  1. I couldn't tell if the scene was intended to have a romantic slant, but it was interesting to see Ray's interpretation. She seems a little softer than VRF. I think Cassandra/Victor would have been a fascinating storyline, especially if she faced off against Nikki. I could see her learning about Nikki's pill addiction and keeping it to herself, and she would have had a very volatile relationship with Victoria, even moreso than Ashley did. I don't think she would have gotten on that well with Douglas either.
  2. I still miss it. I'm glad we're getting some 1981 videos, although I wonder why there aren't any 1980.
  3. I was looking at the TWOP thread for Atlanta (which had more about Peter - I don't know why Cynthia stays with him) and they said this news broke on Kenya's birthday. She must be loving it (I do think she'd be better off not saying too much on the reunion, as Phaedra would likely flay her, as she did last season). I also found this, which someone made a few years back, when Nene and her husband had split. It's much catchier than that Party song.
  4. I think they assumed they'd get a lot of buzz based on shock value (Carlton, Brandi), and then they'd have Lisa fans, Richards sisters fans, etc. But it's all a disjointed mess.
  5. Why do people always think HBO has tons of gay content?? I don't get this.
  6. Yeah, they had a fling on the Riviera. When she first came back to town in 1988 she wanted to win him back, but it never happened.
  7. Thanks! Very moving scene with Mamie and John. Is that the most Margeurite Ray ever had to do as Mamie? Ashley broke my heart with John. Wonderful work from Brenda Epperson. You can see where they'd tailored the writing for Jack and Ashley due to the recasts. Eileen's Ashley would have stomped Jack into the ground for blaming John's 50th heart attack on her. Victor seems to genuinely care so deeply about Cassandra. Yet this isn't some true love forever situation. Very refreshing. In recent years women are just hookups or property to Victor. Lots of loud sweaters on the guys. I see that Bill Bell was reusing his "I was raped in the park" story for Nan's lie to Doug Wert. Too bad they didn't have Chris Brooks on to talk to her about it.
  8. ghfan89 has been putting them on Youtube under vintageAMC. The 6 hour clip is in the videobash thread. I've been putting some of their individual episodes in the AMC thread and commenting on them. I think the one I liked best of those I've watched so far was the January 1988 episode. Sorry I know this is off topic.
  9. Eric have you been able to watch any of the AMC episodes being uploaded (86-90)?
  10. I'd forgotten Nick didn't know about it. She talks about a dream here (I wonder if it was oncamera). It sounds pretty grueling.
  11. He reminds me of Matt Ashford.
  12. It was refreshing that the show backed off of a prefab romantic pairing with Frannie/Casey and took them in more natural directions (although they never really did find a true romantic partner for JM's Frannie). Casey was so hot.
  13. I guess that must have been a later Marcia kidnapping. That was after Kim's trial? So that would have been summer 86.
  14. You mean John? Yes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQj-3SGWdUQ
  15. I'll have to watch that one soon. (I'm sort of watching late 87-spring 88 right now). I wish they'd done more with that rivalry. I watched this one a few hours ago. I love the Stuart/Cindy and Angie/Jesse scenes so much. What a nice treat to get these sweet domestic scenes for Angie and Jesse. They're very different in tone from the domestic scenes they had in AMC's last few years, but equally effective. I like seeing Jesse and Cindy bond too. We wouldn't get that type of scene on a soap now. Him coming to accept her, standing in for the audience doing the same. Ellen Wheeler and David Canary are so special together, and I love his brief scene with Myrtle. I had no idea Natalie spent this much time with Jack. I wonder if this was supposed to go somewhere? They have good chemistry. What's with all the movie plots at this time? Both Natalie and Erica had the possibility of making movies. Can you imagine them as rival movie stars? Might have been fun, anyway. Palmer's behavior is despicable. Was he really asking Jack to taunt and sexually harass Natalie? Wow. Why would he not just hire someone for that (as he did when Jack refused)? I had no idea so much of Natalie's harassment at this point was from Palmer. I thought it was Silver. Palmer's responsible for the brunt of it. I keep forgetting when I watch the Nico/Julie/Charlie/Cecily stuff that Nico and Cecily and Cecily and Charlie would later marry. It's impossible to believe that this Charlie would turn into the tooth guy. I forgot to ask - was Julia Barr pregnant around this time?
  16. Marland took over for Susan Bedsow Horgan and, I think there was someone else. Marcia and Doug kidnapped Frannie and Kim in February 1986 I believe. Or late January. The episodes are on Youtube.
  17. I know Iris is a real shrew at times but I hate to see her lose Cory Publishing. And she and Michael were lovers, so...ew. Exciting climax with Rachel and Janice. Poor Sharlene. Gregory is so judgmental. I still hope Matt and Donna can find happiness someday.
  18. Thanks for keeping these going. I haven't had a chance to watch lately (some I've seen before) but wanted to say thanks.
  19. Doctor Who won two big awards at the NTA Awards. Best Drama was a nice surprise - it's been four years.
  20. This is a perfect clip. Barbara mediating Hal and Nikki, Hal talking about his painful past - everything ATWT should be. And Kim going for the throat with Lisa.
  21. I didn't realize Jeremy and Silver had ever made love. The scene was classy and tasteful (very nice music choice). I can see now another reason why she went off the deep end when he distanced himself a few months later. Did the show just abruptly reverse course on their relationship or was this planned? I've only ever seen Hilary when she was pining about Tad, so it's great to see her in the workforce. Carmen Thomas and Susan Pratt have great chemistry together! This story feels very modern for the time - Pratt is very Sigourney Weaver in Working Girl (complete with big poofy hair). Hilary eavesdropping was a delicious moment, and my jaw dropped when she personally attacked Barbara that way. The characterization for Hilary in this episode is so complex - she's trying to be smart and she has good ideas, but she's impulsive and kind of a brat. This story had so much potential. I'm sorry it didn't go anywhere. I never knew Barbara wanted Adam. If I was watching these Erica scenes at the time, I might have thought she was being melodramatic, but with the later rewrites about Kendall, the scenes felt like a punch in the gut. Erica talking about what her father told her she would lose. Erica saying she was being "punished." Nick looking devastated as "punishment" echoes through his mind. Do you think that Agnes already had some of the Kendall story in mind at this point? I love Brooke and Adam here. So mature, trying to work through their many personal and professional problems. I'd almost forgotten Ruth and Joe were on the show, as I hadn't seen them in any of these. There's so much raw potential in some of this episode, so many building blocks, and a real style and sophistication that none of the other soaps had at this point. I'm sorry that these elements of AMC were dumped when they revamped it in 1989.
  22. Wow. That is a lot of detail. I didn't know Margaret Ladd was on this show. I'm not sure if a super-fast early storyline for a soap is ever a good idea. I guess that was typical of this era, as AW did the same, only to quickly crash.
  23. Thanks. So Erica and Travis weren't married for most of her pregnancy? Or am I messing up timelines? I wonder if Phoebe or Enid clucked over that. I hope some of these episodes might have some Erica/Silver scenes. I remember when I first started to read up on the show I wanted to know if Silver and Erica had any interaction on Silver's return stint. I know they were on that island together, thanks to the videos, so now I hope we might see that scene where Erica encourages Silver to fight for Jeremy. That scene where Silver asked Jeremy if he had any regrets over not being with Erica kind of made me a little sad.
