  1. Fox News fans support transgender rights...much to the bafflement of Fox News host who'd expected them to go wild. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/fox-transgender-bathrooms-outrage
  2. That comment is very rude, but to the fans who have been waiting almost 20 years for answers to basic questions, hearing a writer say they just don't have time because they only write under very specific conditions and they have so much else going on in their career - I can see why that stings. The books and the TV shows have also become very separate entities, so people who don't care about the show must be doubly annoyed. That doesn't excuse endless, gruesome speculation over GRRM's health, and I can see why that angers him, but I don't think it's just that fans are ungrateful or callous.
  3. I didn't even see her name on the list. I think she deserved a nomination just based on performance. She was barely in this season, but she did some great work. I loved her scene with Margaery where she spoke about her late husband. She thought he was an idiot, but she loved him.
  4. Game of Thrones got 19 Emmy nominations. I'm sorry that more of the cast didn't get recognition, but I'm glad Lena Headey got one (this is her first I believe). And Peter Dinklage, who's won before, but has a decent chance this year (him or Aaron Paul). http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/tv/la-et-st-emmy-nominations-2014-list-story.html#page=1
  5. Thanks, marceline. I've always had a soft spot for Stacey Dash, all the way back to Clueless, so seeing her on Fox News talking about how she's happy that her 11 year old calls Obama a "golem" makes me kind of sad. Whatever pays the bills, I guess.

  8. I'm sorry to hear that.
  9. My thoughts on the other recasts shown here: Robyn Millan - she looked too old for the role. Very affected. I have no idea if she was meant to last longer than she did. Nancy Barrett - I loved Nancy on Dark Shadows, but she seemed very wan and strangely insecure here, and again she looked a little old for the material, not helped by the terrible styling of the show Mary Carney - she was OK. The problem was I didn't like Mary Ryan, I never liked Mary, even with Kate Mulgrew, although Kate salvaged some of the material with her charm and chemistry with co-stars. Kathleen Tolan - wretched. One of the top three worst recasts in all of daytime history. Anti-chemistry with Michael Levin, inability to speak, bull-in-a-china shop line readings. She's the main reason Mary was killed off IMO. Nicolette Goulet - again, odd line readings. Not much chemistry with Levin. The problem for her was that by this time the show had lost track of who Mary was as a character. Siobhan had also stolen much of her thunder. I do think she was very good in her last few weeks in the role, especially her final confrontations with Jack.
  10. John Blazo was a hot hot piece of ass, and a sensitive, understated actor with a good wry humor. I have always thought the show did him a huge disservice with his material, complete with a truly bizarre scene where he and Nana Visitor laid in bed together talking about how they looked like brother and sister. Apparently Claire Labine was writing Game of Thrones before GRRM did.
  11. I don't really know that much about Cleveland. I've heard some people say it's lost a lot of its business and heard others say it's doing well.
  12. Oh wow. That's terrible. I'm so glad you're OK.
  13. Ugh Robyn Millan. I wish I'd seen her on Where The Heart Is. She was awful as Delia.
  14. I saw some posts at DS from Brendan fans trashing JP's rape story as a ripoff of Brendan's. Of all the things to criticize that awful story for. I guess they aren't interested enough in that gay zombie show Emmett Scanlan slurs his way through, that has about 3 viewers.

Rosie is a bad idea for any permanent job on a talk show. She starts out as sharp and fun and becomes a black hole of bitterness and unresolved childhood baggage.
  16. They even had Stephen Nichols repeatedly do intros explaining that MBE was fine. I've rarely seen this with a temp recast situation. There are other clips. As someone in the comments section pointed out, she looks a lot like a younger Joy Garrett (Jo #1). Not sure what the casting had in mind.

  19. December 1973 TV Radio Mirror. Don Stewart's ribald love life was one of the mainstays of 70s soap articles, along with the marital troubles of Ed Mallory and the very happy marriage of Eileen Fulton (oops). I think toward the end of the decade he revealed that he was married with a child and had just kept quiet about it. Hot photo though. A few years later more soap guys like Joel Crothers and George Reinholt started doing this more often.

  23. Looks good. I hope the Carol fans enjoyed that. Poor Judith never gets a break.
