  1. Thank you so much for the article. Great to hear more from people like Stanley Kamel (I guess he finally got those sympathetic primetime roles later on) and to see those photos. You can always tell it's a '70s soap article if there are mentions of EST, meditation, therapy, or if someone is holding a guitar. I never knew Alice and Julie were heavily at odds. I'd like to see that, to see that harder side of Alice.
  2. I like Donny too. I'll be happy if Zach makes the 3 they call out at the end for the vote.
  3. The little i've seen of her, she seemed more butch, and also more believable as a mother figure to the Abbott kids. I wonder what their relationships were like with Deborah in the role.
  4. That makes sense. Dana's character did mention a Cody. Wasn't he with Cricket? I guess I never knew he was with Barbara.
  5. Well, this is rare. Some footage from a summer 1981 episode. This is strike material, as it involves that story about Natalie's film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo5X7xAdwFs I wonder who that guy is with Barbara.
  6. Thanks for reading all these.
  7. I've been watching the divorce saga with my mother (who watched some of the '70s but not past the early '80 and didn't start again until the late '80s, so to her Brenda's 80's version of Jill was a total stranger), and I hadn't seen a lot of it before. I feel like at some points Brenda genuinely does try to add some fragility, nuance, and subtlety to her roadshow Joan Crawford act, especially when she's with Jeanne Cooper or Terry Lester. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZO4Cd24-U4&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rskAlADfO0Y&index=75&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pcsL43u_Bk&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw&index=73 It seemed like by her last year she'd just retreated totally behind the mask and stopped trying. It's a shame. I wonder if she had stayed, if she could have pulled it back. I must say it's incredibly hilarious how Jill tells Michael Crawford nothing and he just has to try to blindly pace through this and try not to show her how angry he is/how much he wants her. It's like a parody of the superlawyer that we so often get on soaps.
  8. Thanks for the extra details, Paul Raven. I read it as Lucas wanting him to for nefarious reasons. I'm glad that wasn't the case. In one of those later Lorie clips, she forlornly calls Lucas her "best friend." And that made me so sad, because no soap today would write a strong friendship between a man and a woman.
  9. Is that Teresa Blake in this ad?
  10. KMG ad (with awful hair and makeup).
  11. I didn't know police were called either. I know Jeanne Cooper had a lot to do with it, but given Bergman's newcomer status (2 years) at this time, he was lucky to keep his job. In today's soap world the "press" would choose sides and demand the actor they dislike get fired. I wonder what the additional injuries were...
  12. December 1991 Weekly
  13. December 1991 Weekly
  14. This doesn't have much for Jane but does have a nice photo with Kin Shriner. It's from a December 1991 Soap Opera Weekly.
  15. This is more about Mary Stuart than SFT, but not sure where else to put it. It's from a December 1990 Weekly.
  16. Reading these summaries just makes me wonder why Brenda Dickson felt Jill had changed so much since her exit. Is it because at this point Jill was scheming for love, or for Philip's protection, whereas in her second run Jill was out for herself?
  17. Someone already mentioned this too, in briefer form, but: James Carroll is listed as temping for Mark Derwin as GL's Mallett starting Dec. 30, 1991. Derwin broke his ankle.
  18. soapfan770 (do they still post here?) mentioned this a few years ago, but to add more detail, a December 1991 Weekly mentioned that Mira Sorvino would temp as GL's Julie for a month (Jocelyn Seagrave was ill) and her first airdate would be Dec. 25.
  19. It reads like they had no idea what to do with Jill by this point. I wonder if she interacted with Nikki at this time. I had no idea Lucas tried to send Lance to his death. I'd love to see Vanessa's reaction to that.
  20. I felt sorry for her with the Super Bowl fiasco, that she got all the blame, that Timberlake left her hanging out to dry and essentially used her and black fans when he needed support for his career and then ran away, but I also felt like if she'd had a stronger career, she would have survived it. I think somewhere along the way she lost that sense of identity and name value that someone like Madonna had, even if Madonna also stopped being as big of a draw by that point. I haven't seen the Alright video in ages. So much fun; nice way to honor legends too.
