So, Paula Faris apparently interviewed Gavin McInness (ringleader of an extremist group) in a puff piece for ABC...and she also has ties to him.
  2. Kathy briefly had a flirtation with Masood which stopped when Ian hit the roof. Otherwise that's it. Tina's story this year involved her remembering psycho Stuart locking her in a car boot. Jane just never came back - they have barely ever mentioned her since. Max was reported to the police by Ian but they decided he'd suffered enough, I think. Ben is fine, last mentioned months ago when Phil went to see him.
  3. I don't get the attention-seeking Bernie or AOC vibes from Congresswoman Tlaib, this was likely an emotional statement in what she took as a private moment, but I'm disappointed at the gift given to the GOP and the media right off the bat. I think impeachment talk is a mistake and also a huge Pandora's Box.
  4. I read that Andrea Mitchell (who of course would love Liz Cheney as the Bushes employed her husband for 8 years) was gushing about Liz being a "rising star." To the media, I guess she is. She has the right last name, she's cold, she's mean, and she's a hatemonger. That is their ideal Republican.
  5. Awful awful man.
  6. @I Am A Swede I sent you three episodes. There are rumors going around that ITV3 is going to begin airing Emmerdale repeats. Unfortunately they only start at the arrival of the Tate family. I know that's way too late for most here. I'll be glad to get to see the '90s intact, and 2000-2003, but I do wish we got the earlier years.
  7. Harry Reid certainly made his mistakes, but he was tough as hell, and the Senate Democrats sorely miss that strength. I'm sorry to hear he's nearly gone. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/02/magazine/harry-reid-senate-cancer-trump.html
  8. If you have the time please watch the Rachel/Mac/Mitch/Janice stuff that it is on Youtube. Christine Jones is simply riveting. You can find a lot on munecojim. Here's one meaty Rachel episode:

  10. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mitt-romney-trump-washington-post-editorial-today-2019-01-01/ Mitt Romney gets the Beltway swooning. It's all bullshit.
  11. Kate Oates is the first to go from ITV to BBC as producer, but Corrie and Emmerdale do trade producers (usually they go from Emmerdale, the lesser soap, to Corrie, the big soap)...often this is not the best idea.
  12. And she called him "Daddy." I think Goutman put that in just to spite fans.
  13. I think it's best to see her as the centerpiece of Emmerdale Farm, which she was to the end. What followed next is mostly a different show entirely. Sheila was a wonderful actress who never got the credit she deserved. I hope she had a peaceful and happy birthday and I hope she knows how many generations needed Annie Sugden in their lives.

  15. I have gotten bad vibes off Louis CK since his SNL monologues about child abuse. One thing I've learned in recent years is just how many people rush to support this type of "edgy" humor if it comes from someone like him. He'll have a larger comeback soon enough.
  16. I doubt it. I'd say if Joseph was still around he might have mentioned it, given that his uncle died in the crash, but that wouldn't have happened. I keep hoping now that Emmerdale is on a history kick they will bring back more people from the past years past 1993, or even invent someone from that era, or half-invent (maybe one of those families who came and went in the '70s, like the Gimbels). It would be so simple. I mean they brought in an entire family for the new teacher, for the new doctor...
  17. I will always dislike the way they wrote Joe out and I think killing Mark and Archie was a mistake (I would have killed Nick, who had reached the end of the road as a character). The episodes themselves were very well-made, although I tend to agree with those who think the show was and will always be better pre-crash.
  18. I'd heard about this but never watched it until now. It's the last press club video for the Clinton era. It's very well-made, but also has that smarmy, chummy Beltway stench that did so much damage to the country. And a few unintentionally chilling moments... (the guy who helps Bill get online is the big brother from Pete and Pete)
  19. Michelle Phillips, Swoosie Kurtz and Wendy Phillips. (and Marlee Matlin)
  20. I get the feeling John Yorke didn't care for the relationship so he decided to take the hammer to it. The material has been so depressing and heavy and while Alfie has been a bastard at times, he was never this openly manipulative and ugly. The Christmas episode I thought was surprisingly strong, one of the best in years, but the rest, especially anything involving Hayley, was garbage. I agree. Jessie's been good for most of this return but she has been phenomenal recently. I just hope she gets the showcase she deserves next year. The video of Shane and Barbara is touching.
  21. Thanks for finding that and letting us know. The radio GL is always compelling, especially Meta's journey. I just wish the early years were available.
  22. I guess the high cast turnover didn't help. It seemed like since nothing outside of the Capwells clicked early on with viewers, the show gave up.
  23. I feel like those types of articles are done to excuse those who supported him, even when I agree with them.
