-- I can't think of a single other 55-year old who has the body that Cameron Mathison has. Dayum.

-- Maura West is THE chemistry magnet of daytime. While I'm in this "I can't think" moment, I can't think of a single romantic pairing she couldn't make work. With Ric? It's there. With Cody? Yeah, I see it.

-- Steve Burton has done some good work in the past year, but seeing him stand by Sonny as some kind of Enforcer is gagworthy material.

He looks really good.

On a different note, I was laughing at Carly threatening to ban Willow from the Metro Court pool like that's the worst thing that could possibly happen to someone.

If I were Willow I would have told Carly-"Fine!  I'll just join a nice country club with an adult size pool and a real bar!!"  And secretly spy on Wiley and Amelia while moving Daisy around the Q mansion lol.

Wasn't that ridiculous. Like that would be the end all be all.

I was a more casual viewer in that era, but I was so confused why Mike was even around to dig up the body.  I thought he left Sonny when he was a kid.  I am sure the show vaguely explained it, but it seemed to make no timeline sense outside of being dumb.

I think Mike had always been portrayed as coming and going.  He turned up from time to time, only to take off again.

I remember one story about Mike showing up, stealing Sonny's bike and selling it for gambling money, and then leaving town.

Yes, I believe you are correct that he was coming and going to a point.  From the 90's retelling though Mike didn't come back after Adella married Deke.  That's why he didn't know Sonny or Adella were being abused and Sonny hadn't seen Mike since he was a child when Ron Hale's version appeared.

Perhaps he could have been in and out of town while Sonny was older, so it's not a huge deal and the story had more flaws than that minor point so whatever.

Who knows?  I think I heard rumors Ava was eventually going to be killed off.  No idea if that would have been the endgame if all the Sonny stuff played out.

I can't remember who was with me on thinking Mulcahey had the long game with Ava and wouldn't kill her - titan? kalbir? Anyway, that was my thinking at the time, that he was repositioning her as a strong villainess, that she and Valentin would link up (as each had discovered what the other was doing to Sonny) and then Valentin would ultimately take the fall for the whole thing.

But I can see her being offed as being very possible at the time. The factor that makes me think that may have been the case is that the instant PM was out, someone (most likely Van Etten) set to immediately repairing Ava's sympathetic, fan favorite relationship with Nina and Trina, which had been lain waste.* While either that same someone or IMO someone else (most likely Korte) had Sonny kick her out and most of the town put Ava back on her heels again, broke and desperate once more. Not unlike how the same creative team treated Nina when she took Sonny from Carly.

(* - personally I never bought the Nina/Ava friendship given their history and didn't care, but they do have lovely chemistry as actors so I don't mind it and hoo boy were the fans pissed)

I'll eventually stop returning to this analogy (not any time soon), but the Cody thing reminds me of Tonja Walker playing with various boytoys on OLTL. It's the same spirit, while Ric serves another aspect of the character. If Cody doublecrossed Kristina because Ava has him down bad I wouldn't blink.

You know, I honestly don't even remember where I heard the Ava being killed off rumor.  I just remember hearing it around the time Sonny kicked her out and all the Kristina then Natalia nonsense happened. This is probably pure fanfiction so don't take my word.  I thought both Maura and KeMo were on the chopping block and Maura had much more favor with Frank and we know how it ended up lol.

Nina and Ava's backstories are so wild I just ignore it all and enjoy the two together.  The actors do present a believable friendship.

I think part of it was just the clear trajectory onscreen. It made sense for people to think Ava was on the block given where she was going (very dark again). I just suspected she would weasel out and Valentin would get it, because PM seemed into her.

And yeah, I pretty much let it go and ignore it with Nina and Ava at this point. They're fun together. But I also didn't care when Mulcahey burnt it because I have a long memory.

It would be nice if Willow were  more of a grey, shady character. I don't think the actress could pull it off though, and it looks like the writers agree, as they're not really giving her a chance to go there. All they're doing is having her go crazy, not mean or evil.

It took a recast to give the character of Michael a hint of a dark side. It's probably going to take a recast of Willow to give her a dark side too.

I think KMM absolutely can do that kind of character. She showed that spite for Nina for several years. There's no need to ever recast this role - it's not that integral.
