  1. The shame-faced hypocrisy and partisanship of these people is amazing. They hate Obama. They hate the Clintons. They hate Biden. Or whoever is the nominee. But they love Trump.
  2. I don't mean to begrudge Vargas for her struggles, and I know others at ABC were also involved, but the whole thing made me feel sick. This has been a longstanding narrative for the man who produced the 20/20 special and more recently wrote a book about Shepard's murder. https://thinkprogress.org/the-book-of-matt-doesn-t-prove-anything-other-than-the-size-of-stephen-jimenez-s-ego-c7ba5d0becee/
  3. Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry about the glare.
  4. Sorry - I just realized this was Henry Slesar. I blanked. You probably DO have this, but I'll post anyway. Sorry!
  5. The media will make this go against Democrats no matter what, as we're already seeing with the NYT, but I wish them luck as this past week has shown they have no choice but to start proceedings. Here's media darling Chris Christie, hilariously backtracking after Trump literally says exactly what he said should lead to impeachment. https://www.politico.com/states/new-jersey/story/2019/09/26/cuomo-alongside-christie-says-leftists-forced-impeachment-inquiry-1212363
  6. @vetsoapfan thank you for all these articles. That Georgianne LaPierre letter was just plain nuts, yet that type of invasive obsessiveness and judgment is something you see all the time now online. Love the Eileen columns. She loved to roast her "haters" before it was popular. I would have gotten a kick out of Eileen Fulton in the social media era. I was hoping that Another Life article would talk about the early episodes that are literally impossible to find, but still a good read, with some insights. The part about wanting to portray real violence in spite of objections was interesting to me, as I wish we had that type of approach more often. If memory serves they also tried to portray a rape and its aftermath realistically around this time. I can't remember how long they lasted on the show. Do you have Harding Lemay's 1971 TV Guide interview? I do. I wasn't going to post it if you already have it though.
  7. I've been wary of the NYT since they merrily took us to war in Iraq, and since one of their critics ghoulishly belittled Matthew Shepard's friends and supporters back when other hacks like Elizabeth Vargas were pushing a narrative about his murder not being a hate crime and how sorry we should feel for his murderers. But they've gone above and beyond lately. Trump is wrong about 99.99999% of things, but he is right about how dangerous the media in this country is. Even now they are actively pushing their own egos and grudges above the well-being of us all. They truly do not care if we live or die. It's incredibly disturbing, and is only getting worse.
  8. Ratio means they get more comments than likes, so people are not happy about the tweet. It feels like a really hacky open from SNL or Colbert. Embarrassing.
  9. Eva Marie Saint - wow. Don was terrific on the return - a surprise and a delight. Ray Wise commented on that SNL tweet, saying it was an honor to have Phil play him.
  10. The main difference with Biden and Hillary is that Hillary had 25 years of pent up hatred from the media, the establishment, and much of the public. They can make Biden seem incompetent, or out of touch, but they can't make people (outside of the far left) hate him. He's Uncle Joe. I'm more concerned over just how in over his head he seems, and yes, all the issues with his son (his son seems to have many, many issues) are concerning as well. It's one of the reasons I'm leaning toward Warren, but I feel like Warren is on a high right now and she's going to be torn to pieces by Trump, the media, and Bernie supporters. As for the article - it feels like the media making themselves the story and backpatting as per usual. If they do help bring more rats to light with their editorial, I'm glad, but as of now we're mostly in the same place we've always been - the Senate will support Trump, so will the media, and the public doesn't support impeachment. I feel like Pelosi was boxed in and is just trying to navigate as best she can to make sure turnout doesn't sink in 2020. We're already getting the articles about how a lot of Democrats are unhappy about impeachment, so I guess we'll see how far this ends up going. It's still amazing to me he blew a golden opportunity to actually be a well-liked public figure because he just couldn't resist being such a complete partisan hack (and a moron to boot). Either he's just that stupid, he gets paid too well to ever not be such a hack, or he knows the media will love him no matter what. What is all this about? Was this during the climate meetings at the UN? I've been so caught up with Trump, and with the truly disgusting Boris Johnson, that I hadn't heard about this instance.
  11. I agree with you. The nose doesn't fit her face and looks a bit like the I Love Lucy episode where her fake nose caught on fire.
  12. I see that the NYT has already shown us whose side they are on...running an op-ed against impeachment by torture advocate John Yoo. And this is who runs our country. Sad.
  13. Pete was only ever running to get out of Indiana. He did that in spades.
  14. I'd forgotten they even wore camo and the show played military music. Tour of Duty weeps!
  15. That was Beth, I think. I think this was around the time Philip went to save her...
  16. Morally I agree with the decision. Strategically, I think it's going to cost them a lot of the seats they won in 2018. But whatever choice they made was going to have consequences, so we'll just see what happens and expect the worst.
  17. I think they're going to regret this.
  18. Speaking of Ernie, is this him in this ad?
  19. Far right operators are going hammer and tongs against Greta Thunberg, as they always do against young people who want to have a future (remember their attacks against the children who fought for health care?). And sadly, it will work - it always does. Anyway, here is Laura Nazi salute's brother:
  20. I don't get his point. The Oscars were always seen as an international event. Of course they get more focus with declining ratings.
  21. I've been wary of some of the methods about climate change protesting (especially after seeing videos where climate change protesting now = a guy in booty overalls twerking as confetti is thrown over him [nothing says help the environment like confetti]) and this is a reason why.
  22. I think they may have when Travis died. I can't remember.
  23. These forums are meaningless anyway. What seems to hurt Harris is, beyond the obvious bias against her for her race and gender, is her prosecutor background. She gets hammered over that many times - probably more than she anticipated. I'm sure Warren will get the same hatred as soon as she gets closer to toppling Bernie.
