ATWT: Jennifer's End Is Near

I think so too AMS.

Even with the Maddie stuff it was still okay, the Dallas scenes in the beginning where a little much but with Margo talking about her own rape ordeal and stuff...I believe this is an Emmy contender.

I can't believe people thought the Maddie scenes were out of place! With the high emotion, I thought it was a nice continuation on the drama. The only other option I can think of is the Simon/Katie stuff which would've been TERRIBLE for an Emmy submission. What felt out of place to me were PEM! How could they be going on about this stuff when Paul's sister is going to die?

Maybe it's just me, but it felt like Jennifer was never going to die. They definitely were stretching it out over the week. By today I was beyond ready for her to go and those scenes with Dusty did nothing for me. Then I saw the preview for next week and I see why I felt nothing for Dusty...

Barbara was the star of this show for me. I'd love to see her return to her roots and find a love interest. I had hoped this would bring Hal and Barbara back together, but that obviously can't happen now. :( The biggest problem is that Jean doesn't write for Barbara so I don't see her getting the story she deserves. It'll most likely be about Dusty.

Something I've been noticing is that Margo is featured a lot more. I wonder if this is the start to her being an actual character again. I know Ellen Dolan said she wasn't renewing her contract if they weren't going to use her, so it could be that. With the rumored summer storyline and the exit of Hal, they'll have to throw some of the weight on her. Hopefully it's a success and she ends up on the frontburner and paves the way for the other vets.

BTW, was I the only one annoyed that they didn't call Nikki or any of Jennifer's other siblings? Where was Parker, her brother? And now that I think about it, they never said anything about Lily's birth mother when she had her accident. I don't expect these people to come back, but you can call them.

The writing definitely could've been improved in this aspect. This is the biggest issue I have with ATWT. Most of their stories demand history, but they ignore it or rewrite it. It cheapens the story for me.

Don't count out Parker just yet ;)

As far as Nikki...ITA with ya.

I agree that I didn't find Maddie's scenes all that bad yesterday. In the beginning, they were kind of annoying, but the parts w/ Margo, when she was telling Maddie about her own rape, were amazing.

And then they tied everything in perfectly by taking those characters and getting them involved in Jen's death in the end. It's almost to say that, despite everything, everyone is pretty much family on the show. That's how closely-tied the characters are to one another on the show.

Yeah, that scene where Casey walks in and hugs Will definitely stood out. There was just something about it...they didn't even need to say anything, their actions alone were powerful enough. I burst into tears at that scene. :(

ITA w/ everything you said. This could be a good way to get more of the vets air-time, but I think Jean has a certain amount of characters that she'll only write for, and since I'm betting that P&G isn't complaining about the lack of air-time for older characters, it's bound to continue this way.

I think it will only change if the viewers do something, but people have been complaining about it for years w/ no avail. I write to the show at least once a week--sometimes I'm nice, other times I'm pretty nasty. Last week I wrote a scathing letter to them about how they should give the vets more air-time. But the only time my letter winds up on the ATWT website is when I say something praising the show, so...who knows if they even care.

I'm still shocked that we saw Barbara, Hal, Kim, and Bob as much as we did though. I was really pessimistic about the storyline b/c I thought that they'd make it all about Dusty and PEM, and in the beginning it looked that way, but they definitely turned it around.

Where was Parker, her brother?
The scenes were taken out. I think its at CBS.com for the thurday recap it says
Carly learns about Jen from Jack and forces herself to keep a distance on several levels, explaining with two meanings to Parker about how sometimes you have to say goodbye.

They probably edited it out at the last minute. I'm not sure what they replaced it w/, but if it was more scenes between Jen and her family, then I'm glad they did it.

Not to be rude, but I'm glad that they didn't include Carly and Jack in it. They should wait until the funeral, like hopefully they'll do w/ the other characters. If they included Jack and Carly, then they would also have to include people like Lisa, Nancy, Lucinda, and so many other characters. I liked what they did w/ Tom and Margo, waiting to include them until the end when Jen finally passed away. I know that Parker is Jen's half-brother, but the two of them weren't close at all when Jennifer Ferrin took over the role. Anyone remember that time when they did a scene where Jen talked to Carly and Jack and the kids? They acted as if she wasn't even related to Parker.

I know I already commented on it, but something about that scene...it just touched me like I've never been touched by a soap ever before. Maybe it's because I *love* the teens (and as much as I try not to, I feel a great relation to them) and because I love the performers so much, but that scene just killed me. To see the three of them, who have already gone through SO MUCH together over the last year and a half, just give it up and rely on each other for strength. Casey wasn't close to Jennifer at all, but his love for his two best friends took over and really proved that he has matured greatly since Summer 2005. It just broke my heart to see the three of them and it just solidified my undying love for these characters (and everyone else) even further.

You just made me get teary... :(

I agree.

However, I PRAY that Katie doesn't come anywhere NEAR Jenn's funeral (if she's having one).

The !@#$%^&*] will make the situation all about herself and look out of place, especially after the skank bedded Jenn's husband which led to her going into early labor.

Gosh, I HATE THAT SKANK!!!!!

A part of me will never forgive Katie for what she did at Jen and Mike's wedding. She was disgusting back then. And then when she told Craig that Jen was pregnant w/ his child, I wanted to strangle her. I always liked Mike w/ Jen...they were really cute, especially when they did the Street Jeans together. I hated what the writers did w/ that couple. Remember how long it took for them to finally get a divorce? I still can't believe that Mike dumped Jen after she lost her baby and went overboard, and that he wasn't there when Jen got Johnny back. Instead, they had him involved w/ stupid BJ Green, and they had Jen shack up w/ Dusty.

And of course, there's the horrible stuff she did to Henry, her supposed-best-friend. No wonder he'd rather waste his time w/ a psycho like Emily.

After that, I hope Mike and Katie never have children together. They can't even take care of poor Snickers. The only reason that the bunny is still alive is b/c of Henry, Alison, Nancy, and other characters that show up from time to time to either feed him or babysit him. One time, Nancy had to show up to feed the poor thing lettuce...and then she caught Maddie and Casey making out.

I do hope, though, that Mike finds out about Jen's death, even if he doesn't show up for the funeral (if they do have one). He is Jen's ex-husband, after all.

I'll say it again. :P Don't count Parker out just yet ;) You might see him at the funeral.

There was also supposed to be a Tom/Emily scene yesterday, it was spoiled I think in the Soapnet daily spoilers that Tom would server Emily a summons...

IA! I was so mad at Katie for just showing up to the wedding and then showing up for Johnny's funeral after taking a romp with Mike just several days before. Common sense and Katie haven't always been the best of friends  . Her heart was in the right place I suppose but I don't know where the hell her brain was. I would have kept my distance. I loved how Dusty ran her off before she got a chance to get inside.

But Mike really does need to know because that was his first wife and they did share something special at one moment in time.

I cried all week except for Friday. Knowing that she was at peace now helped, as silly as that may sound.

I really didn't like how Katie stuck her nose all up in Jennifer's business regarding her baby...first off, the matter didn't concern her and even if her brother was the father, it wasn't her place to go running to tell him.

Although Mike and Jennifer did have closure, it would be fitting for him to pay respects to her by going to the funeral....But knowing Dusty, his hate for everyone, will most likely snap that he doesn't belong there.

I seriously hope that Johnny winds up with someone other than Dusty...I seriously don't see Dusty having him long. If he says that Craig is a terrible father, then Dusty won't be any better...If anyone should have Johnny in their care, it should be Barbara...

Katie claimed that she was doing it for her brother's sake but I didn't buy that for a minute. She was doing for her own selfish reasons.

I think Dusty is going to be a great father to Johnny and that is what Jenn wanted. No he is not perfect and made his share of mistakes but who hasn't? Until he does something to make me think otherwise, I want him to be a father to that baby. His mother is gone and to have him taken away from the only man he knows as his father would be too much in his young life.

Just finished watching Friday's episode....I had tears in my eyes. Oh man, it was such a sad episode. :( I loved the Barbara/Gwen scene, CZP was so amazing in that scene. The acting, writing and directing was perfect.
