And easily, Anita could have possibly been with a sibling/family member of Vernon's prior to them getting together, etc. I'd hate that kind of storytelling, but it's a viable option. Or a child could change their name; no one said the child needed to be a Dupree by blood.

Before settling down with Vernon, Anita slept her way through the entire Dupree family, including with family patriarch Paul Cheeks Dupree ala Reva Shayne. 😛

But that wasn’t a good/solid marriage at all.

And, indeed, no one has claimed that it was. What I said ...

She had to have known blindly turning the other way for years was going to eventually result in something disastrous.

Not necessarily. Whose to say they couldn't have gone on, the way they were, till the end of their days. Obviously there were multiple affairs. Going by her own experience, she was unprepared for Bill to blow them up. Hadn't happened before.

She was in love more with the idea of her marriage than the actual state of her marriage. She was willing to go along with the facade just as long as Bill stuck with her, but he ultimately left her.

Ultimately some gold-digging ambitious whore let Bill know she expected a marriage & she got her way.

Bill didn't just leave her. More to it.

Or Nicole or Dani have a male twin that was stolen at birth and raised on the other side of the gates...

Well, you know Leslie and Dana can both be male names...

But again, that is not a healthy relationship or sustainable way to live. Who's to say another affair that wasn't Haley wouldn't have caused him to leave? They would be living in denial, which is not a solid way to live.

Haley was just the straw that broke the camel's back in that marriage. For now at least.

I don't think you understood my point. So I'll clarify and explain. Right now she is the outsider in regards to the Duprees. She has put herself in that position through her own actions. In this moment she is the unwanted one - the one that everyone in the family hates, disapproves off and etc. In that context she IS the underdog aka outsider trying to gain a stronger position and respect (through marrying Bill). They've said many times about how they are so powerful and build that community and etc... and it leaves your with the impression that the Homewrecker will have a lot of trouble getting accepted after she did what she did. Yes, she is an opportunist no doubt, but she is also put in the corner in a way. And that is what I mean by... The underdog becoming powerful. It may happen that one day Hayley owns The Duprees in some way. That slap in the beginning with everyone looking at her like she is the scum of the earth... May comeback to haunt the entire family. In a metaphorical way.

It was not just a coincidence that the entire show started that way. MVJ is very smart.

Being an outsider does not equate to being the underdog. You're looking at it contextually. But that coin has another side. Hayley NOW is in a position of power. She got Bill to marry her & at the country club & live in the community of her choice. He'd have been fine getting married anywhere & living apparently many different places. It is Hayley who wants to force her way into the Fairmont society. Sorry, I do not think I misunderstood you. Perhaps we see Hayley differently. But agree 100% MVJ brilliant.

I want to challenge all of us to say what were the 5 most important things that happened this first week. To be continued ...

Finally, here, we agree.

I am kind of hoping Michele Val Jean is smarter than that, especially in 2025.

I am so beyond ready to see Cady McClain in her first-ever original daytime role.

Ha, I was joking, I really don't want that to happen, lol.

I think a son stolen at birth that they thought was dead is most feasible to me.

Most definitely; hard to believe we have hit Friday already! One week in the basket!

I would say BTG definitely has the best production of the daytime soaps (B&B has the best lighting however). I also wonder how they are sustaining this level of sets and production.

I will certainly be in the minority here, my only gripe is that BTGs plot lines are a little slow, and some of the supporting cast actors sound unnatural, like they are reciting lines.

Especially in this day and age where there's so much to watch, I think they needed to come right out of the gate like it was sweeps month.

General Hospital is not well written, but I feel slightly more gripped by the plots.

But it's just the beginning, the BTG will continue to grow. I really hope this is successful and leads to other soaps.

Agreed! I have been branded as this, that, and the other regarding my viewpoints of this show. But when this show was first announced, I immediately stated two things:

Start with an interesting explosive beginning.

MOVE IT ALONG

You're also right that there is so much more to watch so this really needed to stand out.
