Tyler Perry's Divorced Sistas

Following in the success of “Tyler Perry‘s Sistas” on BET, the network’s streaming service counterpart, BET+, announced on Monday that it has picked up the spinoff series “Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas,” the first original series to launch under Tyler Perry‘s recently expanded, multi-year content partnership with BET Media Group – one of the largest deals in the industry with a Black creator.

The first episode premieres Monday, June 9 on BET, the same day of the 2025 BET Awards, before becoming available to stream on BET+ starting Tuesday, June 10, the new series follows five close friends—Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette—as they navigate life, love, and the challenges that come with divorce, marriage, and dating. As they lean on each other through heartbreak and healing, their biggest test comes from within their circle, challenging their loyalty, character, and true bond of sisterhood.

The ensemble cast includes LeToya Luckett (“Greenleaf”), Khadeen Indréa (“Ellis Ever After”), Porscha Coleman (“Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!”), Briana Price (“Step Up: High Water”), Jennifer Sears (“Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Funeral”), RonReaco Lee (“Survivor’s Remorse”), DeVon Franklin (Kingdom Business), Donovan Christie Jr. “(Tyler Perry’s The Oval”) and Robert Christopher Riley (“Beyond the Gates,” “Dynasty”).

“Tyler Perry has been the most incredible partner to BET – delivering record breaking hits and top series year after year,” said Scott Mills, President and CEO of BET Media Group. “And now, we eagerly await the arrival of Tyler’s newest series – ‘Divorced Sistas’ – a brilliant expansion of the Sistas universe that for years has been the most watched series among Black viewers across television. We’re thrilled to launch this new series with Tyler and further expand the slate of compelling and authentic stories we deliver to our audiences.”

“‘Divorced Sistas’ is a story of resilience and the power of female friendship,” said Perry. “It is my hope that audiences will fall in love with these dynamic characters, and that they will be able to explore their own personal truths about healing and love in the process. I’m excited to launch this brand new show, and proud to do it on BET’s biggest night of the year and in their 45th year of programming!”

In a promo released by BET+ announcing the show’s cast, the streamer uses the song “No More Drama” by Mary J. Blige, which features the iconic Nadia’s Theme (“The Young and the Restless“).

Produced by Tyler Perry Studios, “Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas” was created, written and directed by Tyler Perry, who also serves as an executive producer.

It is. Tyler could be a real power player, that studio should be real competition for the other studios. Just imagine Tyler Perry presents 'MOONLIGHT', 'GET OUT', 'SINNERS'? He is taking the easy way out.

I think he's just found a formula that makes a ton of money....very fast and cheaply made programs with a dose of eye candy that get enough viewership to turn a nice profit. Didn't I read that they film a whole season of The Oval in two weeks and mostly in one take? If you watch, you can tell. Very long scenes (less camera/lighting set-ups) that repeat the same dialogue over and over. Actors in the same costumes for multiple episodes (less money needed for wardrobe!). Questionable acting ability from some. Etc. etc.

He had a movie on Netflix that was supposedly shot in 5 days! You can't crank out a Sinners that way.

I agree that most of his shows/movies all feel the same. I get the sense that the reason he doesn't branch out into big budget is that he likes to control every single aspect, too, including the writing. While some of his stuff can be entertaining at times, I don't think he has a "SINNERS" or "GET OUT" in him. That's just not his bag.

Oh, I definitely agree. He does seem like he enjoys controlling everything. I don't believe he has a 'SINNERS' in him either, but his name is a brand and carries weight with most of the black audience. He does not need to write or direct anymore, just operate as a production house that puts his name and money behind greater creators. There is opportunity for this studio to grow into an MGM/Warner Bros.

    • Yes.  Are any of them famous?  I suppose Drew and Laura would warrant an interview because they are politicians but he's hosting.  Lucy and some of the acts also make sense to interview, but it's not like a world-famous supermodel is there.  She wasn't invited lol.  Why would anyone care about Cody and Molly?  I also wonder where this airs.  Years ago, when Britt and Liesel? Brad? were watching it on tv it looked like a Public Access channel like those local stations everyone gets. Going back to the MS Nina days she has hosted on and off.  I don't get it, but it's always been a thing.  Drew hosting perplexes me.  I think it loosely has something to do with Aurora, but he's not involved in that anymore, right? I think the whole red carpet stuff looks cheap and ugly.  I liked when they just showed a montage of the couples and people arriving during the first scenes of the Nurse's Ball. Something like this:

I apologize for the absolutely awful quality, but Alan singing and people coming in looks much better.
    • I'm really glad that Michael saw that ridiculous kiss.
    • Thanks for the link and the articles @slick jones
    • Someone on a private jet watching the Nurses Ball red carpet
    • The two main couples were front and center today and I couldn’t be happier. I was actually a little surprised that Xander figured out that Sarah knew about Philip’s fraud. The way the Philip/Xander scene was written, I thought the secret was going to be dragged out for a little longer. Which I actually wouldn’t have minded but I really enjoyed Sarah and Xander’s scenes today. They were acted well and written well. You got a real understanding of why Xander and Sarah did the things that they did. And now that Xander’s moving out, I can’t wait to see what happens next for them.  And I guess now we know why Abe and Paulina got a new apartment. I’m glad that Johnny and Chanel have a place of their own now. I think it’s just needs a paint job though lol Johnny and Chanel were sweet today too but I hope that this isn’t the end of the drama for them. The drama of Chanel’s suspicions about Johnny could play out for so long and o hope that it does. Johnny did look hot too but he could’ve looked hot for a little longer

The fundraiser at the Small Bar seemed a little random though but I like how everyone, and their storylines became involved in it. And I’m not really sure about Cat being so goofy all of a sudden.  And, Maggie was used very well today too. First, with Philip and then to comfort Sarah.
    • @Paul Raven, agreed. I never understood why Derek was made a firefighter unless this show has some big fire sweeps coming up. I feel that's an uneventful job for a character to have on soaps with its limited budget. I do think that if he were a cop alongside Jacob, that would've probably endeared us to him more b/c his existence wouldn't be only Ashley. Speaking of Jacob, did they just drop the shady partner story? They really need to speed up Joey's story.  MVJ is strong with the Duprees, but (and I am saying this out of love) she must tighten up on the side character stories if she wants them to be just as viable. Otherwise, I see this show falling to the same trap as B&B and Santa Barbara, where side characters rarely thrive.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  I do think it makes sense if Slesar was writing this last year of the show. Some of the choices, like the music box/clock, I could see being his. Carrie and Avis also seem not far off from his heroines.
    • Tues ep opens with Princess Kit Kat  dumping exposition dialogue to Jacob. I really can't take her seriously in those outfits. Like she literally puts on that get up to wander around all day? What exactly does she do? OMG Derek-is he a cyborg? Jan comes by all chatty and natural and he literally stands there. I'm sorry, but is the actor watching himself? There's no body movement whatsever. He just recites lines. And Ted was replaced? And why didn't they just make Derek a cop? He could naturally be in scenes with Jacob, instead of those visits to the set.  Dedicated wonder nurse Ashley upsets the hospital schedule b/c of her private life. Honey, maybe work would be a distraction?

    • Every time they do a Nurses Ball red carpet it breaks the (already precarious) internal logic of the show. I get that some of these people are local public figures but, like, is Carly famous? What are all these media outlets covering this event? Are we supposed to believe even Port Charles’s local affiliates are airing *live* coverage of this event? Who is watching this? Why are Nina and Drew being interviewed even as they’re hosting? And so forth.
