Given what a mainstay Liza was in the show's last decade, and popular with multiple actresses, it's all the more bizarre just how much they threw Liza to the wolves after Sherry left (and maybe even while she was still there). I wonder how longtime fans felt about Liza and to a lesser degree Sunny being downgraded the way they were, especially as I'd imagine many of the newer fans had no interest in Patti. It must have felt especially bittersweet for Liza and Travis fans to see Rod Arrants briefly return when Sherry wasn't there.

Wasn't NAC's contract not up yet either but they worked something out? I could see them making an arrangement with her.

While I do blame him for many of the show's ails, apathy towards black characters (if not at times outright hostility) is a longstanding issue. Given the bigotry that is at the heart of this country I wouldn't be surprised if many at ABC are involved here. I wonder if it's a coincidence that the black characters were further marginalized just as it became obvious Trump was going to win the GOP nomination (and very possibly the Presidency). I would guess Taby is leaving and they made it clear to her they weren't going to give her anything to do. The lip service about Gio is clear when he is much more interested in Joss.

Nothing against Ric Hearst, who is a very charismatic presence (even if I've never really connected to most of his soap work, I admire how much he tries - he did yeoman's work in some nonsensical parts, including the whole "Whip" period on B&B), but I don't think he's being used as stunt casting against a soap that isn't even on yet.

Sherry was there for a bit at least while Steve was still alive, although I'm not sure for how long. Thanks. I'll have to watch that clip. Steve had another song too, which didn't get as much use from the show as You Can Love Again.

I completely forgot about that. I wonder how the Blair spinoff would have fared if it had been picked up.- The Politics Thread
1) I had no idea Michael Hawkins was in this film. 2) How often does Kari Lake watch this scene?- Behind-the-Scenes Feuds & Drama: TV’s Most Dysfunctional Sets
There was so much going around about Lisa and her views at that time I am still surprised she managed a semi-comeback, but she handled her Survivor run very smartly. She now hosts Collector Call, and she does a decent job, so she's the main one I actually see of any of the four these days. Maybe that could have given her a bit of an ego. Not sure. In another thread I posted an interview with Mindy - I think she mentioned Nancy and Kim, but I can't remember if she mentioned Lisa. I could see them having each of them with a daughter and they meet up at a new Eastland. Maybe Jo, Blair, Tootie and Natalie just show up a few times a season.- The Politics Thread
That's very touching, and gracious.- Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
I think that's the Sherry Mathis era, although I may be wrong. I didn't even remember until a few days ago that there was a Liza between Meg and Sherry.- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Thanks so much @NothinButAttitude ! Almost impossible to find Loving of this period. Chris Marcantel and Perry Stephens look so gorgeous, it's almost distracting from their scenes. The casting for the younger set was smart on a physical level, even if most of them are still learning to act. You can hear some of that clunky Marland dialogue, especially in the early pool scenes. Nice to see more of Pamela Blair, given her recent passing. Was this before Patricia Kalember cut her hair?- The Pilot Thread
That would be interesting to see. The Judi version (with her real life husband) is charming. Kristen is likely playing Julie's sister.- Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
I was watching some lost media finds of 2023 video and they mentioned two versions of a game show pilot, Combination Lock. This is the second pilot, hosted by Ty Treadway. The original pilot was made in 2006 so I guess this is from a year or two later.- Behind-the-Scenes Feuds & Drama: TV’s Most Dysfunctional Sets
Some who looked mentioned that she has not been as active with Kim Fields since 2022, but was with Nancy and Lisa more recently. I agree it wouldn't have done well. Even seemingly well-received reboots like the new Saved by the Bell only ran two seasons. I'm just sorry that greed destroyed longtime friendships. It seems like everybody was on Palm Royale.- Behind-the-Scenes Feuds & Drama: TV’s Most Dysfunctional Sets

Thank you for listing his credentials. My main worry is if they just choose for optics but have someone who is steamrolled over by Vance because he is so focused on the facade of trying to get bipartisan support which I'm not sure is there anymore (I am not entirely sure how many of the voters they think he might reach who aren't already voting for the ticket will get over the sexism or racism innate in their decision). I think there are a few similar options who might have more of a reach beyond bio, but admittedly it's going to be tough no matter who she chooses.- The Pilot Thread
This was found a year or two ago, apparently. Carol Lawrence hosting Mike Douglas, cut down into a pilot for a talk show of her own. Robert Goulet, her husband at the time, is along for the ride. This is from summer/fall 1969 based on the fall preview comment at one point. The best part is probably her fashion montage at about 7 minutes in. At about 15 minutes, Carol talks with David Susskind about how permissive daytime soaps are compared to primetime. He calls them an "orgy of rape, incest, abortion," and says they get away with it because of housewives enjoying that type of material while their husbands can't see it.- The Politics Thread
Enten seems to have some personal dislike for Vance based on his tone, which makes me wonder just how vile he must be in person. You can see just who he is meant to appeal to in stories like this. I wonder how much Trump wishes he had chosen Tim Scott. He never would as he won't want a black man near such a high level of power. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/wisconsin/2024/07/23/jd-vance-rebuffed-tribal-concerns-insulted-indigenous-peoples-day/74455037007/- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2024/jul/23/roberta-taylor-obituary Roberta was brilliant on EE. Few could have made Irene work so well. I just loved watching her. Among other traits few played exhaustion and irritation as well as she did. She was so lived-in and kept Irene from seeming like a nasty trope. - Behind-the-Scenes Feuds & Drama: TV’s Most Dysfunctional Sets
