The Friday, April 3 episode of “Beyond the Gates” will not only see the folks in Fairmont Crest celebrating the upcoming Easter holiday, but it will also feature Broadway’s original Dreamgirl, Jennifer Holliday, making an appearance as herself and singing for a special friend.
In the episode, Anita (Tamara Tunie) introduces Holliday at the Fairmont Crest Country Club, where the Dupree family is gathered for Easter brunch, as the legendary singer prepares to belt out a familiar tune for those in attendance. Additionally, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) invites her latest squeeze, Kial (Greg Vaughan), to join the family for their meal.
Last year, Holliday appeared as a guest on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” to talk about her iconic role as Effie White in “Dreamgirls,” her unforgettable voice, and the emotional moment when Hudson gave her a shoutout during her 2007 Oscar acceptance speech — Hudson netted the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal as Effie in the 2006 film adaptation.
“I love that we have music in the show, because music is my first love, and I’m excited about this, this Easter show,” said executive producer Sheila Ducksworth in an interview with TV Insider, published earlier this year, previewing what’s to come on the show in 2026.
Since the show’s debut in February 2025, it has featured other musical acts, including Kenny Lattimore and Keke Wyatt.
