  1. That seems most likely. Probably Sinclair propaganda. Within our lifetimes all of network TV may just be propaganda from affiliates, sports, "reality," and repeats from streamers.
  2. Unlikely as it may be, I'd actually prefer having her back once Freddie is gone, as I don't really need to see another female character reliving rape trauma, and Freddie is a waste of space. If there's any way they could Elaine Lordan back, even just for a scene, what a great way to celebrate 25 years. I haven't kept up with the show much the last few weeks - I haven't felt up to it to be honest - but I'm not too surprised Zoe's return has gotten mixed responses. Even with the writing issues at present, Zoe was mostly just a brat who was bookended by some powerful stories. I've also seen people saying the Slaters are too judgmental of her - given that some of them, Jean especially, are among the biggest hypocrites ever in soapland, I'm not shocked.
  3. Sorry, I meant how they were treated in the '80s.
  4. Probably because she was mostly there to cause problems for other character rather than be a character in her own right.
  5. The treatment of Emily, as well as Lee and Audrey and Steve, was not right. It always stands out more with Emily as she never got a second act. I hang on to John Beradino's short tribute to Emily after she died. It really wasn't enough, but the way Beradino says, "so long, Jessie" has more emotional impact than some Viking funerals on soaps. I think if the show were in a strong place then it could be some good drama for Felicia, Lucas, Maxie, etc. to have someone coming back who might be a Tony doppelganger, and they could tie that to Sidwell and his son if that story is still going to go on. I do know it would probably end with Sonny gunning him down while shouting at random times.
  6. So much has changed since then it's probably just a readjustment for you, the show, everyone. Maybe they will try to get Donna Mills to do a cameo.
  7. Tom, I believe. I think that the nutso story would have been more interesting for Amanda if it had contrasted with Carrie - maybe if they had met in the facility and that was Carrie's intro to Springfield, and we saw a codependent relationship between them.
  8. You're right, although IIRC there may have been real life issues as to why Logan was killed off. It's a shame Scott is gone and they made such an awful mess with Jagger, as a Karen revival makes a lot of sense. I'd like to see Tony back in some capacity - he had ties to the Cassadines so it could work. When you break down the story the way you have, then along with the Obrecht reunion tour, I almost wonder if Ron is secretly involved with the show again.
  9. You're right. IIRC, Margo had a miscarriage when Tom was aggressively cross-examining her (he did not know she was pregnant), although they may have worked around that somehow. I think GL made a mistake putting Amanda through so much trauma in such a short period.
  10. Thanks @Faulkner that's sweet. Erika looks a lot like my grandmother there. Brings back some nice memories. @Maxim Thanks for the clip. Horrid behavior, but Phil Carey is having the time of his life. I agree with you that Malone never really does that well with humor. I had never thought of it before but you're right - Ellen Bethea's Rachel is a young Viki in some ways. Nora is quite a character.
  11. Thanks for replying. I think the one episode where he gets a lead is Curtis Unglued. It's a shame it never worked out for him in sitcoms - I know he was on two or three, but as you said, many sitcoms are not well-made.
  12. As someone who mostly just complains about how terrible Block was on ATWT, I agree with you about his charisma on GL. I had forgotten Jesse's father was recast. Taye Diggs was cast for How Stella Got Her Groove Back around the time he was cast on GL, IIRC, so whatever plans they may have had for him were cut even shorter.
  13. Oh it's wonderful. I was about to reply to @alwaysAMC about it in another thread. That drum intro and the "THINK ABOUT IT!" never leave your head.
  14. Thanks @slick jones Mark Margolis will always be Nappa from Oz for me. I did not know he ever had a bit part in an adult movie. Also never knew the guy who played Leora Sanders' abusive husband on AMC popped up later the same decade on there in a small role.
  15. I was going through a few old files from videos that were once on Youtube but aren't anymore - some had old soap promos I couldn't find elsewhere on Youtube. If this is new to you, I hope the Sonny/Brenda fans enjoy it as it must be one of their first promos.
  16. Was it the fight about six minutes into this? That description does seem to fit what is available of the late '70s - trying to modernize after some dreary years. The show then becomes very dowdy again under Marland before being modernized under Kobe, too much, to the point of being a husk. The Dobsons are the ones who seemed to truly get the balance right. I wish I could see some of Deerfield's Holly.
  17. DRW50 replied to vote4llama's topic in DTS: Foreign Soaps
Thanks. I'd read through that before, but it's been a few years.
  18. DRW50 replied to vote4llama's topic in DTS: Foreign Soaps
Thanks @vote4llama The main way I'd heard of the show was a few of the nude scenes that floated around over the years. I never knew of the show's beginnings. I think the show is out on DVD or was. It would be interesting to see the shift in tone - when it happened and how fast it was.
  19. Thanks again @Maxim That definitely is a gorgeous clip with Dorian and Jason. Princi gives such modulated performances. The music, which is like a sorrowful hug, only helps. Mortimer's mother was played by the wonderful Eileen Heckart. I have never known why they killed off Carlo just to bring in a double months later.
  20. @Vee Thanks for taking time to find those. You're right, they are likeable scenes, and they definitely seemed to be playing around with the dialogue by the end. Funny to hear Tracy saying she wanted another grandchild, just not one tied to the Jeromes. She got her wish (well, a great-grandchild).
  21. I may be wrong but for some reason I thought she and Kathleen Cullen were pregnant around the same time.
