Today's started off great with Doug and the necklace story. The rest with Stephanie and Co. was fast forward material.

Honestly, I'm really wondering if they actually did go back and clean up a bit - or just held Ron on a very short leash. Because some scenes are really like night and day  at this point. It's hard to imagine it came from the same writer.

I’ve had so many questions

Did Ron decide to finally change his ways? Did he know his job was on the line after that Body&Soul mess and decided to be on his best behavior? Was there interference, editing, re-writing?

Even, (though this is unlikely to me) did he know he was gonna be fired and decide to go out with a bang?

I hope we find out the answer someday

Its a day to day episode.

Today was mostly not good. Too many of the characters I couldn't care less about.

Wednesday's episode was solid and Doug on half naked with only a towel didn't hurt.

-- So Leo writes a gossip article for the Spectator rag and now DiMera is falling apart? Stocks are falling and vendors are leaving because of a loser gossip columnist? Soaps are so bad when it comes to business stories.

-- Janet Spellman-Drucker is really working her Google machine overtime. Those establishing shots are hilarious! About zero of them represent the set that appears right after. My new favorite is those wide wrought iron gates opening to some incredible house and land. Then we get a 6'x10' set made from cardboard.

I think they're doing a fantastic job building up the tension. Even if I didn’t know something big was coming, it feels like it’s just around the corner. Today’s episode hit the peak with so many characters fingering knives and guns—there was in fact too much fingering for my taste.

Thought #2: There’s no way Holly seriously believes Maggie would be fine with her hiding a felon in her bedroom (and using her printer to help him with his resume). Also, does this mean The Bistro has been without a maître d' ever since that creep Ava killed after he attacked her?

Thought #3: I really appreciate that they’re using Chad appropriately as a newspaper publisher. 'Muckraker Chad' has so much potential. And given that he’s already weighed appeasing his family, it could create a unique dynamic—Chad wanting The Spectator to succeed as a legacy for his kids, not wanting to get too close to EJ or Kristen, and still knowing right from wrong. He could be Salem’s version of William Randolph Hearst—Citizen Chad.  I don't get why we haven't seen anyone directly respond to Chad, (nor whether he got the mustard out of his shirt).

While I don’t usually engage in backstage drama—I prefer overthinking what's onscreen—I have to agree that the establishing shots are more distracting than helpful in setting the tone. They make me question how the DiMera entry gates looks like that, especially when two weeks ago Brady walked from the mansion to the square.  And if the gates exist, why do so many people just barge in the living room? And if Aremid is suddenly within walking distance of Rachel’s house, does that mean Alamainia is now next to Smith Island? Instead of enhancing the experience, it pulls me out of it. Not only do the interior and exterior curtains not match, but the circumstances of the plot don’t fit the urban vibe the establishing shots suggest.  I mean, that's a huge hospital to save by tap dancing fundraisers.

    • I've said this before, but I strongly suspect Carlivati would've just... brought Duke back again if he'd stayed at the show long enough. They really fúcked up Duke's return leaving him moribund and pathetic after her eturned, whereas Ian Buchanan IRL is anything but. I have no real interest in another return for him but honestly Zombie Duke Round 2, with a little life in him again, could not be worse than most of Anna's dreadful pairings since, and given Tristan and Robert are clearly not an option. But I do think she should have a new, better man.
    • Am I wrong or was Gail (and putting her with Lee) a Marland addition?

    • I loathed Duke and especially loathed Anna being with Duke.   I hated that the tango was one of their things.    I don't care about Chase one way or another.   I would have enjoyed finally Finola dancing as Anna without Duke.  But it wasn't that important to me.
    • Doug looked delicious in Thursday's episode. The episode wasn't as great as Wednesday's. I was a bit disappointed. It was nice seeing Paul again but I'm not thrilled at the way their writing John's exist.

    • Thanks again @Paul Raven .  With Denny we now get the arrival of Toni Bua. If the show had been renewed, I wonder if she would have stayed on. Given the influx of new female characters in her age range, I don't know.

And it was so great to see them again, and for the two of them to finally have scenes with both Shawn and Ciara, as a family. I especially enjoyed the first scene with Hope at Bo’s bedside and the flashback to their wedding. It was really sweet. Victoria Konefal did a really good job too. It really is a shame that things didn’t work out with her… and that her character was so disregarded by the previous writing team. And yeah, they really didn’t need to have Ciara mention her serial killer though. It was not necessary. I mean, Ron’s gone lol we don’t need to do this anymore. And I don’t know where she was going with those leather pants either. As for John, like I said yesterday, I just don’t know. I’m glad that he’s a part of trying to save Bo’s life, but to have him go out like this… As much as I disliked the whole Orpheus thing, maybe they should’ve continued on with that for John’s exit story. Like I said before, and have John sacrifice his own life to kill Orpheus once and for all. Because the fact that Orpheus is still gonna be alive while John isn’t kinda pisses me off. I can’t help but wonder if this was always planned or if Paula/Jeanne changed the story. But I think this whole thing is gonna be very divisive. Soap Twitter/social media will probably be explosive today.
    • It was interesting to peruse Twitter and seeing some fans who were very upset Anna didn't get to do a tango with Chase, while others were glad because they felt that was her special dance with Duke. A good reminder of how long-lasting soap fanbases can be, even as the show has tried to move Anna on. How any Duke/Anna fan did manage to stick with the show I don't know, but points for will power, I suppose.
    • It's probably a good thing most of us don't post here often now as the shameful conduct of the "legacy media" enabling the attention seeking and grudge holding of Tapper and Alex Thompson would probably have broken the servers. I avoid CNN as often as I can, so I had no idea that every anchor on CNN, probably even an AI Larry King, was plugging the book 24/7. The wagons truly are circling, as even some journalists who love to pretend they aren't like the rest, like Dave Weigel, have joined in. I am at the point where I have no use for any major reporters or media figures. I find it especially disgusting when I see reporters who talk about losing loved ones supporting this book after the reports you posted.
