David Foster always came across as very creepy and arrogant to me on American Idol. I think Brandi is the show's biggest problem. She's toxic, trashy, and not in a way that provides drama the show can actually use. Last season most of it had to be edited around, and this season it's laden with racism and drunken embarrassments, like that cousin at the wedding you try your best to avoid.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Yes. For some reason the first one's CZ makes me think of how she looked when Barbara was burned (later on anyway). I thought I'd seen almost all of that story, the beginning of it anyway, so it was nice to see more. I enjoyed Casey and Tom standing out in the cold, talking about women problems. It felt natural, somehow. And then those rushed, frantic Barbara/Paul conversations. Marland always managed to make it believable when people would lie to the police or sabotage themselves. I did roll my eyes at that awful dialogue where Margo says James never did a good thing for anyone and then Tom says oh that's not true, remember when he saved you when you had your miscarriage. I guess that was supposed to be a sign of their love, but all I kept thinking was, a) she was being glb, Tom and b ) it's kind of offputting that you need to just randomly drop memories of her miscarriage out there, especially in front of other cops.- The Politics Thread
It's not so much as whether they're safe as why this is a big Congressional issue. It reminds me of hysteria about violent video games, or Janet Jackson's nipple, or music lyrics. It's Nanny State-ism.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

I thought the Mary and Carl scenes were terrific. I can understand why some people were in disbelief that Carl and Paul didn't tell Mary, but it clearly led to some great drama. Mary's hurt and anger, and Lynne's pain - terrific, human drama. I feel sorry for Carl too, having to put on such a cold front, even telling Lynne he might take over Paul's office himself (as an excuse to keep it open). David is so slimy - I guess Nina's self-esteem issues blinded her. I can't figure out what's going on with Leanne and Douglas. Is she manipulating him? Is she really attracted to him? Poor Lauren just never fits in with Mary, even when trying to console her.- Y&R: Old Articles
Watching these two new episodes (well, new to me). They really did take a great deal of planning to set up David going to woo Nina and losing all interest in Jill. She treats him like [!@#$%^&*]. it seems like they once had a fun or gossipy relationship but she changed and never let him change with her. He was on with Brenda, right? I can't remember. I wonder how different they were. I love when Rex tries to get Jill to wake the hell up about her John delusions and Jill blasts him. He just grins and grins. Esther going to work for Nina always screams of plot point to me, to the point where I keep forgetting it wasn't all some trick from Nina. Esther venting about having to wear that uniform until she can't bend over anymore made me laugh, as that has turned out to be true. So she met Tiny at Nina's place? She mentioned a plumber. Is it me or is that husky-voiced niece of Cassandra's (Brittany) exactly Victor's type? Maybe not in those years, but later on. I wonder why the show never found any role for her once the story was over. I can't say I am a big fan, but she could have gone somewhere.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

And this is the type of silly nonsense that makes me reluctant to identify with either party. http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/dems-hit-golden-globe-e-cigarettes-102215.html?hp=r6- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Matt di Angelo is returning as Deano. I actually think this is a good idea, as the character had a lot of potential, he was just stuck with bad characters and at the time di Angelo was so green. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a544018/eastenders-matt-di-angelo-returning-as-deano-wicks.html- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?

To me Carlton comes across as defensive and mostly trying to create material based on how cool she is and on how cool other people aren't if they are deemed unworthy by her. She reminds me of one of those parodies of rebellious teenagers on sitcoms. She's so busy posturing, she hasn't formed any actual relationship - the whole thing with Brandi seems forced to me.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I'm enjoying seeing her at this point, as most of what I'd seen was her confused and being used by that Mark Pinter character. I had no idea Elizabeth or Lainie were still there at this point. I guess it can't be much longer. Andy's such a sleaze, even from the start. It's sort of weird watching the shift from character-driven Dobsons to a little more plot-driven Marland.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
If it's something that is going on for a while, I agree. If it's not, I think it would be better than saying she's a star and waiting for the phone to ring.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Is Kandi's play a long engagement? If not, then I'd say doing it would have been a better PR move. It would have shown that Nene doesn't have a big ego, and isn't waiting for offers to knock down her door.- GH: Classic Thread
