  1. Thanks. Kind of a weird ad campaign - let's have brutal closeups of middle-aged men.
  2. If that's over (although Karl is still around), I'm happy, but I'm just saying that's why I struggle with realism on this show. That's true about the bookies, but I don't know if this was ever said onscreen.
  3. That's more angst than realism. The show ignored the bookies for years and acted like it was a healthy business when no one ever went there. Now it's convenient for the plot. Katy's PPD was dropped like a hot potato after a few weeks. Tommy just got out of a ludicrous story where he was forced to become a drug dealer and suffered zero consequence for it. Izzy and Gary wanting to be parents at such a young age, after Gary had spent ages saying he didn't want a child - not too realistic for me. The way to realism is to stop - endless trials - pointless explosions and fires - pointless whodunits and serial killer stories That's not hard to do. Judging by the story that won Best Exit at the BSAs, a lot of fans are tired of this anyway.
  4. Rachel was with Willis?
  5. That's quite a find. I guess they didn't dress or style for color (some shows did even though they were B&W), if Lisa's skirt is any indication. Helen Wagner looks so different here.

  7. Hollyoaks is basically rotgut to me now, after the glorifying of domestic violence, but

  11. Perhaps the show had more plans for her, or the magazine just interviewed her because she was unique for daytime and had striking photos.

  15. I don't believe so.
  16. I wonder if it's just to leave with Jack. Since she was a knockoff of Sharon I guess it's only fitting they will likely share a story.
  17. Something I wanted to mention is that between gerrymandering and our culture at large, voting patterns have become far more partisan. You look at the elections over the last decade in states like Connecticut, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas. Colbert Busch seemed to be OK (I don't think she was terrific), but she just wasn't going to win. Sanford is scandal-plagued, but not the type of scandals that are going to turn off a lot of hardcore conservatives. They don't care if you cheat on your wife, as long as it's not with another man. He is likely a placeholder, unless SC Republicans really screw up next year in that primary.
  18. Statewide isn't the same as a district. SC is also a very Republican state and has been for the last decade in particular.
  19. Talking to myself some more... As always this show is all over the place and has terrible issues with sexism, but this is one of my favorite closing scenes ever for a finale. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzQvCNAofSo
  20. The soap press often gets it wrong. I'm just happy Barbara was basically Barbara again (well to me anyway) at the end.
  21. Me too. She could do zany comedy on GH, she can do drama too, far more than I'd realized, so if we get a soap which has good drama (I guess DAYS does sometimes), that would work. Or if the new OLTL/AMC last a while longer.
  22. Oh, and she's done convention stuff too if you ever want to watch any of that on Youtube.
  23. The episode airs tonight so I don't know. I hope not. Her character on there is great, although she doesn't appear very often If you want more character info and the episodes she's been in: http://supernatural.wikia.com/wiki/Jody_Mills
  24. They were Royce and Neal, Lucinda's half-siblings. I'm not sure she knew of their existence for most of their lives. They began working for her, pretending they didn't know each other. They were planning to con her, I think. Neal fell in love with Scott, Royce with Emily. Neal was murdered, with Scott the prime suspect (he fled town). Royce, who had DID because of his mother's abuse, had killed her. Royce dumped Emily at the altar. Royce and Lucinda made amends and he sort of became close to their other long-lost sibling, Samantha, before he left town. I'm glad you're on - I'm going to try to put up a 1969 ATWT article later.
