I'd checked out of Y&R for a couple of years because it was boring as... I returned in August because the Sharon story sounded intriguing. I know some hated it, but let's face at least something was happening! It was a solid use of vets and on-screen history.

I honestly don't get the Dumas storyline at all or the premature end to the Sharon/Phyllis kidnapping. The latter story actually could've gone on for months. Alan playing cat-and-mouse.

It's like they also did a 180 on Billy/Phyllis - the Valentine's Day dream, Billy *saving* Phyllis and a month later he kicks to the curb! What??? That's completely illogical based on their history.

Please let Mariah's secret be a good one. At least, Daniel/Tessa/Mariah have a non-business related storyline!

Which has also slowed down from 100 pages a day, but I digress.

Yeah. When even I am getting annoyed with it (and still need to catch up on DAYS new team...two weeks behind now grrr) enough to take a break...and B&B holds my interest more for a show where nothing is going on...it's a BAD sign.

Seriously thinking about that break until

Then we go from there. I just can't believe JG just went and lost all the momentum that was built up over the last month. And during May Sweeps, too? No, ma'am.

I would wager that was because it was a new character for the likes of Devon, Lily and Nate to interact with.

Watching the likes of Billy fall in love again-Phyllis, Chelsea,Lily and now Sally is repetitive, especially when he is no prize.

Josh doesn't really do long term couples. So every year or so they swap partners. It diminishes them as characters as they don't seem to grow or learn from the past.

We know those characters so well and they've been through just about everything, so the only solution is to involve them with new characters and have them react to the newbies drama.

They tried with Ashland and the Rosales but Josh dumped the latter and wrote so badly for Ashland who could have been a long term antagonist.

All we got was another short lived marriage for Victoria and another accidental killing.

And Josh thinks having them sit in restaraunts for the whole episode talking business, mergers, takeovers and job switching is interestring. It's not.

I feel sorry for the actors who must know they are serving shite.

And you would be correct re: Damian. I've said the same. And Bonus...he had a story with twists. So I for one got annoyed, but cautious when the Dumas twist happened because it immediately felt like the best current story going on on the canvas was about to be hijack. And...looks like I was right.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person that thinks this is a boring soap!  I still read the daily spoiler, but I couldn't sit through an hour of watching.  Also, I always wanted to scream when Phyllis was on the screen, and now I don't have put up with her.

I have definitely become a BTG fan.  I record both GH & BTG, but I'm now watching BTG first.

There were lots of spoiler pics for week of May 5-9 of
Devon/Lily/Holden/Damian/Amy/Nate/Audra.
I posted them on the spoiler thread that week because they all looked so pretty.
I was hopeful.  Sorry to read in the recaps that it was mostly discussion of Dumas!

I'll focus on the positives:

1. VP has been an unexpected addition to the cast. I wasn't thrilled that Amy had been recast simply to eliminate her. Gotta give props that Josh saw more. Amy actually works as the glue for the Winters/Hastings family. The surprise Audra/Amy relationship has added depth to both characters.

2. Victor/Phyllis. It was fun to watch Victor undercut every single Phyllis pitch/bluff. MS played this well. No way Phyllis can get away with histrionics with Victor. It was a nice touch that Victor acknowledged Phyllis' trauma, but that he knows her all to well.

3. Chelsea reading Billy. MCE is being wasted when Chelsea is a victim. Look at how much more interesting Chelsea has been challenging Billy and Adam. Please bring Chelsea back to life. Same with Adam.

4. Anyone else notice that AG sometimes plays this homoerotic vibe with Adam/Billy. Like that look he gave Billy when Adam exited the bar. Since it's neither actor was there during the Delia s/l, it's just a lot tougher to sell the animosity. Since she's always been there, EH's pain with all the Adam's sticks.

-- We're getting really bad soap. I honestly couldn't care less about any of it, and I wish the ratings would freefall so we'd get a change in writers.

-- Does anyone believe Victor would spend his evenings walking around the GCAC and looking for people to talk to? Without Nikki on his arm?

-- I'm again left to looking at sets (the few we get each day). Am I right that they moved the bar in at the GCAC to place it more diagonally to the dining room?

-- The last time we saw Crimson Lights the room looked smaller to me, so I Googled images of CL, and yeah, it's smaller. Along the back wall where the booths are, there once was wall area behind the booth on the right. That wall area is now gone.

-- When Phyllis hijacked Billy's phone to get Dumas' number, I gagged when she went to the park in the middle of the night to break into it. Who does that?

-- I feel sorry for these actors. This is all such garbage that I have no words.

    • The casting of Reginald seemed to have been part of the reason for a lack of exploration of vulnerability in the character. I know Mary talked about not liking the change in Reg, but her disappointment was rarely explored once she left him.  For example, did she ever question if Reg was conning her in Paraguay, or was the Bay City version of Reg real? Imagine running a philanthropic center in Paraguay, and then becoming a social worker in Bay City?  It must have been so frustrating to once be able to provide anything that anyone needed, and now having to rely on government funded programs. And lastly, she went from a house full of servants, to living over a restaurant.  We were supposed to believe that she was so blinded by her love for Vince and the kids, that she never longed for her life when someone else washed her lingerie?
    • This was an excellent "filler" episode but I'd prefer to refer to it as a character building episode. I love that BTG is paced in a way that they can have episodes like this as opposed to the repetitive nature of the other soaps which don't leave room for this. The highlight for me was Eva with Martin's family. They've talked so much about her doing hair and I was so excited to finally get to see that in action. I thought the tension with Samantha was nice since she is a Dupree woman. I also love that Martin is trying to help Eva feel welcomed. I struggled a bit with Martin but he really shines when put across Eva, Kat and his grandparents. He definitely gets my vote for most improved. I also loved the scenes with Dani, Nicole and Andre. I love that Nicole clocked them so easily lol. I know many haven't enjoyed how Dani has acted since the Ted/Eva reveal but I find it so heartwarming watching her with Nicole. They clearly have a deep love for each other despite their differences and I love that Dani still tries even though her approach isn't always great and her whole life is a mess. Nicole/Dani is another one of the star pairs on the show. Anita and Vernon's scenes were excellent and the more I see of this story, the more I can't wait for the Articulettes to show up. I wonder if they've already been quietly cast and are filming. Not that I'm complaining, but the set is like Fort Knox so we really have no clue what is going on there. I can only hope we will see them soon. I also must say, Tamara Tunie looked stunning today.  The Jacob/Naomi scenes were another highlight. I like the working class vibe they give to the show. I'm also becoming intrigued about June and want to know more about how she ended up on the streets and who she's connected to. I hope it's Haley because she's in dire need of some backstory and development. The weak point of the episode were the Bill and Haley scenes. How are you going to have them having sex on his desk and we couldn't see a little bra or shirtless action from Bill? That was tired and a waste of time. They need to work on integrating them more with the rest of the canvas. I do not care about them anymore.
    • I always thought the cliffhanger was so anticlimactic, compared to the Dallas cliffhanger that year and three years earlier Kirby strangled Alexis, which Blake stopped. The Matthew cliffhanger was dull as hell.
    • Setting aside a general distaste for the story -- I was sitting here wondering how long Erica's doppelgänger Jane story lasted?  Also, how did it begin?  What was the setup for Erica to have a double?
    • Fixed. Thanks for letting me know.   DA's passing truly saddened me. More than many of the recent passings. I was holding out hope we'd get one more visit  before she passed.

    • Made even dumber with that Blake/Alexis chokehold, followed by the following season when Matthew resurfaced. WTF? There’s good reason I have skipped from Season 5 straight to Season 9 on a couple of my Dynasty rewatches lol. And Chase was supposed to die, but somehow they talked Foxworth back into one more season. They probably shouldn’t have at all.
    • Philip, like Reva, were characters that should have remained in the 80s and never been bought back to the soap.
    • I was just going through the vault and watching some random episodes from 2001, then 2006. Sigh. What a different show it was back then. It makes me so sad that it’s barely a shell of its former self. It was always so multigenerational. There were compelling stories for all generations without having to sacrifice anything to make it work.
    • We are exactly the same. Ashland Locke at least had potential until JG decided to ruin that as he’s known to do with just about everything. It’s clear Sony and CBS don’t give a [!@#$%^&*].
    • Considering Naomi/Jacob are helping with June... and that she and Jacob have a complicated history with Hayley.. there is more soap opera potential having June and Hayley being related.    This is the downside of the show having one huge extended family... anyone not related to the family are boxed in a corner (i.e. Ashley/Derek, Tomas, Hayley/Bill).   If this were a 30 minute soap, I could understand the one family focus.. but this an hour soap so we best be getting a second family and/or characters not connected to the Duprees unless through work/romantic.. etc.
