I know we're in July now, but I just wanted to say that I completely agree with you. I thought I missed something - like 80s prom purses were trending on TikTok and you were disappointed that BTG wasn't featuring them. Damn, I need sleep. And, yes, that bag is embarrassingly dated. Jeresa is usually on top of trends, too.

I'm not being completely serious. I was just shocked when I saw the bag. It felt very dated and out of character for two young stylish entrepreneurs. I work with teen girls and I couldn't imagine them thinking that bag was it. Trends come and go and they come back around, but that just doesn't feel now nor does it feel like a bag I would want to design a whole company around.

I keep calling it an 80s prom clutch or purse, because it just feels old and not in a classic way and deifnitely not an innovative way. Like the chain strap with the sequins and the bow didn't feel fresh. If they changed the strap or even the shape, but I was shocked to see it when the fashion show came around.

Maybe I was just expecting something less formal and more atheleisure and they came out in dresses and that underwhelming bag.

But I mean here's a 1987 prom catalog with a sequin bag and metallic strap.

Also, I can't shake the feeling that it was a mistake to make him Anita & Vernon's grandson.  I think the story would be served better if he were their youngest child, the "pampered baby" with a pair of older sisters.  I saw that opportunity as a "miss" on Day 1, and I still see it that way.

I definitely agree with you on that. And age wise it would have made more sense for him to have perhaps been a later in life pregnancy for Anita; the “boy” she always wanted to give her husband to carry on the Dupree name; there could have been some inbuilt resentment from Dani and Nicole AND it would have given scope for Ted and Nicole to have another son who’s more age appropriate to be the child of those actors

Well I guess I should mostly finish off before the official episode move to the July thread. And this episode...like Wednesday...was an actual Thursday episode. lol. I didn't mind it at all though, and little plots moved a bit, too.

Something that I had noticed has been we haven't had any cute Dupree family scenes in a while. Since...karaoke night? So I loved the beautiful surprise of Anita popping into town. Not only do we get to see a family moment again, but I loved seeing TT. I also loved how the writers used Anita's brief visit as a kind of recap episode. And I would ughed about it, but the technique they used to do so was clever to me. Anita got to do a one on one with everyone, so you got to get characters' POV on top of plot recap in case anyone missed it.

Now I know I was tagged at one point, but I haven't gone back to reply yet so I hope this will do...especially given this week they are reshowing the premiere week...yes, I agree about Dani/Nicole. In Week 1, there were hints of friction between Dani and Nicole, but the show had not at all followed up on it yet. But that's fine. I loved watching the Dani/Nicole dynamic form slowly, but surely. No matter what has been thrown at them...or when one of them is in the wrong...the Dani/Nicole dynamic looked ready to take on the world in spite of it. So watching the very friction from Week 1 finally show up in current story has been nice to watch. But I've enjoyed all of the fallout from Dani telling Nicole about Andre. Not to mention the shade.

And OMG at the Dani/Andre plot unfolding. I was taken aback that Dani out right told Anita about her and Andre. And I was surprised at her allowing it. And good to see Anita going to bat for her with Nicole even if she disagrees in some part. And Anita ain't wrong...better Andre than Bill. And of course, they are consenting adults so none of Nicole's business anyway. Meanwhile, Andre, Andre, Andre. I was shaking my head at him. I knew given how things went down with Derek and Ashley and Ashley's dream, that she was going to start sniffing around him. And...I really don't like it. And his reaction...after all this fight to get Dani to be open...is not sitting well with me.

Yes, Nicole's anger is clearly misplaced. But I hope that this means per her talk with Anita, that going forward, she's about to place it where it should be...on Ted, Eva, and ESPECIALLY Silk Press Sheila. I also hope that rumor is true cuz my body is ready.

Kat vs Eva is the gift that keeps giving. And I like that the show has started to circle back around to that with Ted trying to mend fences between them. I know that's not happening, but I'm happy to see the coda scene of them having a very brief moment of respect for each other.

Martin's Secret was total C plot. And that I don't mind. And good to see Jacob getting Smitty to go directly to Martin to figure out what's going on. It was also nice to see some affection between them. They have come such a long way.

And the C plot of Chelesa having a relationship has been nice. She's come a long way from her hair toss. hehe. And I felt the Anita talk was the calm before the storm.

Good little episode.
