  1. Schnetzer had left in late 1986 and returned in fall 1987.
  2. The Hollywood Reporter speculated that CBS would begin airing a daytime version of An Affair to Remember (based on the Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant weeper) in September 1976.
  3. Gawker has written what is essentially a hit piece on behalf of The New Yorker - oh and the woman who wrote the piece is the daughter of a longtime New Yorker columnist.
  4. Another reminder of how desperate the media is for their narrative:
  5. I was worried she would try to tank it entirely. Hopefully the bill will pull through.

  7. And of course the usual dead end leftists on Twitter are shouting "what about America? what about America?" and not even pretending to care about her.
  8. This is probably the only part that almost amuses in this whole sick joke. Jamey Giddens and his pals at DC went out of their way to badmouth PP and the AMC and OLTL revivals. They were desperate to make sure those shows never had a chance (not that they had much of one anyway). Now, after all that self-promotion and hype, and a flop show elsewhere, Giddens is on a soap being dumped into a situation similar to AMC and OLTL 2.0, only with much less notice, care, or fanfare. I hope all the people in the industry who got the knives out for their little fiefdom are taking this moment to feel proud of the end result.
  9. Thank you @slick jones for the listings and the photo, and thanks again @jam6242
  10. You are a kinder person than I am - I don't think he gives a damn about DAYS, as he didn't about OLTL. He cares about his ego. He may have had some type of affection for the soap genre, but that has never translated to his writing. With that said, I don't blame him for where DAYS is now. It's a miracle, and very hard work of the cast and crew, that the show has lasted this long. This day was always coming.
  11. At the very least they should make more special episodes as soon as they can to serve as a palate-cleanser to the months of dross they have to burn through.
  12. The problem is most of the older viewers who would use a streaming service are probably not who would be sitting through a soap, especially not one that is as poor as DAYS has been in recent years. I hope they make it work but this feels like a death sentence to me.
  13. I would miss the 90 minute format, but many other changes (like not needing Update every week or just having one musical performance a week, or even changing up the writing schedule) I really wouldn't be as sorry to see, to be honest...although whether we'd get another show, who knows. As you said, this is better suited for the SNL thread.
  14. The show has been under strict network control before (especially in the mid-late '90s) and it benefited them in some ways as Lorne has a lot of bad habits. There are plenty who could replace him, including some who now work there under him. The show, if it stays on, is likely going to face big budget cuts either way, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. With that said, this DAYS news makes that seem less likely...
  15. The SNL episodes on there are hacked to bits, although I guess that doesn't matter to everyone. At one point Lorne said he wanted SNL to go on without him, but then Kenan Thompson went out and very heavy-handedly suggested SNL should end when he retires, so who knows what they are planning now. I hope NBC will try at least one season without him as I don't think the show needs to shut down just because his ego isn't there. As for this news, I'm astonished. There seemed to be zero notice. A nearly 60 year old show just dumped from the network. Many of the viewers will not be going to Peacock. Is this just a way for them to kill the show off without getting as much backlash? This is on paper something that could keep the genre going, but when you have one of the WORST HEADWRITERS OF ALL TIME there, it's difficult to be optimistic. Still, if any show can survive into a new era it's DAYS, I suppose.
  16. Thanks for looking, I really appreciate it.
  17. It was mainly mentioned in passing as part of her credits alongside the Ed Sullivan Show appearances and her dancing, so probably around the late '40s or early-mid '50s (she went to Hollywood for a while in the early '50s so not that point)
  18. Always sad to hear of things like this - my thoughts with their loved ones.
  19. More of the Beltway shitting out their talking points.
  20. And the usual defensive responses: These are the same figures who assured us that the GOP would not have a problem because it's all about inflation and wokeness. I already put Maga Haberman's posturing in the media thread. I do think there's a big question mark over how much this will be harnessed outside of this amendment - Kris Kobach, one of the biggest extremists in the country, won the GOP attorney general nomination so if there's any real chance of this making positive change I hope the Democrats might have some chance to win that race in November. If nothing else there is at least some semblance of Democrats being able to find a message that will resonate, enough to possibly avert a complete electoral bloodbath, which is probably why the media is so unnerved this morning. They would sell their whole family for a GOP trifecta.
  21. Thanks, @Vee that was very touching, and sincere.
