  1. Disgusting. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/fivepoints/todd-entrekin-blames-liberal-media-alabama-sheriffs-pocket-inmate-food-funds

  3. I'd totally forgotten that. You're doing Ron Carlivati proud with your GG knowledge. You really do have to wonder just how many of those 'jokes' people in the know have snuck in to sitcoms and dramas over the decades.
  4. More claims and ugliness at NBC News. http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/nbc-matt-lauer-tom-brokaw-1202789751/ http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/tom-brokaw-sexual-harassment-nbc-news-correspondent-1202789627/
  5. I've always felt a little sorry for Kyle, even as I often wonder why I should (I guess it's partly because of her upbringing and partly because some of the people who were against her, like Brandi and Carlton, were so awful), but she really is a vapid moron (and good luck pushing those TV projects now). Given her abusive relationships with her mother and sisters, I guess I should not be surprised she's there to help another Kim. http://www.tmz.com/2018/04/26/kyle-richards-kim-zolciak-not-racist-real-housewives/
  6. Looks like the GOP is already going to use Jackson to go after vulnerable Democrats. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/tester-surprises-colleagues-by-feeling-emboldened-in-jackson-investigation I don't think Trump planned for Jackson to be used this way or to be humiliated - I think he actually believed the guy would be confirmed - but so much of the rest of this feels like a setup to me, from other involved parties.
  7. The Intercept continues to carry water for the GOP/Trump. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/04/26/nancy-pelosi-steny-hoyer-recordings-555935
  8. I've sort of given up thinking most of them will be prosecuted.
  9. A part of me wonders if someone in Trumpland used Ronny Jackson as a sacrificial lamb to make it easier to get a hard right extremist through under the guise of being more "qualified" - someone like Pete Hegseth.
  10. Boy do those Debbie Reynolds clips make me cringe...
  11. Ugh. If Democrats did take over Congress, unlikely as it is, could they do anything about Carson's plans?
  12. I'd say give it a try for Cecile and Blaine, and to stare at Richard Bekins and Ray Liotta. That's what I usually do when I watch that era, as a lot of the rest is a slog. Vicky Wyndham and Douglass Watson are great, of course, as is Beverly Penberthy. Sadly the show often plays like a funeral. Where to start - try the 1979 material on Youtube as that's the earliest around I believe. I think a lot of the Janice/Mac/Rachel/Mitch stuff is up, as are the fights between Rachel and Mac that led up to all of it kicking off with Mac and Janice. You have to watch Christine Jones - one of the most sublime soap performances of all time. You can just feel her breaking. Here is one of the only surviving 90 minute episodes that I know of. (the padding with Iris is hilarious...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vuJ4ZnsJ_M
  13. Kyle looks like she's wearing a nightwear version of one of those old suits people used to wear to sweat and lose weight.
  14. Corrie is, to me, just about completely hollowed out. Macleod could make it worse, but there isn't much left to take away. Personally I thought Oates was overrated beyond belief and also came across as very arrogant and defensive this year. I'm glad she's gone, and whatever Macleod does, my opinion of being glad she's gone won't change. ITV should have more structure in place so that producers can't just do what they want. Unfortunately they only seem to do so when it comes to not making big cast changes. The rest has an anything goes attitude. I imagine Emmerdale will just promote someone from in-house. Emmerdale is a weird show anyway, a hybrid piece - it plays by its own rules. For that reason I kind of hope they take a risk, although I'd be upset if they start letting various actors or writers go as it's the script team and the cast who keep me connected to Emmerdale in a way I'm not with the other soaps. I rarely watch the show in recent months, but I also quit under Blyth and under Oates, so I can't say it's anything new to me. Emmerdale is what it is - for better or worse.

  16. RIP Pamela Gidley, who was so memorable as Teresa Banks, the harbinger for Laura's murder. I'm so glad I got to see more of her in the Missing Pieces. http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/actors/pamela-gidley-1965-2018/
  17. A Wisconsin family fights to survive. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/you-ever-think-the-government-just-dont-want-to-help-as-requirements-for-welfare-grow-so-does-one-familys-desperation/2018/04/22/351cb27a-2315-11e8-badd-7c9f29a55815_story.html?utm_term=.81c5f0eefadf
  18. Is Kroy her husband or her bodyguard? Their relationship just seems odd to me - does he have no purpose of his own? (I guess I would have to watch her show to find out, and I'd rather not...) Even he seemed shocked when she said racism wasn't real. I'm surprised this footage was put out. It makes me wonder if someone at Bravo is just done with her. I can't imagine they thought she would return in the way she did.
  19. Shania Twain says she would have voted for Trump. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/apr/22/shania-twain-unexpected-return-freak-illness-country-pop-star I'd like to say "that's up to her, I can't judge," but I can't really do that with Trump supporters.
  20. John Conboy is dead.
  21. To me the character was a self-righteous ass who endlessly dressed down the women in his life and had zero chemistry or connection with most of them. He did a lot of damage to two characters I was a big fan of (Alex and Mindy) and he epitomized the sourness and unearned entitlement that JFP's run on GL had so much of. At the time I had no idea who a JFP was, I didn't look at producer credits. All I knew was that as so many of my favorites left, characters like Nick and Buzz were not worth my time. Only in his last year or so did he click for me. Which of course meant he was fired...
  22. I'm surprised Trump even wanted her to be there. I could say something very bitchy but I won't...
