LOS ANGELES -- Sanaa Lathan is getting ready to carve out a place for herself on FX's operatic drama "Nip/Tuck."

The "Something New" star is in negotiations to be a regular on the show's fourth season, which is scheduled to begin in the fall. She'll play a trophy wife who comes into the lives of Drs. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

With the Carver now plying his trade in Europe, it would seem that business at the McNamara/Troy plastic-surgery practice might return to normal this season -- "normal" being a relative term on a show that's featured an exquisitely crafted male-to-female transgender person, white supremacists and Sean's unusual attachment to a blow-up doll.

Lathan's character will step into that world via her rich older husband, who ends up buying the practice from Sean and Christian.

"Nip/Tuck" will be Lathan's first regular TV work since the comedy "LateLine," which had a brief run on NBC in 1998-99. Her film credits, in addition to "Something New," include "Love & Basketball," "Out of Time," "Blade" and "Alien vs. Predator."

Well it's nice to hear news about the new Nip/Tuck season...anyone know when the season will begin? Late Summer, Fall? Hopefully it lasts longer than through December this year.

It's nice seeing an African American regular on the show - I wonder if the show has been criticized for that and this is their answer? I know some of my black friends always mention "They never have any black people on this show".

    • Agree. Much more miss than hit. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I thought clothing was supposed to be flattering. A lot of the Y&R women are seen in the tight solid color dresses ,often with cutouts/one shoulder. Now that may be a fashion but to have all of them in interchangeable dresses... Do the characters have a particular color pallette/style that is unique to them? BTG does a better job in that department. Some recent Y&R looks. I actually like the dress but we see that style too often.   Nikki's new look is not to my liking.
    • The first show I found had Maeve dressed horribly, and I just shook my head and thought she must've been thrilled to be portraying someone much more sophisticated and rich. Vanessa's hats and gloves probably cost more than her AW character's entire wardrobe.
    • It is the least aware sobriety memoir I've ever read. No spoilers, but where was the editor to ask what she learned from all the stories in her life?
    • Well awards like these are certainly different from big name award shows in a few ways but this is an awards show, not a poll. Not the same gravitas, not the same cachet, etc. but an actual awards presentation show is going to happen. We Love Soaps used to have one. The Webbys, etc. various.  But if you are aware of a better place for this to be posted, then say so, but to be clear, NOT A POLL.
    • Ok I just bought Kim's book on Amazon... should be an interesting read.
    • Well, I think she's trying to be funny, and it's technically accurate, if misleading. If you leave out the Sonni part it's "Josh left Reva to (go to) Venezuela shortly before Reva had her miscarriage because of Vanessa." I guess "Josh left Reva after finding out the child she was carrying was his father's, and miscarried because of her drugged out step-daughter-in-law, where he met a woman with split personality..." isn't as "snappy". As for Robert, I thought he clicked with Harley and Annie, not so much Olivia. I'm on the fence about Sonni. Before Reva came to town, he crapped out with Morgan and Hillary, but a) I don't think anyone really had chemistry with Jennifer Cooke, who was not good, and b) I don't think the romance with Hillary was ever much more than filler. (oooh, Josh and Katie might've been cute...) But, after Reva, Josh was never really chem tested with actresses. I know there was some kind of flirtation with Jenna, which still seems odd to me (especially since Jenna was hiding a pregnancy).  But other than Cassie, Josh got involved with other women (from what I recall) when either he was out of town, or Reva was presumed dead. He didn't bust up with Reva and start dating around town.
    • Thanks for the info. Timm was a model for years, so one could speculate he may have done something like nudity etc... that violated CBN's moral clause. He was good in the role. He had an awesome mop of 80's blow dried hair that would rival Ted McGinley.....LOL
    • Before I met Reva, I really did enjoy Josh and Annie. The beginning of their relationship was really cute, the flirting and chemistry was there. I was fully into it, but then I learned who Jeva was and realized it couldn't sustain. I just read a few interviews that Kim gave online, and it's pretty clear she loves her wine, which I love. I'm a wine guy too, so I'm not surprised she had to have a little here and there to get through some things.
    • Opinion polls conducted by soap podcasters are not the same as "soap opera award shows".
