Demos are all that matter, and the show is performing much better than The Talk after just four weeks on the air. It has time to grow. The Talk also lost lots of viewers following The Bold and the Beautiful and it aired for 15 seasons.

The fact that Y&R + B&B demos have been up each of the past 4 or so weeks from last year is impressive. Especially since very few shows in any daypart have increased. I'm betting BTG has brought renewed interest to CBS soaps across the board. It can't be a coincidence.

What % of the country is BTG airing? Are some stations showing it out of timeslot eg 9.00 am?

That can affect overall numbers.

Want to see BTG showing growth in the next few months.

At least it is beating GH in key demos, which has to concern ABC.

Credit where it's due, CBS executed a near perfect launch for this show. Massive promotion, a great timeslot & high clearance rates. For comparison (thanks again @JAS0N47 ) B&B had only a 93-94% clearance rate for its first 5 years. Generations, by comparison, had a 98% rate until its last few weeks on the air.

I do wish BTG's numbers were higher. However, Y&R and B&B up over last year must be making CBS happy. This is good for BTG. The numbers wouldn't be up if The Talk was still airing.

I'm curious what percentage of BTG's audience doesn't watch live. I feel the audience spreads out to a wider base that isn't "traditional". This may be another plus for BTG.

BTG has been really great quality, IMO. I see this show as a successful launch. Soaps don't have the cache like they used to. There aren't going to be blowout numbers. Live numbers are solely less important than they were years ago. Hopefully, BTG is streaming well.

I see nothing scary yet. They had a very powerful first week. It's normal to have a cool-down period. But trust me... people are talking about the show... sharing it with their relatives. I've been noticing activation on social media like never before. I predict we'll see BTG grow in the coming months.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand still... they are out-performing GH in crucial demos... What does that tell you?

I think the numbers for BTG are very encouraging. Of course, I want them higher but I believe that will happen over time. CBS definitely pays closer attention to the 25-54 demo and it's doing well there so far. I consider BTG to be a success.

    • I spent the afternoon coming up with an alternative idea for John's death. Suppose, Orpheus wasn't caught after Marlena, Steve, Paul and Andrew foiled the nuclear bomb plot, but took John as his prisoner and went on the lam. Eventually, it gets revealed that he was the one who had the sepsis drug stolen, not some random junkie. And he uses that, and John as bait to lure Marlena, Steve, Shawn, etc. to where he's holding John. While they're all searching for Orpheus, John and the drug, Shawn manages to find the drug and rushes off to save Bo, but immediately after that, Orpheus captures Steve and Marlena and ties them up in a room with John, who's also tied up and weak but has a bomb strapped to his chest. As the bomb ticks down, Orpheus explains that he's finally going to kill them all, once and for all. But just as he's about to leave the room, and the timer on the bomb reaches zero, John breaks free of his restraints and attacks Orpheus. They struggle, fall out a window and the bomb explodes, killing both John and Orpheus.  Idk if that's the best idea in the world, but it seems to work for me. Not only would it have John die as a hero, but it would also rid us of Orpheus, who I hope is completely forgotten about now. Even though Marlena, Steve, Roman, etc. are still on canvas, he has no purpose anymore now that John is dead. And it just doesn't feel right to me that John is gonna be dead, while Orpheus is still alive. In some ways, it almost feels like, after all these years, he beat John. Which is total crap. If Stefano couldn't beat John, there's no way this pain in the ass could do it

    • Also, good to see that Hope has kept up Bo's fade for the past year. It must be tough to maintain a high and tight fade, when your client is in a coma.
    • Ooooh. Sounds like the lame stories that came right before Diane came back from the dead.
    • Bad enough I barely remember LOL. I recall the month was tied between the surrogacy, Phyllis sleuthing on her laptop at the bar in the Grand Phoenix about Tara and Ashland, and Sally getting Summer her dream job to get her out of town.
    • 'Oh...that's Ms. B!tch.' OMG!!! Not Silk Press Sheila giving an old school threatening villainess scene. and the building background music was EVERYTHING in that moment.   Oooooo YES! Loving Anita vs Tracy. If this is how it's going down with Tracy, I can't wait for Sharon to show up.
    • There wasn't any exposition on this that I recall, but I was too busy sobbing over John's death to notice if I am being honest.
    • HAHAHAHAHAHAH   I believe it because I've never heard they were not all bio before this. They always seem to favor DD to me. I am shocked.
    • I don't think so.  But it works so I can't complain.   Correct.  All of these men (except Rory at this point) have proven their talent so there isn't any bias or drama here.
    • And Kayla could've checked in on him... I'm willing to dismiss the missing exposition (after this comment), but I was beginning to wonder if Bo's dream was how they all suddenly appeared in Salem.
