  1. I always loved this too. The "tough girl" posturing of WHYDFML and Nasty Boys doesn't wear well when they're playing as much as those songs were played for a long time. The playfulness of this is infectious, and while the video always looks like some amateur production, it has a certain charm.
  2. I think Janet from 85-93 produced the best pop music around. Even Rhythm Nation, which is a little ponderous (although I do like "The Knowledge") very badly dated, has some wonderful, infectious pop songs. Sometimes the songs are a little samey, but the mix of edge and accessibility on the uptempo numbers and the plaintive quality of the ballads hold up very well. She was so good in these years it was easy to take it for granted. My favorite videos and songs. She always made this "hanging out, just folks" stuff in her videos seem much less forced than it should have been. It's a cheesy song but I always thought it was pretty, as is the video. By the late '90s I feel like she lost her identity and began trying too hard, and there is some type of overwhelming sadness surrounding her.
  3. This is Brenda Epperson at the start, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTIr-OajBtE&index=1&list=UU5_zkWVlDr_tHcGmoTso2kQ
  4. I posted this a few years ago, but anyway:
  5. Budig looks a lot like Susan Batten these days.
  6. Thank you. Victor is still Victor, but he has a little more charm and humor. I laughed when he said "Loriebrooks." I'd forgotten how much he called people by their full name. I liked that Lorie was wary of him but still amused by him, and they were written as relative equals, unlike most of Victor's women after Bill Bell stopped writing the show. Lance is just so blah and he feels dated. I know JLB said she was burnt out by this point but I really enjoy her work here. She's so much better at the nuances and quiet moments. I wish they'd brought Lorie and Brooks back and focused on his abandonment issues and all of her dramas. That story would have written itself. And imagine she and Jill commiserating over this, while also being at odds. How long was this after they went to an hour? Did Chris or Peggy have any involvement in this story?
  7. Jon Walsh was never really getting traction and then he dropped out because of plagiarism accusations. The woman running now is trying her best but it's a huge longshot. What do you all think of the race in Kansas? Some think that Republicans will lose governor, secretary of state, AND Senate. I don't see it happening, especially not this year, but I guess we can live in hope. Disgusting: http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2014/09/were_gov_bentleys_comments_abo.html
  8. I hadn't seen this episode before. There are some wonderful Iva scenes in this after she finally learns about Kirk/Ellie - some of Lisa Brown's best work. And there's a terrific scene between Lily and Barbara when Barbara says she has to teach Lily a lesson over lying to her about employing Emily, and Barbara is SO arrogant, and Lily swears revenge. I love that side of Heather Rattray's Lily. I wish they hadn't dropped it. This clip has Barbara going off on Emily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLlrZJjkUuY
  9. I haven't watched much. I saw that The Sun is claiming the ratings have fallen 1.3 since that odious Collinson left so they may have to do another stunt and bring back Curly or Spider. I liked Spider and Curly was OK too but I'm not too sure they'd bring in the ratings... I think Collinson destroyed what was left of Corrie and I'm not sure it can be brought back.

  11. Bitsa was a show that ran on CBBC from 1991-1996. The hosts came up with wacky contraptions children could also use to feel creative and pass the time. Much like Doctor Who in some ways. Fittingly enough, the last scenes of the last episode have a surprising nod to Doctor Who. Given that these were the wilderness years of Doctor Who, it's like keeping the show alive, in a way. Nice of them to use this to say goodbye.
  12. I think JLB could have fit DAYS, but Reilly's writing style called for histrionics, and she more than delivered. She was histrionic even here at times, to the point of distraction (her reactions to Leslie's paternity reveal, for instance), but she's also more restrained at other times. Even in the 1981/early 1982 material I think Lorie still had such vibrancy as a character and it felt like she had matured. I can see why JLB wanted to go but watching this I feel like if she'd stayed they could have still found use for her in the new era of Y&R. Of course these are just clips. I might feel differently watching full episodes day after day.
  13. Thank you for the clip. JLB is very subdued here, which is a nice change of pace. She adds some weight to it. Those melodramatic speeches from Robert are too ridiculous to believe, but Peter Brown has presence (and as always is kind of oddly hot) even as the character seems like something from a radio soap. i like how they are playing Perry Mason - I didn't realize the story was told this way. I thought it was more pure melodrama. I also like her country music blouse. Was that Victor and Eve in a quick shot? I'm not sure if I posted it (if I did it was years ago) but JLB and Peter Brown were on the cover of SOD around this time. I guess he must have been planned as Lorie's love interest.
  14. I think all of it was already uploaded by YRFan23, saynotoursoap, and others (this uploader is using his own material, I just mean these scenes have been on Youtube before or still are), but if any of you want to see if there is any new material, he's uploaded some Sheila/Lauren and farmhouse stuff, and the catfight. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw/videos
  15. I don't have that but when I have a chance I'll look and see what I may have.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhue3wUnQlQ&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw The story so quickly became all about Nick and Alex was just there to move the plot along and be his harridan mother.
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_lc8pJ6gJs "I don't see what good it does to hold on to this anger." "It's fun!" Beverlee really knew how to play that bitch-with-a-broken-heart role. I just wish they hadn't bogged Alex down with this Nick material.

  19. Mitch, I know how much you love watching these therapy sessions. This is a lengthy session with Susan and Bob. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bfoKVXrwNs&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw
  20. This clip and part 4 should come before the others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWLHsP3e4Oo&index=5&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw
