Today's episode felt a lot more settled in than any of last weeks episode. Of course we have to see how the week plays out once other writers jump into the mix but so far so good. It's such a shame to think other than her short stint on GH that she has never really been HW before. For all the kinks the show needs to work out, the writing is excellent and she clearly has a good handle on crafting entertaining stories with characters you care about.

This was Dani's best episode. Of course she went to an extreme with the gun but it's so cruel that Bill asked her to be at the wedding. I want to understand why he is trying so hard to torment her with this. If I were Haley I'd be side eying that as well. Does he really want you if he can't let his wife's family go?

The scenes of the Dupree family at home were excellent. I loooooooved the way Anita handled Dani. The only thing I wish was different is that I wish someone called her out on pressuring Dani to go.

I dont get or like the comparisons to Erica. Erica was not crazy. Everything she did was calculated and fueled by her own selfish desires. Dani is clearly someone suffering mental health issues. Simply scolding her is not going to bring her down to Earth. She needs to see a psychiatrist and potentially be put on meds bc there is something not right in her head. She's not a bad person but rather is fragile and broken. She's immature and emotionally stunted, bc of the way her family always treated her as a child. I think being a model was her first chance at getting independence but she never got to fulfill those dreams bc she gave it up at age 19 and became submissive to Bill. Now she is divorced, alone and never developed the proper skills to function alone as an adult. Dani is weak in a way that would never describe Erica

Oh and Anita is no Mona. She's more of a Stephanie Forrester type.

I agree. Dani isn't Erica Kane. There's only one. 😁

Yes, I agree, Dani has mental health issues.

Same.

I thought this was Karla's best episode, acting wise.  I didn't think she was OTT during the scenes when Dani was holding the gun - it was the right about of crazy.

Leslie and Eva are the duplicitous duo of this show.  I love them!

Ron Carlivati wrote a pretty good episode. ;)

RC did BDW

Lynn Marin wrote the script

With Susan Dansby as editor

That was a whole a$$ mess. Which of course means I loved it. lol.

I can definitely see the difference in MVJ writing her 'babies' vs now it's the other writers' turn. So it will take getting used to. MVJ being the creator, I can see her pacing in that first week. This episode reminded me of GH and its quick cuts...EXCEPT so much better written for me. Which means that CAN work if you have the writing.

I can't say it enough how happy I am that Dani pulling a gun on Bill/Haley was REAL. Not a daydream. Not a fantasy. REAL. Dani's monologue was giving me Erica Kane for sure. And then Chelesa was recording it live, too. That was the right kind of messy. And genius because you don't really see that on the other soaps. I'm sure it has been used, but it's been a minute. I liked that. And I liked seeing Dani being on a high and such a diva ('I'll see myself out')...only to be brought low by Anita and her cutting words. It was nice to see KM play those two spectrum this episode as well as her scene with Nicole. I just really love their dynamic.

And that post-wedding family meeting. Ooooo TT was so giving Black Mama. And I felt all that. I was sad to see a little rift with Jacob and Naomi. They haven't been together too much, but I still feel invested.

I can't see Leslie on screen now without thinking SilkPressed Sheila. ( :P at @Cheap21). It was nice to have her and Eva as B plot. So that's where Dana/Leslie comes in. And they have a whoooole cover story. But I'm starting to think...more so after Leslie mentioned how Ted didn't recognize her when she was at the elevator...that this story is a case of mistaken identity...that Ted's twin brother is the father. But Leslie didn't know he was a twin. Perhaps the twin had an affair, but stayed with his wife. And Leslie doesn't even know he's dead. Meanwhile, so Eva don't know Leslie ran Laura off the road, either. Very interesting.

And Andre and Ashley were so C plot. I didn't like it at first, but I must admit that it grew on me. Meanwhile, poor Derek. And then the woman wanting a picture of Andre and Ashley (with Gossip Nurse at the ready)...Derek looking insecure.

I really was loving the quick wit of the dialogue. And there were several gems. And I see the director was really experimenting and I loved it. There was the frame where Dani slowly walked into the living room before Anita dressed her down. And then at the end of it where Dani was turning left and right...with a brief blur...and seeing she was the only person in the room that wasn't a couple and looking sad and alone...I felt it was well done.

So Bill and Haley got married after all. Oh, well.

Good start to the week. I can't wait to see what some of the other writers do with the canvas.

-- Did I miss something? Do we know why Leslie waited all these years to get back at Ted and the Duprees?

-- The baby in the elevator was a complete snooze. I feel like we've seen this so many times I'm comatose.

-- LMAO at the wedding stuff. It was campy and over-the-top in the right amounts, although it's wild that Anita and Vernon are SO in charge of their family but can't get their daughter to listen to a word they say whether she's holding a gun or not.

-- Loved that family conversation halfway through the episode when they again announced "We're the Duprees" and that they handle things LMAO. And then Anita said "First order of business is finding Danielle!" LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

-- Nicole's enabling Dani was hilarious. This family is so messed up.

-- Also hilarious? Vernon calling for a press conference with the entire family -- except for the family member who had the gun.

-- Bill and Hayley's living room is the first set that's a miss. It looks nothing like a room that would be off that (also awful) foyer. Bad layout, bad furniture, bad decor.

Okay, you are right. ;) But that monologue at the wedding...I could totally see Mrs. Kane dressing a man and his hussy down like that.

I'm a bit confused about Dana aka Leslie's connection with Ted and why Ted doesn't recognize her. But I'm sure that will be explained later.

So Maurice Johnson is going to play the twin brother at some point? I can't wait to see that play out and how different or the same the characters are.

I never shared my general assessment after the first week, and I don’t think it’s worth dropping into this thread, but I will def express that I think there are too many Duprees on the canvas right now. I don’t think any other soap has ever had so much of its central family on at once, and it really came through like a ton of bricks when the entire family was at the wedding and then at Gran Casa Dupree and we could only go off to two other locations because that’s just how many non-Duprees we have at the moment.

I’m not 100% sure how I would reconfigure things, but I think Ted’s family having more of a place in the cast would add something to the Leslie/Eva and Andre stories.

Also, I need the opening for every episode to end with Colby Muhammad’s party girl smile. I neeeeed to see more of a Kat, especially with her grandparents. I think that’s one of the things I mean when I say I’m tired of Dani. As big as the Dupree family is, we’ve only gotten a glimpse of a few of the family connections. I need the characters to be developed outside of just this storyline.

Sure he did.  He wrote how the characters acted, the length of the scenes, the order of the scenes......the breakdown of the episode.

God help us all!!!

I'm loving the show. It's a breath of fresh air

I can't help but worry that someone at CBS or P& G or both are gonna mess with the show

this is the kind of thing i’ve been talking about. i would have been so much more engaged in this storyline if i had a better sense of their back story.

and yes, why now? why not wait a week or two — or three:)  for the reveal? there would have been nothing to lose, and so much to gain.
