Fringe Ratings Report: ABC Daytime Programming -- Week of August 3, 2009

ABC Stands as Daytime's No. 1 Network in Women 18-49 for the 4th Straight Week, Outperforming Key Competitors CBS and NBC by 20%

Delivering its Largest Summer Audience of 2009 in Viewers and Key Women, "The View" Hits a 5-Month High in Women 18-49 and 3-Month High in Women 18-34

All ABC Shows Place in Daytime's Top 5 in Women 18-49,

with 3 of the Top 5 in Women 18-34

ABC Daytime

* Towering over key competitors by double-digit percentages, ABC ranked as Daytime's No. 1 network in target Women 18-49 (1.2 rating/786,000) for the 4th consecutive week,, overshadowing CBS (1.0 rating/676,000) and NBC (1.0 rating/649,000) by a solid 20%.

* This week stood as "The View's" most-watched week of Summer 09 in Total Viewers (3.68 million) and core Women, hitting a 5-month high in Women 18-49 (890,000 - since week of 3/30/09) and a near 3-month high in Women 18-34 (308,000 - since week of 5/18/09).

* In Women 18-49, all ABC shows placed among Daytime's Top 4: "The View" (No. 2 - 1.3 rating/890,000), "General Hospital" (No. 3 - 1.2 rating/767,000), "One Life to Live" (No. 4T - 1.1 rating/753,000) and "All My Children" (No. 4T - 1.1 rating/735,000).

BTW, for those interested, there are about 66,300,000 women 18-49 TV viewers in the US.

Based on this stat, the cutoff for a 1.2 rating in women 18-49 (or 1.2%) is 763,000. 763,000 women 18-49 viewers gets you a 1.2 rating in the women 18-49 demo (because it comes out to 1.150%, rounded up to 1.2), while 762,000 women 18-49 viewers gets you a 1.1 rating in that demo (because it comes out to 1.149%, rounded down to 1.1). In other words, had GH gotten just 5,000 less women 18-49 viewers this week, it would've received a 1.1 rating instead of a 1.2 rating in that demo.

The ratings for ATWT are so close to GL's numbers. ATWT is a goner. Y&R with a 3.2 on Friday...LOL. The day Nikki was run over by dumb Ashley...LOL. Looks like viewers are tunning out.

      I was bummed at the time.  AMC had 3 books going so far as the introductions of Brooke and Dona Beck.  I think GH had 2 books.  I was anticipating more OLTL.  My guess is that they did not sell well.

      Roman sitting with Kayla, thanking John for raising his kids… and Josh saying goodbye to a lifelong friend - total tearjerker . Can’t wait to see Carrie, Sami, Hope, and Jennifer comforting Marlena. Bo and Marlena’s reunion is going to be so emotional. I guess because of the long-time rift between Deidre and Suzanne, we won’t get any Marlena and Maggie scenes? That’s really too bad. Maggie should be there.

      So far, Canada has been one day ahead for six episodes. @Toups @Errol  any official word on this?       I guess that's why I never could hate Drake Hogestyn or John Black so much that I wanted him off the show.  DH always came across (on screen and off) as the ultimate "team player," who never phoned it in or mistreated his colleagues or fans in any way.
