Deborah Norville, Inside Edition

After spending 30 years at the helm of “Inside Edition,” anchor Deborah Norville announced on Wednesday’s broadcast that she will be departing the daily newsmagazine which remains the the most-watched and highest rated syndicated programs in its category.

“It has been such an honor and privilege to be here at ‘Inside Edition’ for all these years. A milestone like this is a time for reflection, and on reflection, I have decided that now is the time to move on from ‘Inside Edition,’” said Norville.

“They made me a lovely offer to stay, but there are things I’d like to do and places I want to do them that continuing here doesn’t permit. So, at the end of the season, I’ll be moving on,” she continued. “I’ve got some exciting things in the works, which I’ll talk about later, but what I want to say now is what a privilege it’s been to lead ‘Inside Edition’ for all these years. To work with the incredibly talented team here, and to be invited into your homes every day, it’s an honor I don’t take lightly.”

Although Norville is exiting “Inside Edition,” she is not leaving the CBS Media Ventures family, producer of the show, as she’ll be hosting a syndicated game show for the production company called “Perfect Line,” which is set to premiere this fall.

Before joining “Inside Edition” in 1995, Norville previously worked as an anchor and correspondent for CBS News. She’s won two Emmy awards throughout her career, first for her work as co-host of “TODAY” during her tenure at NBC News, and again as a correspondent for “48 Hours,” soon after joining CBS News.

Outside of anchoring and correspondent work, Norville has also appeared as herself in episodes of such scripted shows as “The Young and the Restless” and “The Game.”

“Deborah’s powerful presence, both on-screen and behind-the-scenes, has contributed immensely to the success of ‘Inside Edition’ for the past 30 years,” said the show’s executive producer Charles Lachman in a statement following Norville’s announcement. “She has made a lasting impact on the show, and I’m excited to follow along as she builds upon her outstanding broadcast legacy in her next chapter.”

Currently in its 37th season, “Inside Edition” consistently ranks among the top 5 most-watched first-run syndicated programs.

Building on  its enduring success by presenting a compelling mix of hard-hitting investigations, exclusive newsmaker interviews and incisive human-interest stories, as well as celebrity and pop culture features, the show reaches a weekly audience of approximately 9.42 million viewers and a daily audience of 3.6 million viewers.

Across social media, the show has nearly 21 million followers on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube & X (formerly Twitter).

I have often forgotten Inside Edition is still on. Good for her. She was treated horribly at Today, for a situation that wasn't her fault (typical of that very cold, unpleasant show). I'm glad she has managed to have a steady career since that time. And she was a much better face for them than Bill O'Reilly ever was.
