Very true. I've seen tweets that he just has one facial expression. Michael isn't meant to be anything beyond anger these days, but even then, Gibson did a great job of showing so many different expressions in that great scene where he baited Drew into a witness stand meltdown.

I feel like with Rory, it's very much why I liked Allison Lanier as recast Summer on Y&R when she started. Often she would be in a scene and had a way of building a whole arc of emotions as she was in the same scene. She really was good at shifting within a scene on a dime and carried the audience with her whether she stayed subdued (but subtle) or dramatic (where the character would explode and be a force of nature). She sold me on her recasting. Shame the writing stopped writing to her strengths.

Michael has every right to his anger as he reminded Chase today. But I just feel Rory does so much more. I was surprised he got angry in the middle of the scene and then pulled back and then went in for the kill with his words. And after that first punch, how Rory played the shift on his face. It was just so great. So much going on in those seconds.

He reminds me more of Alan than most of the Michael actors, or most younger Qs have - he doesn't have Alan's rapier wit but he has the rest, if they allowed him to be as tough as Alan was early on (I don't need a repeat of how rough Alan was with Monica but while I liked Sasha I do think pairing Michael with a strong woman would be a step forward for him, as you have said).

The bold.

At this point, that's the only thing he's really missing because all the pieces are there for Michael to be a powerful lead on the show. Or at least in terms of Younger/Next Generation Lead.

Rory's performance is a very specific choice and I think it works for him. But he also showed real emotion, tears of pain and rage with Willow last summer and then real softness with Jason, Tracy, etc. in the fall.

Yes, those scenes about Monica's death were strong, even though he'd never even worked with Leslie.

I saw earlier today that it was about a year ago that the explosion/burning happened. I had no idea how much would change with Michael. It seems like much longer.

Rory Gibson has been incredible.

I can't picture another actor doing more with these scenes while giving so much to other performers. This -- not screaming or crying -- should be the award-winning stuff.

I'll be honest and say I find Rory's Michael a bit too cold at times. It works, but I wonder how he'd do with an actual romance. Michael as a character isn't really burdened with an endgame coupling so it would be interesting to see him try to work with a non day player actress.

GH didn't record for me today on Xfinity, and I am so pissed.

I checked Reddit, and seems as if it happened to a lot of us Comcast DVR users. I don't have Hulu, so I guess I have to wait for it to show up on the ABC site -- which isn't the date of airing.

Yep. Happened to me. Thank goodness, I have Hulu via Spotify.

The episode was done so well. The Michael/Chase fight - both verbal and physical was excellent.

I loved that they held the Drew/Willow stuff until later in the episode. It made it far more dramatic.

MW looked amazing. As soon as Trina waxed Kai's virtues, I said to myself - 'bye, Kai'

Oh, and, Dr. Gannon thank you for putting Stella in her place.

I thought he had warm moments with Sasha, but she was written out quickly in his run.

That is true. I, unsurprisingly, already forgot about Sasha-and I even kind of liked her lol.

I think there is a lot of softness and tenderness there with the right person, albeit still intense. He's shown some with Jacinda even if I don't care about her, and Sasha. But what I think he needs right now is another strong, equally intense female partner who can match him. Which is why I thought of a driven female surgeon or someone else. Serena Baldwin is always on the table too, but I wouldn't make her that kind of hard-driving character (though she would be a philanthropist and probably involved with her mother's business). He does have chemistry with Katelyn MacMullen, but that relationship should never be sweet and purely romantic again.

I'd still love to see him have hate sex with Nina, though I doubt that would work as a long-time pairing. I thought Rory and Cynthia Watros had a lot of chemistry together in their Aurora scenes.

They have that same great antagonistic chemistry that CM and Cynthia had when they were having hate sex, so I’d love to see it too. Willow really would never forgive Nina after that though.

Same. I hope faith he could pull it off.

I thought that, too. But who would lose it more...Willow or Carly? Heck, it could be a way to bring the rivalry between Carly and Nina to the forefront.

I'd be here for it at least once before Nina exits, maybe as a final fúck you to her ungrateful daughter.
