  1. I think part of this is because of poor leadership making people feel they have no real hope or answers. The UK and the US have abominably bad leaders, as does Australia.
  2. I didn't mean he cared about them as people - I meant they are his voters so he needs them for reelection.
  3. Someone in the replies to the tweet works at a store and said if they have limits, a person will leave the store, then come back not long after and buy more. It's better than someone buying a thousand things at once, but only marginally so. I think there's a point where if you are buying dozens and dozens of rolls of toilet paper and you are only taking care of yourself or a few other people, then you should consider leaving some behind. Unfortunately most masks are not made in the US and the few who make them are in heavy demand. A Chinese businessman is donating a million masks, but those will go very quickly. A great deal of the lack of supplies is because this country has shuttered so many of our businesses and factories. And that isn't likely to change, sadly.
  4. Why would he not say that? Those are many of his biggest supporters - you'd think he wouldn't want them to die.
  5. I was reading about some of the shitfaces who mass bought hand sanitizer and other products to sell at hugely inflated prices (the New York Times, surprise surprise, gave one of them a glowing profile, complete with a "cute" photo where he's embracing his wife and baby). Enraging. These people should be put in jail. In more positive news (for now, anyway - unless action is taken these places will just double down into burning everything once this is over [if it's over...]). https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffmcmahon/2020/03/11/coronavirus-lockdown-may-save-more-lives-from-pollution-and-climate-than-from-virus/ And also this, which is mostly just something that needs to be said over and over and over:
  6. Thanks for the article. These clips must be from summer 1988?
  7. Oh you're right - it quickly went further than just her blog. That Dyson guy has also been interviewed, briefly (behind an adwall).
  8. This seems like a much more fun version of that Master twist in The End of Time that annoyed the hell out of me. https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/doctors/a31439201/doctors-joe-pasquale-episode-reactions/
  9. I know I shouldn't laugh:
  10. It's always: - voter suppression - rigging (the exit polls show it's true!) - they don't have time to vote because their lives are too hard AOC is trying to distance herself while also keeping up appearances. It's going to get her burned at both ends, although she is still faring better than Rashida Tlaib (who I think really badly hindered herself long-term careerwise) and Ilhan Omar (who seems to be known solely for love life dramas these days). Meanwhile, Bernie and his people continue to excel at wasting money and at spitefulness (Scranton is very dear to Biden). @Faulkner I saw that too but was wary initially because Candace Owens was spreading the story (and even put out Gillum's home address before deleting it). Apparently one of the men there, Dyson, has the same name as a guy whose profiles on social media just went down. Let's just say that Dyson was...very, very, very generous with letting everyone see his body. Gillum is such an important activist, I'm sorry to see him dragged into this stuff, and I'm sorry for his family most of all.
  11. I've heard nothing but bad about that man. I think Trump and Pence have it but aren't saying anything.
  12. Kushner remains so laughably ineffective he would probably be played by Don Knotts in another universe.
  13. Of course useless David Sirota is taking the opportunity to make it all about how much he hates the Democrats (in between talking about how they don't want Bernie to win because he works for Bernie). He'd just get to cancel the election.
  14. They don't really care. They're just mad he's making them look bad. A lot of people will never forget the name of anyone working in this administration.
  15. This will likely be Trump's new talking point soon (and sadly many will eat it up).
  16. I read that he was touching mikes too - not sure if that's true or not. Either way I feel terrible for everyone involved. I read that Mark Cuban is going to try to start a fund for all the people who will be put out of work. I hope it happens.
  17. It's a win-win for both sets of cultists. They can feel morally superior as Biden can't answer the way they want, and clips can also be thrown on Twitter quickly to show other examples of his cognitive struggles. I wish he wasn't doing it, to be honest. I do think Bernie knows it's over, even if his followers don't (or can't admit it is because they still need to con people for cash). He said on Fallon last night that he does think Biden can beat Trump. Many of his followers are upset and want him to take the gloves off. They will continue their foaming at the mouth once he drops out, I'm sure, but he's smart enough to see the exit door. He just wants to leave with dignity and the right payment. I don't really think Biden's speech will be up to much today, but whatever happens I hope McConnell refusing to support legislation to help fight the virus will show Biden that the days of trusting or working with Republicans are long gone. The sad thing is so many are so easily swayed that even now, with the stock market crashing again today and more and more sick and dying, Trump still has a heavy amount of support for his lunacy.
  18. I think some are taking it seriously but it depends on their political views. I have one relative who is liberal and works in the medical field and they are trying to keep on top of everything, are giving everyone advice, and being helpful. Yet a family friend who is right wing and also has experience in the medical field sends memes about it being a hoax and says there's nothing going on and it's not fair how daily life is being impacted. I notice that Chris Hayes, Bernie lover, is pushing Joe Rogan's interview with that man who is saying things like the virus is airborne (if it was that simple I'd think cases would be even more widespread). Rogan is a hardcore conspiracy theorist and a close friend of Alex Jones. That the media is pushing these views is very dangerous.
  19. I agree, but I've decided Bernie isn't worth the energy. He's an old egomaniac grifter doing what he does best. I'm annoyed at the money that will have to be spent but at least his cultists will be able to spend time working for him (or being assholes on Twitter) rather than going around rioting the way they say they plan to do. I just wish these people could be purged from any role in the party or at the convention. (I will say it's been hilarious seeing them clutch their pearls over Biden's outburst a few days ago when it basically epitomized everything they've said Bernie is supposed to be) I think Obama, like many of us, assumed a "safe" conservative was going to get the nomination - no one ever could have imagined Trump would be more than a vanity candidate. Beyond that, I think a fight against Hillary (who had supported Obama after their bitter primary and was seen as deserving her turn) would have been draining and vicious and would have torn the party apart. I've always been nervous about Biden running, then and even more now. I don't think I had anticipated just how shaky this year's slate would have ended up being. In an ideal world Kamala would have been given more of a chance, and had a different campaign, but of course that's not where we are.
  20. I did read some of AOC's comments that Vee included. Not to be condescending, but I do feel like she has had a wakeup call over the last few months. She's not the same person who went out last year and told everyone that Bernie made her everything she is. I have to imagine that his truly toxic campaign people and the way they have badly damaged a movement which should have been in a much stronger position might have been a factor.
  21. Bernie will do what is best for his brand, as he always does. I don't really care. He's an old con artist and narcissist to the end and the people who surround him are even worse. In this case I can't be that shocked because I think even he knows that his endorsement is not going to make much difference. I had to hear last night all about how everyone needs to listen to Van Jones (the man who told us how Presidential Trump is) because Jones said that you need to reach these people who feel so disenfranchised, and on and on. It's time to accept some people can't and don't want to be reached. I was reading an article a few days ago about young socialists in Ohio who said they would vote for no one but Bernie, but it wasn't really about him anyway, politics won't fix anything and on and on. They are not Democrats, they don't believe in systems, and they don't really want anything that will challenge their worldview. These voters can't be reached. Most of the Bernie voters can't. There's no point in trying. Many Bernie supporters are currently on Twitter gloating about Trump winning in November and saying they want old people to die from COVID-19. Let them continue to have their bubble and focus on people who actually give a damn.
  22. I think it will make him look bad with a lot of people who vote based on guns, but they weren't voting for him anyway. I notice a lot of Bernie supporters have been pushing it today, along with "Demxit" and Jill Stein tweets and claims they will form a new party. I just hope they stick to their word and go. They're toxic waste and the party will gain nothing by trying to appease them like they did in 2016.
  23. More of the shitty Bernie bros, this time assaulting Symone Sanders.
  24. I'm just hoping the governors will be able to do enough but that's a very naive hope.
  25. Earl Pomerantz, writer for many of TV's classic eras of comedy, has passed away. He kept up a blog for most of the last 5-6 years, with many different thoughts. http://earlpomerantz.blogspot.com/
