Why do people give money or attention to NYT? Does their news coverage actually have anything to offer?

I think John Saffron and Caroline Franz. I'm not sure why that Lynda Miles is dumped at the top. Wasn't this not long after the Dobsons left for the last time?

ALL: Temporary Replacements
None I've seen. At one point I think they were even considering keeping her on as Kim permanently. I rarely watch GH but I'll have to see this. Temp recasts are one of the most special parts of soaps. I'm glad they have made a comeback in the last 5 years.

China is putting its collective finger in the eye of Trump supporters yet again, and all of us by extension. The joke is that these people will still support him - I imagine China knows this and finds it hilarious. I wish I could. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/20/us-sorghum-fleet-china-grain-tariff-trade

So I see that Comey was out there talking about McCabe even though he will likely have to testify ("talking about" as in "throwing under the bus"). Why has this perpetually self-serving man been given such a platform?

Old TV clips - misc.
I recently found a Youtube channel that has a ton of old content - a grab bag. Rather than keep putting it into various threads I thought I might just put some links here. This has a lot of the 1974 fall preview for CBS, including some interviews with the people behind Planet of the Apes and Rhoda. This is a cute, dumb little show that has Lee Majors guesting as himself and Steve from the 6MDM (and Fred Willard in his sketch comedy days also makes an appearance). Greg Morris, Carol Burnett, and Arte Johnson remind us of the dangers of drugs (a bit sad when you remember Carol's daughter), interspersed with some commentary from the yoof of 1970.

I made the mistake of going on Twitter and seeing someone smugging it up about Trump and North Korea. Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch. He will probably be on there within the night talking about Rocket Man.

ATWT was never streamed on AOL - it was Texas, AW, Edge of Night, and Search for Tomorrow. The one good thing I can say about P&G/PGP is they never take episodes down.

This is nuts. I wish the whole thing was available. TV stars and kids of the day talk about drugs.

Brenda said as much in an interview - that Jill had changed in her years away and she had to adapt her performances. What confuses me is that reading about some of Jill's late '70s stories, she sounds very scheming (even hurting her own mother), so I wonder how Brenda played that material. Even at this point Brenda's work seems somewhat restrained to me. It seems like she went way off the rails in that last year. That's a good point. I guess as the only link she had who still appeared at times was Casey, Bell felt there was nothing left. It's too bad they didn't have some other tie to her past - maybe some cousins who could have stayed at the ranch and caused problems. For me John was pretty played out by those last years, but the problem was the family itself was not in strong shape. She also said she had to work in spite of very bad health problems, or something. It's always hard to know the full story with her, but she isn't the only actor to complain about the Y&R set. It seems to have been a tense, unhappy set for many years. Melody fascinates me, especially since that story from Jeanne Cooper about MTS not speaking to her for (was it years?).- The Beyoncé Thread

Thank you again for sharing this with us. Was Ashley a part of Brent's life before he died? This was certainly a big episode to see - Ashley learning the truth. Eileen Davidson played those scenes with the right blend of despair/anger/disbelief. Her pushing her head against the wall is one of those moments that you wouldn't normally get in dramatic scenes. The guy who played Brent is pretty good too. I feel like I've seen some of the Jill/John and John/Dina scenes in clip form. I hadn't seen that much of the part where he tells her about the man claiming to be Ashley's father. Dina's struggle to hide her sickness at that reveal is so well played by Marla Adams. Love Traci but she couldn't quite hit those high notes. The rest was nice. Tim seems like one of those men who is never happy - a real drain. Victor and Nikki seem to be in their own show and as always my patience with them is limited, although at least Victor actually talked to her back then, rather than just barking at her. Nikki as the head model of Jabot would have been...interesting. I guess more believable than the days when Cricket was a top model. It's always tough for me to make out the characters in the charcoal opening. Did I see Andrea Evans?- Y&R: Old Articles
