  1. I can't remember, but I don't think I ever saw a full episode with Carole. Just clips on a DVD. I miss Bev
  2. Hadn't seen this before. I loved Brooke and James together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW31hVpJS-s This has been around for a while but I hadn't seen this either. The commercial is hilarious but yikes at some of the songs. And Happy New Year is a melancholy song, Jeff and Bobbie... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DLbrtWODjY
  3. I think Dean and how he actually is with women and the persona he creates tend to be very different - you could see that with Charlie in the last episode. He never objectified her, or her lesbianism. The episode was actually one of the most mature portrayals of lesbianism I've seen on a show in a while, at least in this genre. I like that side of Dean, and the goofy side. I don't have as much interest (I have none actually!) in seeing him angst over Sam. Anyway, their grandfather, on their father's side, will be on tonight. You might be interested. It's supposed to be a new myth element outside of the angels/demons.
  4. I thought Shelley was somewhat hammy and not quite believable as Iris, until some of her last scenes, when she spoke with Mac and Rachel before leaving town. She really tapped into Iris in those moments.
  5. Since The Voice went off New Normal has sunk down to 1.1 in the demo and I think less than 4 million in the total viewers. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/01/30/tv-ratings-tuesday-the-new-normal-go-on-hit-lows-the-taste-drops-vegas-new-girl-rise/167318/ I think part of it is based on how niche everything is now. I guess even if NN fails Nene might be able to go back to Glee, which will probably have another season. I think Sue is just about done anyway, people stopped caring about her in season 2.
  6. There was a scene where Rick is with Shane and then Shane hands the gun off to Daryl, or something, and the subtext is basically that Daryl is replacing Shane. It was nicely done. I hope that with Merle around again they won't ruin the friendship between Daryl and Rick. I get the feeling a lot of fans hate Rick but I think Andrew Lincoln is just superb. I always feel for Rick.
  7. I'm happy to hear he's done so well. I remember him seeming like a good little child actor. Whedon is such a one trick pony I can't watch most of his stuff anymore but I'm glad for Clark.
  8. The ratings for New Normal are terrible. I'm pretty sure they are lower than RHOA ratings. I wonder if Nene will leave even if NN is canned, or if that might make her decide to stay.
  9. I wonder if Rick I see what you mean. It was just so tough for me to believe they would have been able to do that for months without getting bit.
  10. I liked the story, but the tone was very mocking of Val. The episode where Jill almost killed her mocked her (complete with Abby's "Poor Val"), and the followup often had her as a crazy lady, only taken seriously toward the end. I liked the idea, the story worked, but most of it was written harshly toward Val.
  11. Good riddance. They represent the absolute worst of punditry. http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2013/01/james-carville-mary-matalin-leaving-cnn-155516.html?hp=l3
  12. The stories are too trite, too college cliche focused, dated as well, but I like the vibe Lisa Bonet brought, I like early Whitley, I liked Jaleesa, and loved Stevie.
  13. I wonder if fans at the time bought Lauren's grieving for Neil. It sounds forced to me. It also sounds like the show didn't write much for the Neil character and then shoved it in after he was dead (Lauren had no idea he was a [no longer] living saint! No idea!)
  14. I just got up to mid-season 2, when Shane went completely insane and had everyone open fire on the barn (with children around, no less). I thought this was a good scene, although those scenes with Rick and Herschel and Beth's under five boyfriend bringing in the walkers with leashes just didn't make sense to me. I find it hard to believe someone wouldn't have gotten bit in the process of dragging the walkers to the barn if Herschel and the other farm people had been doing that for a while. I'm surprised at just how much I liked Maggie/Glenn right from the start. I heard some say they didn't like them until this season. Those scenes with the two guys Rick shot in the bar went on and on and seemed very stagey. I get the idea, but I did not like the execution (no pun intended). Have any of you listened to the DVD commentary for that last episode (Nebraska)? Glen Mazarra (now deposed as showrunner) talks about the actors objecting to the initial script, and the guy who plays Glenn was also on there, doing his best Eddie Haskell, essentially saying, "I didn't have a problem, but other people did." Cracked me up.
  15. Love this Traci/Lauren scene. Jess is still playing Brenda Jill at this time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxN08ZXQDhw
  16. I think Y&R had stumbled onto something with the Cricket and Jessica relationship at this time. Cricket is so bitter and cynical about her mother ('play the game'), and I must say, LLB is very good in that moment. I would have preferred this to the sappy stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_noQe5iJLM
  17. I think by then Emily's role was 3-4 days a week of verbally abusing her family (a family that could have easily booted her ass - she's lucky Tracy was not around at that time) because of Jason.
  18. I preferred that to what they made her in seasons 3-5 - increasingly self-righteous, shrill, and finally, a very brittle parody.
  19. I think if you just say that Whitley's had a rough life since ADW ended, Jasmine would be able to work in the role.
  20. I know. I think I'm the only one who feels that way.
  21. Jasmine Guy has changed a great deal so she can't play that Whitley again. The Whitley of the last season was relatively subdued, and a step in the right direction. I want to see Dawnn Lewis, the woman who played Kim, maybe Kadeem Hardison (not a huge Dwayne, he was OK). No Sinbad. Actually I wouldn't mind Lisa Bonet.
  22. It was a mockery of the character. Anyway, thanks. I'm glad that their favorite Knots moments in their tenure were also some of my favorite moments. (no comment on the awful, awful Danny Woleska - bad, heavy-handed, and most of all, boring storyline).
  23. Revenge isn't doing that well. I don't think Dallas has done as well as it was supposed to either, just enough for TNT to keep it on. These shows are tough to bring back because few who are cast in major roles today have that type of star quality. I could give you a list of ten actors who would immediately bring star quality and quirkiness and energy to a primetime soap. And not one of those people would be cast. Not one of them. No one in the industry today knows what made a primetime soap work. It was energy, characterization, pacing, and sometimes, a little bit of madness, but not always. There was a certain feeling which you just don't have now. Instead you have Jesse Metcalfe staring into space.
  24. Isn't that Josh/Lily at the start of this ad? Not sure how they're lovers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMjlodkKWnc
  25. They make Ashley look like such a vixen there, even with that choker. It's so dominatrix. I love the full hysteria and insanity of Niiki. That is Nikki at her best. It's something soaps pooh-pooh now.
