  1. This made me laugh.
  2. I can't answer most of those but I don't remember Phyllis interacting with Mari Jo. They were in very different story spheres, and for a very long period of time, almost all of Phyllis' scenes took place in her apartment (when she wasn't spying on Paul or Cricket or Danny or running one of them down).
  3. Hmm...
  4. I'd actually been enjoying the show a bit more this week and wondered if it was some new work being phased in. Sorry it's still not working for you.
  5. I posted that at the top of the page - I will be surprised if it hasn't already. He is such an idiot and a liability.
  6. So much for dealing with those leaks.
  7. Such a complete idiot. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/06/rudy-giuliani-kim-jong-un-beg-628697

  9. They're probably also scared of the money trains running out if Democrats regain any power. Any time I watch (not that often) I can feel how addicted they are to Trump and the GOP, even those who try to tsk-tsk and feign outrage. It's hard to believe it took this many years. I know there were a few part Native American members of Congress but that isn't really enough. Rodella sounds awful from everything I was reading last night. Her husband was in hot water, and she was involved in all kinds of decisions like blocking gay marriage bills, she was in big with the corporations, etc. They don't even know what they want, other than to look like big men. I guess you saw that moron who will likely be the next Speaker (McCarthy) blindly defending Trump's tariffs. I don't think most voters are going to blame Trump or the GOP, sadly, but I did read that the Democratic vote was up heavily in Iowa yesterday, one of the places hardest hit by the trade war. Meanwhile Medicare and Social Security are ticking away and we are focused on alienating anybody and everybody around us.
  10. Watching it again it feels like an origin story for a failed Six Million Dollar Man reboot.
  11. Apparently CNN and MSNBC went hogwild as per usual about how good the night was for Trump and how it shows Democrats don't have momentum, and so on (what a shocker), but Democrats seem to have managed to avoid getting locked out of the Congressional races they wanted to compete in. I do think Gavin Newsom is a tired choice for governor, but I guess that's what they wanted. He also got his wish of going against a Republican (John Cox), even though I imagine that, along with the gas tax repeal, will rev up Republican turnout in November. Republicans recalled a Democratic legislator to send a message about gas taxes (and to briefly end the Democrats supermajority). http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-josh-newman-recall-20180605-story.html Democrats won a special election in Missouri. http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article212508709.html A big DINO in New Mexico lost her primary, after helping to stop automatic voting registration last year. http://www.santafenewmexican.com/elections/longtime-lawmaker-rodella-unseated-by-progressive-challenger/article_c0cd163e-5c7c-5d1e-a729-89bc9adf8a57.html
  12. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html As many expected the Supreme Court sided with the Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. The ruling was narrower than I thought it would be (probably why it got 7-2 instead of 5-4), which will open up even more anti-gay laws and legal challenges, but maybe means Kennedy doesn't want to go too far. Of course Kennedy could be retiring this term, or the next one, and whoever Trump chooses to replace him will not be likely to hesitate at gay hate. Just another reason I hope Democrats win the Senate, unlikely as it is, and start blocking as many nominees as they can until 2021.
  13. DHK. Spring 1981.
  14. There were lots of pretentious woo-woo camera and flashback bits (audio I think) then some "shock" to make us wonder if he was hit by a car (I think - it's been a while).
  15. Morgan Freeman's battle with CNN goes on. https://deadline.com/2018/05/cnn-morgan-freeman-lawyer-letter-robert-m-schwartz-1202401231/
  16. Robert was involved with Debbie too and he never interacts with her, so it doesn't mean anything. But there are other reasons why Scott is not likely to ever return. The main issue with the Sugdens is there aren't even any left to bring back, unless Kelvin Fletcher decides he wants to return. This is where the show could bring in new Sugdens, but I doubt they will bother. I like Dan a lot, and I like Kerry, but I think their stories have reached a natural conclusion (unless they keep Kerry around to take her grandson Kyle). I'd write the family out and bring back more Merricks. I have to admit by Cain standards I thought he was fairly reasonable - in years past he would have dangled him off a ledge. Still, I have no sympathy for Debbie and it's time for Cain to not have to be involved in her messes. Someone who went on the Emmerdale tour said

  18. That's great. I'm glad she keeps getting work.
  19. It was. Claire Labine was upset as that had nothing to do with her story plans - she did not want Michael to die, she was mostly into writing his relationship with Rae. My reaction to his being gunned down was more like this: I don't know what else was and wasn't strike material, but the Jack downfall story is literally the only good story I remember on the show in 1981. Have they already had the hilarious Frank jogging scene?
  20. I'd say a lot of it is the way it was done. Wolf chose to talk about eye makeup, compare Sanders to a gym coach (often stereotyped as ugly) and compare Sanders to a character on the Handmaid's Tale who is styled in a way that draws ugly comments about her appearance. The response is to say, "No one talked about her appearance, only conservatives brought up her appearance," but framing the jabs against Sanders that way is opening up a debate about appearance. Wolf made another comment outside of the show where she jabbed that Sanders "finally gets to go to prom" which is in the same vein - and is another jab that has been used against many women for years. Bee and Wolf used misogynistic framing choices that are used against all women, even as we were simultaneously meant to believe that it was no big deal because it was only about one woman and had nothing to do with misogyny or sexism. When the left makes the debate about how ugly someone is, or about incest, or about how great it is to call women c***s, then it makes them feel good, but it doesn't really do much else.
  21. If this is happening I can see ABC's temptation, and Sara's temptation, and I'll probably even give it a try (especially if a lot of the other cast are involved), but I have a feeling if it happens it won't end well - Roseanne and the far right will be screaming bloody murder, and a lot of people on the left likely won't give the show another chance after Sara worked with Roseanne and brought her back to national prominence.
  22. I thought this was a pretty good article, about the guy hired to help clean up Harvey's image. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/01/style/michael-sitrick-harvey-weinstein-crisis-management.html
  23. Going through some more old uploads on the Rick Thomas channel I found this, which was a lovely surprise (and kudos to Marie Masters for maintaining her lovely face for all the years later, so that she remained recognizable). Sad to think I'm never likely to get to see her work on ATWT at this time. If you want to see the full upload, with a few other people popping up (John Gabriel is in the partial ad at the end, and I think Tim Matheson is in the Folgers ad).
