These are fair points, but I don't blame those who are skeptical given the corporate track record. For now I am keeping an open mind given that the Martin/Smitty story is about a relationship breakdown. They aren't going to be affectionate at this time. I don't find myself rooting for the couple at this point anyway. I'm kinda hoping that Smitty books a workout with Diego.

Yes, when she retired PGP opted to do away with her position, Executive in Charge of Production. Both Ellen Wheeler at GL & Chris Goutman at ATWT were forced to deal with CBS without the buffer previous EPs had in place.

And, of course, absolutely so much time has passed. We live in a different world.

Leslie is so over the top. Lol at her acting like she's going to jump off the roof. And I guess she can't be Silk Press Sheila anymore because she changed her hair.

Bill having Dani arrested is only going to keep the feud going. Once again she was ready to move on and she has been pushed away from moving on again. The daughters are certainly going to hate him for having their mother arrested, but then again he may have set it up to make Naomi's husband take all the blame.

posted this on another board:

‘what did smitty ever see in martin?’

that is the question!

unless smitty is some kind of masochist who needs to be dominated and humiliated (and, who knows —  there’s already been a three-way:),  i cannot believe that martin has always treated him with such contempt and abuse.

so, what i want to know (well, what i would like to see and not be told) is how, and why, their relationship has deteriorated to this point. unfortunately, saddling them with college-aged teenagers, means that the only way viewers will find out with be is a lot of exposition, and maybe some flashbacks (generally not a fan of flashbacks, though the one with dani and bill after naomi’s wedding was well done, and contextualized dani’s behavior).

now, had they introduced martin and smitty at an earlier point in the relationship, we could have seen how two educated, intelligent, ambitious gay men navigate the challenges and trade-off starting a family entails — who agreed to do what — and then watch has the inevitable conflicts unfold.

and — the age questions go away — a win-win!

Vanessa mentioning today that she is an empty nester just further hit home how aged-up the entire cast of characters is. Given BTG's emphasis on families and inter-generational relationships, the lack of any characters under 16 is a head-scratcher. I'm sure there must be a reason, but I can't figure it out yet.

I still think Leslie is lying about her connection to Ted. And the lie is somehow related to Andre's parents. Besides, making Ted and Bill both cheaters would be overkill, wouldn't it?

It's great that soaps are employing authors and playwrights as writers on the soaps since they tend to offer a fresh perspective and lord knows soap operas need some new perspectives.

So Christopher Dunn did the breakdown and Danielle Paige did the script writing.  She's written for soaps in the past (GL), and has written novels that offer new spins on classic characters (Dorothy from Wizard of Oz) so I'll be intrigued to see what future episodes written by her will be like.

First thing is that she offered up two very good cliffhangers.

Eva vs Kat still well done, and I liked the reality check both Nicole & Chelsea gave to Kat.  Kat is correct about Eva, but she's going about things in the wrong way.  And Eva seems conflicted because she's finding that Nicole and Ted seem like nice people.

Now the new hair on 'Leslie' is probably what she looked like back when she knew Ted so she's doing this stunt in order to show herself to Ted.

Vanessa/Doug had some focus with the two being empty nesters and the love/romance no longer in their relationship and now both are keeping things from the other.   Sounds like Doug has a gambling addiction and it looks as though Joey (Hello Jon L!) knows this and will use that to get Doug under his thumb.   I have a feeling Vanessa coming from money might be a factor in their plans of sorts.

I have a feeling son in law Jacob won't be popular at any future Dupree gatherings and this is sure to put extra strain on his marriage to Naomi.

Lastly, I noticed that there was some character propping being done with Super Nurse Ashley yesterday... and it was a classic example of telling us what we should think about a character instead of letting the audience decide for themselves what they think of Ashley.
