Yes, I think Eden was dating the actor, then wasn't, and he got fired.  Not saying that's connected, but it could be lol.

I still find Gh watchable and it's fun to complain about.  I don't think they are working far outside the box in writing.  Who's going to pregnant this month?  Portia? Sure, that's 9 months of Curtis family drama.

lol. I wasn't sure if they had been dating that they ever broke up so good to hear.

I feel that. lol. BTG had one week that was just...sloppy. And I complained all week. Yeah, that would one of those annoying writing tics that GH has. As has been well documented here, a baby/WTD storyline is one of the main stories this show runs to that well waaaay too much to generate drama. Even though the parties involved are more interesting IMHO than most stories, that trope on this show needs a looooooooooong timeout.

Lol.  I honestly have no idea if Hofer and McCoy dated.  He was in her social media a lot and hasn't been for awhile, so I assume they broke up.  For all I know, they could be married.

It would be nice to see GH do something different, but I think it's clear baby stories are the easiest way out to get network approval.

Well, you know that Frank is going to Frank. Just look at the flavors of the month running around as I binge and type. ;)

I wish it would be Gio and Emma's month again 😂

I think the numbers tanking during PM's brief tenure (which I do not put all on him - it was clearly a BTS clusterfúck) and then rising with a few moves after he was fired/quit have all but made FV bulletproof at this point.

That's too bad.

Even if you put his crap aside, GH could definitely use a change after so many years of the same style. It's like Frons/Phelps/Guza all over again.

When Luke and Laura came back in 1993, they had scenes in which Luke talked about Robert and Robin discussed how her father had always said they would return some day.

You know, one of the little things that still breaks me up when I see it again is when Stone died, and Robin tells Luke over the phone. And he calls her Love, and she tells him that her dad used to call her that, it’s a sad but sweet moment, they both play it well. It’s such a small thing, but these types of conversations help soaps have a sense of humanity. But that’s not what they are after with Britt at the moment.

I'm a realist. Frank saved the show 13 years ago and has kept it on course and underbudget, surviving many, many rising or falling tides at the network where they probably considered canning it again more than once. Most of the cast love him.

If this was a more stable and committed period in soap opera history, if we knew they had a firmer commitment in place, I'd say absolutely junk him - just because he's been there forever, there are systemic issues, it's time for a creative refresh, etc. That's happened many times in daytime. But that was 20, 30, 40 etc. years ago. Things were very different. I'm not convinced ABC or Disney have any real interest in investing a lot of time or energy in finding a new EP at this point for their lone soap opera, and if they lost him atm I think they might just wipe their hands and can it.

IF things come together and we begin to see some kind of soap revival on ABC (and I no longer think that is an total pipe dream judging by a few recent signs) then maybe that paradigm could change again. Then I'd be for it, though I think Frank has worked very hard and done right by the show in at least as many ways as I think he's messed it up or fumbled badly. But right now I can't see it happening unless something dramatic changes. You don't get to re-hire your pet writers a few months after a major firing unless nobody's touching you. At least that's how I see it.

I actually really love that scene and can remember it verbatim.  It's such a great set of scenes from Luke knowing what Robin's about to tell him, to calling her love, and then talking to Lucky about death.  So Good!

Had N’Neka Garland, who everybody loved and had worked her way up had not passed away in 2023, I do think there would have been a more realistic ability to pass the torch from Frank. Everything I have read about her makes it seem like she was kind of a linchpin under Frank. Right now I don’t see that person currently at the show, and I just don’t think ABC is looking elsewhere. Valentini also doesn’t seem to be ready to let go on his own either.

Speaking of 2023, I skimmed a couple of the episodes up on Hulu because Spencer was in the thumbnail. Dex, Drew with Carly and her being sanctimonious about the crime she actually did commit, Sam/KM bored to be employed, Willow’s unending pregnancy and cancer, Duell’s mopey Michael. We have had a significant upgrade. The only things I want back are Spencer and Cameron.

The Alexis/Ava/Kristina story is such a waste. NLG and Maura have the chops and in-character histories to play both sinister and humor, and Mansi with her hysterical version of Kristina could have been fun to watch unraveling while the adults try to keep the wheels from falling off. Plus Hearst is a game actor for just about anything! It also would help spread out the twists and cliffhangers- Ric should have been near escape at least once a week while they get better at restraining him. They are ripping off 9 to 5 anyway, give me the garage mechanism and dog collar!

You watch stuff from that era, and see the delicate work Geary is doing as Luke, his mix of bravado, street smarts, and vulnerability that he really does make work, and you remember why the guy was acclaimed and the character beloved. It’s a beautiful set of scenes.

Ah! Same for me. And it people online seem to feel so and observing some of their scenes did make me wonder. I never saw it confirmed, but I wondered.

Same. And we almost got that, but alas. And yep, very clear. But again...it's a well they really can't keep going to because it's now just overkill.

I thought it was so subtle the way Geary/Jackson played that scene after Stone's death.  Lucky was optimistic about Heaven and what happens when you died, but Luke was resigned and didn't believe it yet wanted to give Lucky hope.  It was solid work.  It's a shame TG didn't enjoy that type of acting.  I could watch it right now and shed a tear.

Don't make me post the episode again this Thanksgiving like a year or two ago, because I'll do it!

LOL! FACTS.

True...but the writing was better. But I am bias since I like humor in small doses and definitely not of the 'wacka wacka' style of writing.

That would have been nice to see. Because if the day truly comes where ABC decides to commit again to soaps and attempt as has been mentioned a creative refresh and try with someone else, I also do not see Frank wanting to let go on his own.

Hehe. Great minds. I clicked on that episode as well for the same reason. :) It was great to see Spencer and Cameron again. I miss seeing Liz's kids. Like I said yesterday, I have my issues with these new/old writers, but they are definitely in a better place show-wise than a year ago, writing tics and all.

This isn't the Luke/Lucky scene but I figured it was more bang because it includes Mac, Felicia and Brenda's reactions.   Ignore Lily.  Luke's at the end. When Robin said something just shifted and I knew he was gone it was so real.

This is also why I defend Maurice to this day lol.

So I don't get yelled at because this is the current thread.

Emma is currently awesome and I love her.

ETA this channel has most of the Stone illness scenes and the next day when Lucy/Kevin and Lucky/Luke talk.  It's obviously Sonny/Brenda skewed, but it seems to be the most comprehensive clips I can find.
