I'm on Day Two of being dumbfounded by the Ethan storyline, Nathan Dean exit, and Christian Howard recasting.
I'm hard-pressed to remember anything that has been botched like this on a soap. It's just stunning incompetence. Every element of it was sloppy.
Was there ever a plan if ND stayed? What was it? Was his last tape day a big surprise? Was there an audition for this one-week recast role? Or did Frank just point to the photo of a good-looking guy with a hot body and say "He'll do"?
What accounts for the writing the recast got? Why deepen the romantic involvement with Ava? What sense did that make? Why have Eithan become a completely different person and be intensely nervous afraid when he saw the mystery guy? Why have Ethan become someone who runs out of fear?
I am completely lost as to how any of this happened.
