Do we think Keith Robinson was always the the first choice for Ted but wasn't available for the first 3 months of taping? If the show wanted Robinson to be Ted badly enough, maybe Maurice Johnson was meant to be a temporary fill-in from the start.

Well, if Maurice Johnson already knew he'd been replaced by the time the show premiered, but yet he also touted the show and helped spread the word...I think that speaks to his high level of professionalism. I hope he lands on another acting gig soon!

Daytime recycles the same actors. This helps him possibly get cast for B&B or Y&R down the line should a role come up that fits him. I think he did well to handle this gracefully

It helped that Nancy Lee Grahn had chemistry with each performer, too.  Which is no mean feat, when you consider that two of the three Masons were gay.

Yeah, that was no small accomplishment!

I realized most of the SB stuff was moved to the proper thread in the Cancelled Soaps folder. Apologies for the derailment.

So, to try and keep on topic, hopefully, the chemistry will be there, too, for Karla Moseley and the new actor. As above, chemistry with recasts can be a crap shoot.

But the chem matters with Daphnee D, not KaMo, right? Recast for Ted, Nicole's husband?

It's been known to happen.

One important thing about all of the buzz this has caused is that it's shown the show has a passionate fanbase. For a new soap I do think all of this attention is impressive and a good sign that they have a diverse and unique fanbase for a soap. The amount of people I've seen ask what a recast means has been kinda funny but also nice because it means they're bringing a new audience to soaps.

Last night I was in a Spaces on Twi/X & they said they'd been in the middle of a podcast when the article broke & they had to stop the podcast & restart later. People are hanging on this show's "news" like they're waiting on important family news.

Oh, right. But the point stands.

Yeah, exactly. That's what is surprising me so much, yet not entirely given it has finally, actively courted Black viewership - it is genuinely garnering an all-new audience unused to these basic daytime BTS changes.

Characters like Dani, Hayley, Eva and Dana, etc. being so polarizing is equally good.

Yes and that people care so much about the character after just a month too

I may be in a minority, but I am not that attached to the character yet. I've only seen him in 2-3 more interesting scenes and the rest has been just... a handsome man walking around in a turtleneck making girls and gays swoon. That's all. I think some people around the internet want there to be drama where there isn't. I've left jobs, just because something doesn't align with my schedule... Sometimes it's just personal life stuff changing your priorities. There can be a million and one things that can lead to a re-cast. There is not a single sign that the show is "disposing" of him or treating him badly... like some people are speculating. I am not saying you can't speculate - there just isn't any proof of that. Give me proof and we'll talk.

Also... I struggle to understand the emotional outbursts in facebook and some other places of social media. People are acting like it's Brooke Logan being re-cast on The Bold and The Beautiful after 40 years. LOL. I'm not opposed to them... (the reactions), just don't "get them". I also don't want this to follow like a shadow... the new actor who is going to play Ted. He doesn't deserve for people to continue harping on this issue for months. I hope not.

Again it boils down to letting people feel how they feel. IF that's how they feel that's a good thing. It shows they care, and are passionate

If they didn't feel anything then I'd be worried about being apatheic

Yup! People can get emotional as much as they want. If they want... they can get into mental breakdowns for all I care... But I'm also seeing lies and people spreading gossip that the show is disposing of him or that the show treated him badly. And their proof is re-tweets on twitter or... "they feel like this happened".

Just because we imagine something, doesn't mean it happened.

And just because some person on the Internet said it, does not mean it is so, right?
