Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The longer this story goes on the more obviously shoehorned it feels to have him tied to the Dingles (especially since Jeff Hordley has even said he's tired of feud stories).

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
That's a great idea. Due to the recent ITV3 repeats, Steve gained some fans too, who tweet about that era a lot.

I don't think it helped that their younger cast sucked.

Neighbours: Discussion Thread
In the interview quote I saw he basically said he wanted to do a few episodes to give them a chance to write his character out. I guess that's what will happen.

A Different World (TV Series)
I think the rights issues and the Bill Cosby issues are a big factor.

Days spoilers for the week of May 22nd
Is it me or does Megan give off big Tracy Quartermaine vibes there? Just if Jane Elliot was more OTT. Even the laugh (albeit enhanced by sound effects there).

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
And changing Lucy's HIV test results. I remember at the time I wondered if they were laying the groundwork for him to stay when they brought his sister in and brought up his childhood abuse. He did make the right decision, although I'm sorry he never really got any strong roles after GL. Thanks for the recap @BoldRestless with so many extra details I'd never heard about.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Thanks @BoldRestless that's wonderful. I was looking at some old movie reviews and saw one for some movie called Polycarp, with Justin Deas. It is apparently just terrible. If he was doing this at the same time as he was on GL he really was taking anything for the cash (to support his family).

The Politics Thread
Disappointing to see that the state legislator in Nebraska who got attention over filibustering hate legislation is another Sinema/Fetterman/Squad type optics/attention whore. Just another reason to be wary of hero worship for politicians.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Neither had I. I didn't know they had a disco-type close for that theme too. It's a nice way to end a day. Another reminder of how much "beauty shots" can add to an episode...or in this case, seemingly give us the only time Rebecca Staab gave a lively performance on GL. (insert joke about being a better love interest than Simon)

Glad to see Archive still has some rarities going up. It's a half-hour interview with Addison Powell. I forgot how much I love that DS ditty we so often heard at the start of episodes. Addison Powell Interviewed by Jonathan Harrison : Jonathan Harrison : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive @slick jones In this Addison claims he was on Secret Storm for 7 years.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

He didn't say. I'd guess Pat or Bucky.- ALL: They Almost Became
Barney McFadden auditioned for Ryan's Hope before taking the role of Andrew Norris on Guiding Light. He said he nearly said yes to RH, but as RH was new and GL was established, he went with GL.- All My Children Tribute Thread

Another reason, along with the bill saying doctors in Florida can let people die for moral reasons, to avoid that armpit state at all costs. They are making it very clear what they want to do.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Certainly a very chic and daring actor...given the drudgery these days we could use more of them. Odd timing as I was just reading about that heroin movie he did (The Tunnel)...probably not far off his real life around that point.- Knots Landing
I would agree. I did lose some interest by the final few seasons (which was true for the show as a whole - I am not even sure how much of late season 13 and 14 I have gone through), but I do not think I could have gotten through 1988-1991 without Devane. He managed to make what was on paper a very unsympathetic character feel very genuine to me, especially his love for his daughters. I knew that my moral compass for Knots-world had been shattered for good when I kept willing him to take Meg back from the home of happy DIRTY COP DIRTY COP DIRTY COP sanctimony.- The Politics Thread
I think many of the reports about Feinstein and her health are true (I don't believe the claims from her money-grubbing ex aide who got feted by the Beltway), but Republicans have made it clear they won't accept anyone in her place on the Judiciary Committee. Democrats have to have her casting those votes for as long as she can. That so many of the "DO SOMETHING" leftists object to this tell you that they are bad actors and not genuinely interested in moving this country forward.- Doctor Who
I don't see any sexual vibes there, but it's nice to get the Looking reunion (the cast was always better than the show itself). I wish Russell Tovey could pop in too. I can't work up any interest in RTD-related Doctor Who anymore, but I hope it goes well, even if I don't watch.- 2023 Writers + Actors Strike Thread
I think most actors probably won't be striking. - Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
