So weird that this aired after Little House. One of these things isn't like the other...

Wonderful stories. The one about the little girl is hilarious. I'm glad they had fun. I know Alec Baldwin said by the end it was gloomy.

Other countries have actual immigration policies. They change laws to suit the times. Laws are created to be adapted and changed (as are borders - if America's borders had never changed, few of us would be here). America's government and media no longer believe in this. They instead choose to stagnate and point fingers. The GOP refused to go along with one, and this is what we have as a result. It's much easier to say "deport" than to actually do it, especially when these are desperate people who are going to keep trying to find ways to get here. They're trying not to get murdered. They don't care if it breaks a law. If you want to blame someone for the borders problem, then I'd say blame the far right for making this an untouchable issue.

I remember Susan Pratt trashing Claire's exit storyline. I'd forgotten Dinah came around then, and of course poor meaningless Dorie. I always wonder what they would have done with India if MKA had stayed on.

She must have only been there six months or a year, at most. The ratings weren't good at this point, and the show was very aimless. She had a very heavy focus on the Shaynes, I think, and tried for intrigue and some other things. I think one of the main problems was that these stories, like Johnny Bauer/Christine Valere, Rusty and the trucking company adventures, etc. weren't all that compelling to viewers. GL had no real identity, as P&G interference, Jeff Ryder's tenure and the end of Long's first tenure had taken it away.

Male characters like a young Ken don't exist on soaps now. Does anyone actually see Nick as a hunk? He's older than Rita now. I don't think it's too late to salvage Todd. It's all mostly trash stories, but there have been worse.

Lynn always looks good. I'm glad she is still so recognizable today. I have to laugh at the photographer likely saying, "BITE INTO THAT WATERMELON WITH MORE PASSION!! NOW!! NOW!!!!"

So much going on here. Reginald's last line cracked me up. Glad to see the Burrells moving back into the story. I'm glad you remembered that Sharlene had slept with/dated the fake Michael. I'd forgotten. Ew. Poor Sharlene. It's all kicking off over Felicia/John... Some real shocks and twists in here.

I mostly remember Gillette for her brief work on St. Elsewhere (she was perfect as Westphall's wife...you could see how he was never the same without her), but she could have been good on GL (wasn't she on Another Life too?). I don't dislike Lee Lawson but she seems very perky for a woman who spent 20-30 years raising children near the poverty line. I think Shipp left GL in early 1984 and began on GL in late 1985.

I don't even know if she was unpopular with GL viewers, or if she just left relatively quickly (she was on, what, a year?) to go to Hollywood. The show was in heavy transition at this point. The same happened with John Wesley Shipp...for such a prominent character, he had a very quick and low-key phasing out from GL. I think she was also involved with Robert Newman (whom she had a story with on GL for a while) wasn't she?

Melissa McBride and Chandler Riggs won Saturn Awards. The show also won for best cable series. Greg Nicotero won a special award. Really happy to see these talented people getting more recognition. This is Nicotero's terrific acceptance speech video, featuring cameos from some familiar faces.

They lost their races, but the GOP still did well in picking up Senate seats overall, in places like Wisconsin that are supposed to be swing states. 2012 was a different story, somewhat, but was also a Presidential election year. The nursing home stuff is very sordid, but I can't see that becoming nationalized either. I agree, but I feel like there are broad attacks from the GOP against defense attorneys in general (the Dem nominee for governor in SC is getting these types of attacks). I do think the laughing is offputting. The best she can probably do is apologize.
