I definitely don't think she's going to stay that way. I DO however think Tomas is all wrong for her.

Asexuality isn't necessarily a trap because it would just mean the character be taken in a different direction that didn't involve relationships. And asexual doesn't mean aromantic so a compelling story could be how an asexual and sexual person attracted to each other had to work out how to be together.

Over the course of two episodes, we went from no one at all knowing that Samantha and Tyrell are June's kids to Samantha and Tyrell having to weight the pros and cons of meeting her? In LESS than two episodes, really!

these people need to pop an edible and relax. i get dizzy just thinking about how much plot they’ve burned through in six months.

I completely agree, but I am so uninterested in this June storyline that I am glad it is progressing so quickly.

I would love to see that honestly.

There probably is some intent to tie the stories together. June is not likely to seek custody, but I can see Regina making waves. That said, the children are old enough to decide where they want to be so a custody case would be a hard sell.

And in 1-2 years, they'll be legal adults, and all of it would have been for nothing. For that reason alone, I hope this has nothing to do with a custody battle. I have to believe that they can't botch this up even more.

Representation aside, it would be a tremendous error to make Kat asexual when she's one of the most/few? charismatic young leads on the show. So I highly doubt that is happening.

I agree. I have no problem with asexuality portrayed in a soap, but from the very beginning, Kat has had a fire in her that, IMO, still hasn't realized its potential. I think she's already suffered from having to play the self-righteous role in the Leslie/Eva story (not that she's wrong to look down her nose at them, even though I hate it).

I wish the Duprees had a black sheep. Not necessarily an estranged relative but someone on the inside who can look at everything from an outside perspective and doesn't automatically share the loyalty to a fault mindset the rest of the family has. Someone who can say, "Honestly, the Articulettes' music has never done anything for me," but still have a seat at the country club table.

I kinda actually love this idea. Someone who is part of the family and the Duprees have them around, but they never fell in line with the Dupree way of thinking or seeing things. They're their own person, but the family look down on them a bit.

PLEASE call me negative, a complainer, "can't please some people." I don't care - the way this "story" played out over two episodes is utter shyte.

Agreed. Everything happened wayyyy too fast.

Like I've always said about Days, if I wanted prime time pacing I'd watch a prime time show

The imagined Dupree black sheep would definitely work in the form of the proposed Dupree son that I think the family needs. The son was banished from the family years ago by Anita and Vernon because of his wicked and disloyal ways (at least as Anita and Vernon perceives it).

Agree about burning through story.

They are not exploring the beats and building up interest. Jacob/Naomi find out about the kids and the next episode they've told Martin/Smitty, the kids find out and want to meet their mother.

They should have got much more out of that. Naomi and Jacob thinking about the repercussions of telling Martin/Smitty. Then lead to that. Martin/Smitty getting the news and dealing with that. Then the kids finding out and them digesting that reveal. Maybe Samantha wants to meet June but Tyrell is against it and they have to work through that.

A lot of beats to be played over several days/weeks. Now some might find that boring but if they are well written scenes, the audience invests in the characters and there is emotional impact.Otherwise it's just plot point to plot point.

The Salsa scenes were cringy. The dance teacher was blechh.

I don't think Kat is specifically asexual.  I think she simply currently enjoys and wants romance;  but her two sexual encounters have felt completely blah/meh/nothingness to her.  That is how she experienced it, but it doesn't need to have a label.
I do think it represents what some humans experience -- that not all sex is fireworks explosions.  Sometimes people disconnect from themselves and from their partners during sex and just feel nothingness.  It can happen.  Doesn't mean the person will always be that way.

I think its great because you definitely dont see this in daytime. Sometimes you can like somebody so much and the chemistry is fire, but that doesn't translate to good sex. It happens and I applaud the show for going that route.

New Leslie theory! Leslie isnt related to Barbera but her late husband Alan was! As his spouse, she inherits his money which honestly makes more sense in explaining why she is only now finding out about this trust and not actually knowing Barbera

Interesting. While watching the episodes, I was drawn into the emotions and forgot time.  Like watching a movie, just captivated with what everyone's feeling.  Not even primetime pacing but movie pacing of weeks of drama within a 2-hour movie.

If Kat and Tomas had mentioned that weeks had gone by since he asked her out dancing, or if Chelsea and Madison had a line saying the past month has been wonderful... then we'd know time was passing.  But we had Anita and Vernon referring to the reunion concert as being very recent.  And Hayley and Bill went to the hospital the day after the faked miscarriage -- because Hayley was intentionally setting it up so that the corrupt doctor could "verify" that she just miscarried.  It was set up that no time was passing for anyone, and it's all happening quickly for all the characters.

They didn't even try to show time passing -- Clearly less than a day had passed for Naomi and Jacob since they were *in the same wardrobe*.

I did love all the actors' emotional investment (except for Alex Alegria who has very little).   Most of the actors carried their scenes so well that I was caught up in it, and I didn't notice the ridiculous pacing. But then even I thought wait, Naomi pushing this through the same day?

WTF were Ron and Cecil's name's changed? They werent babies. They had to be at least 7, 8 years old and they remember their lives before Martin.

I swear MVJ is obsessed with giving aliases to her characters.

The Bill/Hayley story feels like it's being made up as it goes along. She has a 'miscarriage', is home the same day and back at the hospital the next day all gung ho for the next baby.

Huh? And previously Bill's stroke really lead to nothing. Just incidents to bring Dani back into their lives.

The only explanation for these stories is to prop Dani.

BTW let me quote a tweet I’ve seen: who needs enemies when you have family like Naomi and Jacob? 🤢
