking at him used to give me the creeps, although that's just based on seeing him onscreen, I know nothing of him in real life. Routh seemed like a real nutjob and a mess when he was on OLTL but he seemed to turn his life around and I have enjoyed what I've seen of his work on the CW shows. I would hope he's clear of it, but I guess we never actually know these people though. This year has taught us that, along with many other terrible but important things... In other news, MSNBC has dumped Sam Seder after a 2009 tweet about Polanski. I read at AV Club that there was a big push from the alt right to make this happen. Given the right wing bent of NBC News, I can believe. https://www.thewrap.com/msnbc-will-not-renew-contract-with-contributor-after-roman-polanski-rape-joke/
  6. I don't remember if anyone mentioned it, but Gary Goddard, who is close to Singer, recently took a leave of absence. http://deadline.com/2017/11/gary-goddard-leave-of-absence-sexual-assault-allegations-anthony-edwards-1202215425/ If this is coming i guess it was coming for Singer no matter what but I do wonder how much Anthony Edwards coming forward had to do with it. If he's really throwing things on set then it makes me wonder if he was spiraling out of control for a long time. It makes you wonder just how much power he has in Hollywood. Clearly not that much if he's being fired, but enough to get through what a lot of directors wouldn't have, especially since he's never really been a huge box office director compared to some, has he?
  7. That case confuses me because it stems from actions that started when same-sex marriage and benefits were still illegal in Texas. http://www.statesman.com/news/supreme-court-rejects-texas-case-gay-marriage-benefits/QWgUz5GV9ktKz1rTC3tIeI/ I do agree with the person they quoted who said this will lead to more anti-gay laws about benefits and marriage, but to be honest I think those are coming anyway. The "good" thing, if there is any good in this, is I think Republicans are going to lose a lot of seats in 2018, which is one of the things that helped stem the tide of some of the awful stuff that likely would have passed early in W's second term when state legislatures and the "value voters" BS was tempered by Democrats doing much better in state races than expected in 2004. The baker case is the one that worries me most of these two, although I've always thought that the baker would win. I'm more worried about the language of the ruling, especially from that new hack on the bench.
  8. @EddieAWHP is this one that you have shared with people or had in your collection? I can't remember 100% if I've seen it before as this time period had the same scene so many, many, many times, but I feel like I haven't seen a lot of this before (like Tracy on the talk show). It was uploaded by Bill Boggs, who played the talk show host. This seems to be mid-late July 1980, but I can't guess a closer date.
  9. Honestly I wish Comey could just not get involved after everything last year.
  10. Thanks! I should have remembered.
  11. Robin Cousins - he was a judge on Dancing on Ice in the UK for years (not sure if he will be back with the revival). I'm glad they won't just have Easy pine over Ringo.
  12. Is this Holland Taylor in the Nestle ad around 15 minutes in? There's also a Gimbels ad at 6 minutes where I thought I saw Terry Davis but it goes too fast to tell.
  13. I know this is Rita McLaughlin in this commercial at 21 minutes, but who is the husband? He looks so familiar.

  15. Simon is Mr. Matt Bomer (outside of Hollywood, anyway). Matt was nearly cast in Singer's Superman film.
  16. Reading the comments on the Deadline article apparently this is a common thing for him while filming...? If so he's lucky to have had such a long career.
  17. It's going to get even worse with Corrie, as
  18. He shouldn't be anywhere near anything involving Freddie Mercury. I'd like to believe this is some statement from the universe... If anything does happen with him then I think we're going to see some real heads start rolling. I'm a bit concerned about who a few of them may be if rumors are true.
  19. I had a lot of problems with this show, many of them revolving around Patrick and what they intended him to be vs what he actually was (not even getting into the Richie pairing and the treatment of Richie as a character and my feelings on that), but it always breaks my heart a bit when I see Jonathan Groff interviews and he talks about how hurt he was by the harsh rejection of the show. I'd say it made me second-guess how naturally critical I am, but I'm not a very nice person, so it didn't. But it did make me reevaluate a lot of what I felt about his work in the role, and it makes me a bit sorry they never got more time or closure for an ending. I have a feeling I never would have agreed with the show about an ending anyway, due to the Richie issue.
  20. This is probably about Danny Masterson.
  21. Kate Oates only cares about shock value and misery and unpleasantness. She manages a few good scenes and knows how to sell stories. That's what matters these days I guess. None of the UK soaps are up to much and haven't been in a long time. I mostly stay with Emmerdale because of the characters. Corrie I can't stomach now. EE I watch but who knows why at this point. Hollyoaks is Hollyoaks, for better or worse.
  22. Did he used to write speeches for W? I'm still disgusted that Roy Moore is going to win, but this did make me laugh. I'm still not sure what it says about where we've gone that Ben Stein's grumpy sidekick and the host of the Man Show is some kind of national touchstone. http://www.vulture.com/2017/11/roy-moore-is-in-a-twitter-fight-with-jimmy-kimmel.html
