Iris receives a mysterious phone call

Allen walks into Rachel’s office, and Rachel is sitting at her desk.

Allen: Hey I saw Amanda’s office cleaned out. What happened?

Rachel: I told her to take a leave of absence.

Allen: Why?

Rachel: I’m sorry but I do not have to explain my business decisions to you.

Allen: Amanda works her ass off, and you tell her to take a leave of absence. You are REALLY a control freak.

GENOA CITY, WISCONSIN…

Jake is sitting at a table in the Athletic Club when someone walks up to him.

Jake: Hello. I’m glad you could make it.

Ashley: Jake McKinnon?

Jake: You must be the lovely Ashley Abbott.

Ashley Abbott sits down across from Jake, and she’s holding a file.

REGINALD’S SUITE

Iris walks in.

Iris: What’s the problem?

Reginald: You really should be more mindful of the company you keep.

Iris: So are you sending people to watch me now? Or are you sending one of your watchdogs?

Reginald: You’re joking, but I’m not, because if this ship starts to sink, you’re going down.

Iris: And that would be a trip for two, because you would be going with me.

Rachel: Excuse me?

Allen: I didn’t stutter.

Rachel: You know all this stuff with those writers being signed on, and then pulling out. I wonder if you know something about that…since you signed them on.

Allen: Are you accusing me of something Rachel?

Rachel: I’m just thinking out loud.

Allen: What you did to Amanda was a big mistake. She’s a smart business lady, and she knows what she’s doing, and you need to stop trying to run her life.

Rachel: You don’t tell me what to do Mr. Lovett, and you can show yourself out of my office.

Rachel gets a phone call, as Allen leaves, but he stops outside the door….

Rachel (on the phone): What? You can’t be serious! Oh no. We don’t have a choice. We’re gonna have to sell.

Allen has overheard Rachel and leaves.

Ashley: McCall.

Jake: Sorry…Mrs. McCall. You got what I want in that file?

Ashley: What’s in here can’t go beyond this table. This is confidential.

Jake: Of course not.

Ashley: As soon as you said Allen Lovett my ears perked up, but I don’t want to subject Jabot to any lawsuits by releasing this information, but I had your P.I. firm checked out by Paul Williams. You’re fine.

Jake: Well you’re not giving it to me. You’re taking that file back to the office.

Jake takes out his camera phone as Ashley slips him the file, as Jake started taking pictures.

Ashley (lowering her voice): When he worked in our finance department, money started going unaccounted for.

Jake: You didn’t bring any charges against him?

Ashley: The money was always miraculously replaced so we couldn’t prove anything.

Jake: Really? I mean how much was missing?

Ashley: Thousands and thousands of dollars.

Jake: Wow. He’s a slick one isn’t he?

Ashley: I’d say so.

Jake: He’s got to be stopped before he does this to someone else.

Reginald: Iris my dear, this is all your grand plan to take over your father’s company.

Iris: And you’re involved with Grant’s shooting.

Reginald: I didn’t shoot Grant.

Iris: You’re an accessory. You have just as much to lose as I do.

Someone knocks on the door. Reginald answers and Allen walks in. “Rachel is going to sell.” He says.

Reginald: Wow. You’ve outdone yourself haven’t you?

Iris’s cell phone rings. “I have to take this outside.” She says running out the door.

Allen: So?

Reginald: So what?

Allen: What about my mother?

Reginald: You’re not done yet Allen. I will have your mother released…when Cory Publishing is sold.

Iris (in a low voice): What the hell are you doing in Bay City? Sharlene Hudson is being taken care of. You don’t have to go around town following her! Don’t worry about Reginald. I will handle him. You’d better get out of town before you’re caught!
