Overall, I think the character development and family interactions under the new writers is much better than RC at the end, but we are missing MUST SEE moments and good plot twists.

That's a good way of putting it.

Take the end of today, for example. I liked the cliffhanger, but it could have been a little better. A little more soapier lol

-- ANOTHER episode devoted to this insufferable Leo and Javi pairing?

-- Only on soaps with writers heralding the 1950s do we hear wedding ceremonies that include "If anyone objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace."

-- Including Spanish doesn't save this.

-- Al Calderon (Javi) is one of the worst criers on daytime.

-- Why is this ceremony 17x longer than the Paul and Andrew wedding ceremony?

-- Why is Stephanie downright flabbergasted that Alex bought her a gift? Who writes this crap?

-- Glad Peter Porte is back, but knowing that means more Leo ruins it.

-- 44 minute episode? Way too long for what we got.

I've never cared for Javi as a character.. He is poorly written.. He's Latino and from Texas. But gay Latinos from Texas don't talk/speak or act like Javi.

Days has never done a good job in writing Latino characters. They always stereotype Latinos.

I wanted to pick up another soap since Neighbours was cancelled and decided to try Days since the Bell soaps are just not an option in their current state. I stopped watching like a year into it's Peacock run but I've kept up on what's been going on.

After a full week I feel like I can stick with it although I can't say anything popped at me. I was hoping to come in here and see it was just a slow week but it sounds like the new regime isn't great. I'm still going to try to keep going in hopes things improve.

My biggest struggles were how sluggish the pacing was and none of the stories popped for me. Most of my enjoyment came from seeing certain characters I enjoy like Susan, EJ, Philip and I know it's unpopular here, but Leo. Disappointed to see Gwen again. That character has been dead to me since she killed Laura.

For those who have been watching, are there are storylines/couples/highlights I should keep my eye on?

At the moment, I’d say the biggest thing to keep an eye on would be Dimitri’s return, even though I’m cautiously optimistic about it. I’m hoping he’ll be used better this time than he was before.

As for couples, I’d say the ones to watch are Johnny/Chanel and (even though they’re currently not together) Xander/Sarah

Thank you! I do looooove Xander and Sarah. I did tune in for their most recent breakup and I thought those scenes were really powerful. Johnny/Chanel are cute. I forgot about them but definitely will keep my eye on them.

Hopefully Dimitri's return can bring some spark to Leo and Javi.

First off, I just have to say... God, Peter Porte is so handsome 😍😍😍🥰

From the very beginning, and despite my dislike of the storyline, he had me hooked. And not just for the obvious reason lol. You were really able to feel his heartbreak over the whole situation with Leo and also his anger towards Gwen. I just see it as more proof that he/Dimitri is one of the most wasted actors/characters that Days has ever had. He deserves so much better than to be trapped in a bubble with the two worst characters on the canvas right now. We saw this in 2023, and I worry that we'll see more of that now. Hopefully, I'm wrong though. There's still so much that they can do with his character. And so many other (better) characters that he can interact with, especially since he brought up his past as an ISA agent today #Dandrew

And I'm a little disappointed that it turns out that the letter that Leo got was a lie. I loved that scene, and now, for them to tell us that it wasn't real really sucks.

I still have absolutely no sympathy for Leo. None of this would have happened if he hadn't been a selfish POS, and part of me hopes that Javi and Dimitri both dump his ass. And that the Hernandez's beat the crap out of him. I did have sympathy for Javi though, and, despite my dislike of the character, a little for Gwen too.

As for Javi's final scene at the end when he was breaking down... y'all have been warned 😂😂

Btw, poor Julie and Jeremy lol New Years Eve and they're sitting home playing Scrabble. Feels familiar 😂😂

I do like the relationship that's developing between them though. I'm glad that he has somebody to talk to about how he's feeling but at the same time, I feel they're missing the mark with his character. Why haven't Stephanie or Steve or Alex confronted him by now about their suspicions? Why are he and Alex not beating the crap out of each other all over Salem? Days brought him back with such fanfare, but he's really fallen down the card in the last few months. He needs to be used a lot more, and a lot more effectively.

Tate and Holly were really sweet though. I'm glad that they were able to spend New Years Eve together but at the same time, they need a little conflict too lol but Tate did look cute in the beret that Holly got him 😂

Does anyone know how long Peter Porte's run is?

The cliffhanger on Friday was good but could have been so much better.

That is IF they actually cast a Latin actor to play the part (cough, cough Rafe).

I would’ve had Dimitri walk in just as Javi and Leo were pronounced husbands.

And right when everyone was clapping, they start walking down the aisle, etc., Leo looks up and sees Dimitri standing there.

Allowing for everyone in the crowd to do the dramatic head turn back towards Dimitri 😂😂😂

Like I said on Friday, it could’ve been soapier

Per January 5 closing credits, he is on contract. No idea if it's short-term contract or a year.

These head writers really need to be replaced. They can’t write a story that is interesting. I dislike Peter Porte. And that hair. lol He and that Mark Greene guy go to the same stylist? Boring bad writing all around. None of it makes sense. Julie playing scrabble? SSH deserves better. Days deserves better than this crap.

The guy playing Jeremy is the best casting the show had all of last year. He just feels very natural on the show and is handsome as hell to boot. I just hope he really isn't the one behind the Stephanie stuff. It'd be nice to have a Horton leading man again.
