Same. His shoutout to DAYS and the genre says so much about his character. It's a nice change of pace to see movie stars not talking down on other mediums.

If and when he does his DAYS cameo, I'll watch for that.

I think it was several days or a week or two.

Yeah they gave her a full arc, promotion, and everything from what I remember.

I have always loved Ryan Gosling. Not only do I find him incredibly attractive and hot, but I think he's a really good actor.

These DAYS stories only make me love him more.

Same. And my love for him and how versatile he is has only grown as he has grown older and BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a personal favorite.

Here's hoping this leads to a guest star role...

After giving a shoutout to soap opera legend Deidre Hall on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ryan Gosling was invited by the actress to visit the set of 'Days of Our Lives.'

And he said: YES!

"Deidre Hall, are you kidding me?! A very enthusiastic yes to a very cordial invitation to visit you on set," he said in a video shared by Eva Mendes. "I will be there to thank you in person for being my OG acting inspiration. It wasn't Marlon Brando in 'On the Waterfront.' It was 𝘺𝘰𝘶!"

👉️ Swipe to see the full exchange.

Deidre has not always gotten the credit for how good she is as Marlena. I also liked her a lot on Our House. I was thrilled she got asked to appear on Hacks. Now this. Just really sweet for her, and by osmosis, the show.

There is a list of absolute titans in acting that the Emmy’s didn’t honor because they didn’t start soon enough, or they just didn’t get nominated enough. People like Beverlee McKinsey who was an undisputed powerhouse, and both she and Zaslow should have had lots of Emmy’s like Geary, Zimmer, Slezak and Flannery. But you also have the talented actors/big stars that had long soap careers and were often leads, and just didn’t get nominated enough/win. People like Deidre, Jackie Zeman, Denise Alexander. Had the younger actor category been around I bet Genie and Kin would both have Emmy’s from their early GH run. Huge stars and all of them got to play from light comedy to tragedy. Marlena is one of the handful of soap legends that the wider public and pop culture knows. Folks like Luke & Laura, Victor Newman, Susan Lucci, Marlena. She should have won a couple of Emmy’s.

Maybe they could shoehorn a Halloween themed or some other holiday standalone episode featuring Gosling, so that we don't have to wait until 2028. You just KNOW he's going to be sporting some yellow contact lenses... :)

All the recent talk made me realize how the ABC soaps and the NBC soaps (even Passions!) have been culturally relevant whereas the Bell soaps… not that much really!

It's been such a treat since first seeing that clip over the weekend. How awesome.

Would be a lot of fun if he actually appeared on the show. I know it's a completely different time, but the cameo from my Days-watching days is LeAnn Rimes' guest starring role. hehe Was it only a day?

I think Y&R has (maybe not these days).

The whole discourse about relevance's made me realize that you're culturally relevant if you push the envelope - thematically. The ABC soaps have always been progressive in that sense and historically that's paid off. Even with DAYS' possession you could tell there was a cultural knowledge and appreciation of gothic themes, Catholic religion and so on, and that sustained the fun and camp.

Y&R has pushed the envelope in the past so maybe it has a place on the list of culturally relevant shows. B&B not at one bit in the US, but definitely in Europe - which is ironic and hard to explain.
