Of course you're right. In real life, we usually need to prewash dishes. But the Cascade promotion says we don't need to, LOL

Word. Idk why people don't do this, including some of my family lol.

I couldn't stop laughing when Andre said his grandma taught him how to load dishes in the washer and then he literally turns around and plops a bowl on top of two pots. Like even most people who don't regularly use a dishwasher would tell you that is very wrong.

That was the funniest thing. It was actually quite real in that I know people who do that, with their family/housemates quite annoyed about it!

I'm the worst at loading the dishwasher 😂😂😂

Well... I load it perfectly. My husband is like you - he regularly messes it up and I have to re-arrange it before I start the program, which I HATE doing. My point is... the only way to fix your problem is - GET yourself a husband! If you haven't already. 😁 God... look at the things this show is making us talk about. If this is not successful product placement... I don't know what is.

My partner is TERRIBLE at loading the dishwasher or even pre washing. I’m constantly having to go behind him😂. I basically don’t want him to do the dishes anymore.

-- Ted acted a fool when he saw Eva with Izaiah. The overbearing father? Really? From this guy who pretty much ignores his other two kids?

IA.
Plus we had an almost identical scene later when Ted saw Leslie with Marcel.
This show is obsessed with fathers having a say in their daughters' innocuous love life.

-- All this fury from Elon about Izaiah being a problem and not caring about his mother does not work. Not only haven't we been given anything but "He was arrested when he was younger," but David Lami Friebe simply DOES NOT give bad boy in ANY way.

IA. Not only is Izaiah written as a beta male, the actor himself comes across as a bobble-headed softie. And I'm tired of hearing of how much of a rascal he was - yet he's so docile on screen.

It's fugly. And I still have no clue where it's supposed to be located.

Next week Randy and Hayley are meeting there. Weird.

Indeed. A good pre-wash is so essential. And of course Dani will mess that up, just like she does anything in her life. Hahahhahahahah.

I hate to burst your bubble but you actually don't need to pre-wash. Dishwashers and product are designed to hang on the dirt until they scrub it all away. By pre-washing the dishes, you're preventing the dishwasher from doing its job - hence it breaks down and gets damaged/ineffective over time. That's why you find "the stuff stuck on them just stays and hardens". It's a catch-22 sitch. I know because my brother repairs dishwashers for a living.

I laughed when I saw the HUGE container of Cascade on Dani's counter. Doesn't everyone keep theirs on display?

Yeah in the middle of food prep. Ugh.

I'm all for product placement, but does it have to be this silly? You find a thousand better examples on TikTok.

Not in 2025... Large family gatherings are not a thing and I think it's a healthier thing for the Dupree's since they seem a tad too attached at the hip.

And I never liked the patriarch giving a speech during the holidays.. it was always kind of cheesy when P & G soaps did that.

I'm sure the Dupree's will have their large family gathering for Christmas. We don't need to see it for Thanksgiving too. And yes, these speeches by the patriarch are... patriarchal.

Taping so far ahead, and with the unexpected pre-emptions , how did they time these episodes to fit in with the Thanksgiving holiday?

MVJ said she had no idea that the show was going to be pre-empted so did the adjust things after that so things were in sync?

I was wondering the same thing.

Also, I remember that soap actors are paid per week (ie: 3 appearances per week granted). How do you measure that when the broadcast is so scattered?

I also wanted to say: this show's Josh Griffithy obsession with having off-screen characters drive story continues. I feel I know more about Luke and ma' Hawthorne than I know about characters I've seen since February. From a storytelling point of view I find it very, very amateurish.

Agree, it's a weird set. It looks like a hospital cafeteria.

I thought it was just something cobbled together as a one off but we are seeing it regularly.

I freeze framed the directory on the wall and it seems like it's supposed to be some sort of food plaza? The signage had cutesy labels like 'caffeine fix' 'dunn cooking' 'a place to wine' plus 'roof bar access' and parking.

Still doesn't make sense.

I still don't see how Luke or mother Hawthorne are driving active story.

MVJ said back on June 27 (Link) that she didn't know the show would be airing repeats during the first week of July.

@Errol said on June 27 in the discussion thread about the July repeats (Link) that upcoming holidays later in 2025 are already written in but he wasn't sure if the unexpected repeats would throw the timing off or not
". . . storyline-wise, the show will acknowledge all the major holidays coming up like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. I would imagine the scheduling change could change when those episodes air, though."

My speculation is that they rearranged some already-written episodes so that the holiday episodes would air at the right time.

As we know, soap actor guarantees are x number of appearances per week; but that's averaged over a designated span of time (maybe one year). That allows for a character to appear heavily in one arc and appear less frequently at another time of the year, as long it averages out correctly.

But I don't know the answer to your question about how BTG's periodic repeats affect this. Maybe it there's a stipulation that the actor appears an average of x number of times per week over 2025's 200-episode season? I don't know. It would be interesting to know how the first year of actor contracts were designed for BTG.

27 sets was the number bandied around , which seemed a lot but on a day to day basis for the format it's not quite enough.

Although on a quick count I couldn't get to that number.

27 sets (if the number is real) would probably be okay if only there was a communal, work-related space. I'm not saying this show needs a corporation - in fact I hate it when writers improvise corp. stories without any research, plus a corporation wouldn't fit the fabric of the show - but part of the problem is that all we see these characters do is hang out at cafeterias or restaurants. It makes them feel aimless.

And then you have random sets built for a couple of appearances, like Andre's apartment 🤔

I too paused and read the directory, only to feel more confused.

And have you noticed how they have the extras on that set do the weirdest things? I swear I saw a couple of them fighting and another one arguing and gesturing while on the phone lol

While 'driving story' is certainly a provocative hyperbole on my part, there's no denying the writers have off-screen characters' moods, actions and choices heavily influence the on-screen characters and story. To me that gives fan-fiction, amateurish, Josh Griffith vibes.

Like any soap opera character with backstory since at least the Golden Age of Television. Izaiah's family are his backstory. They are not active in story in the present moment.
