Yeah, I was mentioning that a few weeks ago...the one sticking point for me as of late has been...how these writers write romance. Or to be specific...NOT write. Cuz...where ARE the couple? Once in a blue moon, they get it right...but again...ONCE IN A BLUE MOON.

I do wonder if the constant fanbase issues for all the OLTL couples during Frank’s time there has made him allergic to them now that no one is essentially over him pushing for them. There was blood in the water many times over Blair/Todd/Tea,

Tue thing that cracks me up at his GH is they spend years, YEARS, pushing couples only to unravel them and then never make it a thing again. How many new fans realize what happened between Willow/Chase/Michael? That Anna and Valentin were forced on us for years as a huge love? Liz certainly doesn’t ever ask Chase how his brother is. If I started watching in the last 6 months, would I know Nina was married to Sonny? That Ava and Sonny have a kid together? TJ who?

Until they invest in actual all-new contract characters for Michael, they're not taking him seriously as a major lead. A second dayplayer hooker is embarrassing. All because Frank doesn't want to fire more people he likes or rock the boat.

I've heard a few people say this here and on Twitter, and I respect it, but the show is just so uninterested and incapable of writing romantic pairings, I don't think they would care even if he had a partner who was on contract.

I think they resent when their pets don't get a good response for their love stories and don't make much effort otherwise. So we have Joss and her sex toy, not much else.

Would anyone even know Sonny murdered a federal agent last year and when it turned out it wasn’t Alexis, the police just said fuc.k it.

It’s the only thing she has done since this return that I found remotely entertaining. Drew can’t out scum her! I still think Rory deserves a stronger actress for a pairing though.

He lacks complexity, and I think a good partner in crime to discuss his plots with like Celeste with Stefano on DAYS would help. But I also see comments like this and wonder what modern soap fans would make of other longstanding villainous characters. Roger Thorpe raped Holly and Rita, and when he came back to the show was always an antagonist until GL fired Zaslow. On GH Scotty came back during Luke & Laura’s wedding and was a scheming bastard until about a year before he left in the early 90’s. Tracy was fine letting her father die of a heart attack over his will, and in her second run pulled many petty schemes off, and also ran down Jenny (nobody seems too upset about that one though)! Drew hasn’t even come close yet!

David on AMC was a villain that had some what of a heart

That’s not how murdering a federal agent works though. They basically portrayed it as not only do the local police not care, the federal government doesn’t give a shi.t either.

I am the last person to care about Wagger and thought it was all a mess to recast in the way the show did.  I am also someone who often defends Mr. Corinthos.  The fact the show just let it all go without any resolution is crazy.  I don't even need a good resolution, but the, 🤷‍♀️ does anyone care of it all is hilarious.  Sonny murdered a man for no reason and the show just quietly moved away from it in hopes we would forget.

I am not terribly mad about it.  It's just exceptionally lazy.

That was when I realized the writers don’t think their audience notices or cares about stories actually having a resolution.

Did he?  Sonny had a reason to hate Jagger, but to shoot him in the chest?  No, he didn't have a reason for that.

And in this case they didn't seem to be wrong...

I actually see on other parts of the web people bring it up so it actually hasn’t been forgotten.

People bring up stories from decades ago, but I don't know how much the average viewer ended up caring. Sonny is just such a husk always outside of right or wrong - maybe if he'd gunned down Michael, but hell, who knows even there.

I dunno. I don’t think the popularity of the Character is actually that strong these days. As I asked before, is there even any actual proof of ratings going down when he’s not in the forefront getting away with murder?

Have Jason and Sonny like taken oaths not to kill Drew because Sonny already killed one of his brothers? It’s actually amazing how much they’ve let him get away with in regards to S
Michael, Danny, and Rocco. They’ve killed for far less.
