  1. The End of Time was so wretched on every level that I can't even go back and watch any of RTD's run now. That and his petulant response to Ianto fans were my last straws for his work.
  2. I liked Gina but they never did anything with the character. She was there to talk about Jesus and for the sake of a press release about being the girl DJ didn't want to kiss when they were young...and the wife he barely shared scenes or affection with when they grew up. The episode where they went to church to support her was a nice way to make her feel included and to show the softer side of the Conners, but most of the time they were at a loss. I haven't watched the new episodes yet but I wonder if they mentioned that Kathy's son was good friends with DJ.
  3. I've long been aware they're out of touch - the problem is more the power they still have over the narrative and the country. As for the tweet, I mostly just enjoy any new example showing what a fraud and a weasel Marco Rubio is as to this day people keep pushing him.
  4. Media darling Marco strikes again:
  5. I don't think the country is center-right, but I think the country is so burned out psychologically they are often tricked into ideas that end up being much more extreme than they realize. For instance, the section of so-called Christian Trump voters who are now, belatedly, speaking out about how concerned they are over his hardline policies regarding refugees. They were duped into believing that his clear bigotry and xenophobia was just talk to get elected. In many cases it's about framing, and a con job. Trump was good at conning people into believing what he was selling. There's not much of an alternative on the left because many on the left who are in positions of power aren't sociopaths and aren't there to just tell blatant lies. Hopefully voters will wake up this time. I saw Moore saying that Biden is the new Hillary. The problem with that argument is any Democrat who runs will be the new Hillary. And many of his supporters are already pushing that narrative, eagerly.
  6. Oh I think Trump will keep screwing up. It's the media and the Democratic response that makes me pause. But there's nothing that can be done about it either way, hopefully the primaries will be sorted out early and Democrats can regroup and the DNC can be put back into shape.
  7. I'd say they aren't as different in Iowa, given how much federal officials end up being tied into local issues there like ethanol, but if you're too tired to respond, that's fine. This will be my last post directed to you here or elsewhere on the board.
  8. It's not something that will be big news but it's heavily trending on Twitter. The story is part of a pattern the right has set up recently - there was a Federalist story a few weeks ago claiming that climate change activists are pagans. Then we started hearing that they worship Moloch and sacrifice children. Now we have this. It's the new version of pizzagate. And it is serving as a call to arms for the crazies as well as a way to blunt out talk about impeachment, which is already becoming more and more about what Biden did wrong or what Schiff did wrong thanks to articles like that recent NYT hit piece on Schiff and the whistleblower. I'm not saying anyone needs to be out there saying "climate change activists don't eat babies," because that's nonsensical, but I do think there is a real lack of any organization or message on the left, on any level. Reading this about the DNC just made me feel completely demoralized: https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/04/dnc-biden-ukraine-trump-027028 A similar article about the messaging war against Biden and for Trump that is paying off for them. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/03/trump-ukraine-joe-biden-media-026486
  9. What benefits him most is apathy (there have been so many scandals, day after day, from before he even got elected) and the social media driving of narratives. For instance, today on Twitter people are continuing to heavily push the narrative of climate change activists being monsters and being pagans, going on and on about some woman at an AOC town hall meeting saying that climate change will mean they have to "eat babies." This is what will get attention, more than the same details about Trump day in and day out.
  10. Eccleston was treated horribly after he left - as if he was some kind of a traitor. Considering RTD's later childish behavior with fans on Torchwood and what a lousy hack job Collinson did at Corrie, I tend to be on Eccleston's side.
  11. Their governor was reelected even with a wave so I think statewide it's probably gone.
  12. Ernst has had to twist herself into a pretzel for a few years now. I doubt she thought it would be this difficult as early on the media was hyping her to no end. It's a shame Iowa has become so right wing as she is unlikely to lose reelection. The knives are clearly out for Warren. She was chased through a Reno airport by Republicans jeering her as Pocahontas. And we're already getting the pushback, as seen above, that she is not as electable as Biden. I think they're right in that she isn't as electable, but I'm really nervous about Biden lasting to the general.
  13. Love that Gwendoline Christie still has time to chime in with all she's probably doing. I hope we get to see her in a Lynch project someday.

  15. And sadly this tends to work. https://twitter.com/eugenegu/status/1179789729216090113
  16. The talking point from the right has been that Trump's 2016 investigations are all perfectly sound and just focusing on those. I imagine they will go "la la la" over this stuff from him. I do wonder how close we are to the point where they finally decide to just cut their losses and go with Pence.
  17. NYT strikes again. And right on cue it's being used and spun and many will fall for it.
  18. My goodness that Nickelback tweet is like the worst SNL sketch. I wish I could unsee it. I guess you all saw that Federalist article going around last week claiming that climate change supporters were all pagans. This seems to be a new talking point for the right. I don't understand who it's for. Surely the evangelicals who eat this up are already on their side anyway? Are they that desperate to court the "flies are attracted to Hillary and Obama because of the stench of sulfur" crowd?
  19. The latest attempt by the UK government to assure everyone that the US will agree to a trade agreement that doesn't protect the Irish border is gut-bustingly hilarious.
  20. I guess he means Finland is happy because they don't have leaders like Schiff and Pelosi.
  21. That's a nice little scene. Meanwhile I'm spending my time wasting my fingers on replies to people who insist the ratings would be higher with Roseanne still there.
  22. It's so disturbing to remember that this is our new normal. People will struggle to react. I never thought I would see a President behave this way and yet even I struggle to react.
