Tim Alberta, shill in chief for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, is pouting the day away after being brutally ratioed for a Melania puff piece.

I don't think they will, as they need this convention to be a win for Trump and they need to try to return to the easy narrative of First Lady humanizing President (so voters can forgive him anything), even though Melania has so little interest in doing that she even wore a jacket telling us she doesn't care about sick, dying children in cages. They are also trying to gin up outrage over Bette Midler telling the truth (she can't speak English). I am not surprised to learn CNN are the main ones pushing this narrative. They really aren't even trying to be subtle about reelecting Trump. At least most of them didn't embarrass themselves as much as Chris Cilizza, who tried to tell us how incredible Tiffany's "I know struggle since I didn't immediately get a job" speech was. Someone else the media is fawning over, and telling us is even better than Obama. They love to push the minority Republican storyline at any cost. This man is, like his bankroller McConnell, so soulless that he chose to inflict pain on the people who were mourning and trying to get justice for Taylor by releasing engagement photos with his fiancee - a big, happy, white family, grinning at the camera to remind them who will always win out. Absolutely depraved. This is the modern GOP.

Everyone called her Christina/Chrissy when she was a child. Blake was a name she used as a disguise when she came back as an adult, and she kept it. Everyone called her Blake aside from Roger. I can't remember if Ed may have slipped a few times.

If you mean among fans, I'm sure there were. If you mean on the show, probably not. I think one of the only people who ever used her real name was Roger (didn't he call her "Chrissy"?). I think the Five Points to Selby Flats move happened via flood, and the move to Springfield happened for Bill's career. I may be wrong though.

Good luck there (Haley is worthless in every way but even her intense self-hatred isn't going to be good enough for the base). Just as I type this I see a new Washington Post article giving the "well, actually" line to tell people there's nothing wrong with Trump turning the White House into campaign propaganda. It's so pervasive that even those the right sees as far left extremists, like John Oliver and the repulsive Bill Maher, have to perfunctorily trash the Democratic convention, just as Oliver needed us to know he has a Republican wife, so he would get brownie points. Much of the criticism of Trump is performance art. People on CNN, MSNBC, etc. yell and scream, for the camera, but most of that isn't genuine. It's the modern equivalent of when Aaron Brown on CNN would take off his glasses and sigh over Iraq while reporters drove around in tanks, grinning and giddy, their GI Joe fantasies come to life. They need Trump for financial reasons, and beyond Trump, they need their "strong father," "brainy policy wonk so gutsy in standing up to those dirty poors," and "noble and brave Republican minority" figures to help keep them going psychologically, which is why so many acres of sympathetic newsprint went out about frauds like Dan Crenshaw or Paul Ryan or Nikki Haley, or why, when Mitt Romney made a few very belated, very minimal efforts to separate himself from Trump, you had reporters trying to shame and berate voters for not electing him in 2012. It's a sickness. And no, not all reporters are like this, not all media is like this. But those who are are the ones who have all the power. Until that changes, the disparity and danger in coverage won't get any better - it will just get worse. We will continue to have Andrew Lacks here, there and everywhere.

You're in Canada, right? Their media isn't like ours, sadly. That's about all I can respond with. Several network heads have bragged about how good Trump is for them money-wise. One of the head honchos at the New York Times basically writes press releases for the Trumps, and her mother works for the Kushner family. They aren't very subtle. Anyway, in other news:

I do agree Trump will get a bounce (there are pollsters who exist solely to inflate numbers for him). I didn't think Biden would get much - the truth is no politicians have gotten much in years. The media doesn't want to talk about that though. I know the media will convince everyone the RNC strategy is great, but other than moving some people in Florida I'm not sure how many will care. It feels very stale.

@DramatistDreamer I saw earlier that Rand Paul is pushing for the Post Office to start cutting rural service to 3 times a week. I wonder if these voters will ever wake up. 26 Republicans joined the Democrats in the House to pass a funding Post Office bill today. Adam Nagourney wrote a bunch of pro-GOP, pro-W pieces during the 2004 election cycle. The NYT has a LOT to lose if Trump is defeated. They will continue to ramp up their efforts to help him and to push a narrative of the Republican comeback. We will get 24/7 Republican comeback, just as we are getting 24/7 talk about how there is no bounce, or the Dem convention actually gave Trump a bounce, or it did nothing to defend Biden and Democrats and now the door is wide open for Trump, look out, he is incredible and wily, etc. They are going to will this win into happening if it is the last thing they do.
