Syndicated shows “Dish Nation,” “Person, Place or Thing” and “Pictionary” will not be returning for another season, reports TVNewsCheck, citing a spokeswoman for Fox First Run, the first-run development arm for Fox Entertainment, and the distribution company for Fox Television Stations.

According to the outlet, as ratings continue to fall below sustainable financial levels for syndicated programming, many station groups are faced with making the difficult decision of what shows will continue airing on their schedules.

Of the first-run syndicated programs currently airing across much of FOX Television Stations, TVNewsCheck noted that only talk show “Sherri,” distributed by Debmar-Mercury, and FOX-owned “TMZ” and “TMZ Live” appear safe. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. distributed shows like “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” “Extra” and “True Crime News,” and Trifecta’s “Crime Expose with Nancy O’Dell,” are said to be on the bubble.

“Fox’s decisions have ramifications for stations all across the nation because it is the group that clears shows through the country’s three largest markets: New York, Los Angeles and Chicago,” the outlet said in its reporting while emphasizing stations are seeking daytime programming that “can generate revenue streams across multiple platforms and/or be run multiple times a day.”

Looking to the future, only two first-run offerings are set to premiere this fall, both of which are game shows – CBS Media Ventures vehicle “Perfect Line,” hosted by Deborah Norville, and “Scrambled Up!” from Keller/Noll, Playing Field Entertainment and Crazy Legs Productions.

Game shows continue performing well for stations with “Jeopardy!” “Wheel of Fortune” and “Family Feud” at the top of the syndication ratings, and even the Jaleel White-hosted game show “Flip Side” growing to all time highs, emerging as the fourth most watched syndicated game show.

A co-production between Fox First Run and CBS Media Ventures, the Jerry O’Connell-hosted “Pictionary” premiered in the fall of 2022 and is based on the beloved game of quick sketches and hilarious guesses by Mattel. Meanwhile, the Dino Bones Productions produced “Person, Place or Thing” debuted in 2023 and is hosted by Melissa Peterman

After an initial test run in the summer of 2011, “Dish Nation” officially entered the syndication game in the fall of 2012, featuring a group of radio deejays discussing the latest news and information with an emphasis on celebrities and entertainment. In its later seasons, the show became a talk/entertainment hybrid and was hosted by Tamar Braxton, Headkrack, Gary with da Tea, Da Brat, Tanner Thomason and Jessie Woo.

He can always hope for another Big Brother guest hosting stint.

I'd never heard of most of these shows.

I'd say Extra possibly ending is an end of an era, but that era ended 10 or more years ago. These days people just go online for celebrity gossip.

I enjoyed Person Place or Thing but they moved it to an earlier time right before GMA3 in my area so I no longer could watch. I only sat through Pictionary when it was sandwiched between PPT and 25 Words or Less in the game show line up that airs after GH in my market, wasn’t a fan tbh

I didn’t know Dish Nation was even still a thing

    • I feel like AMC would be the easiest of their soaps to revive but a reboot seems cursed at this point. I wish we had more insight on what was pitched for the primetime reboot as well as these movies. That would give us a better idea of why it keeps getting shot down.
    • Mansion of the Damned sure is a "talkative" horror movie.  In the past when I've watched those episodes, I was paying attention to The Edge of Night characters and not really zeroing in on the rehearsals/blocking/filming of the actual movie.  This time I've been following the plot of Mansion of the Damned pretty closely, and all I can say is Hester Atherton and Nicholas Harriman are about the most chit-chatty Witch and Devil I've ever heard in my life!
    • Ashley and Derek have been so isolated that I need the show to develop something, anything to justify their presence. It's not that I think Joey being her father will be the greatest story ever told but at least it would be something and connect her to more characters. I just need the show to move forward with them. Out of all the characters, these are the only two with no storyline/development. We have recurring characters who are better used with less screentime. If the show is going to keep them on contract they need to do something with them.
    • I never thought I'd say it, but SC is B&B's best male actor - by far. SK is next. Has there ever been a US soap that has so much female talent surrounding by Himbos? KKL, JMW, HT, KB, AN, RB could be/have been leading ladies on any other soap. Even the secondary females are the ones who carry their scenes. It's been rare periods when B&B actually had a few solid male cast members. JMW really did a great job in the scenes with AN. Considering everything we've witnessed the past couple of years with Steffy/Hope, I thought reveal may ring hollow. JMW proved me wrong. No doubt this is Emmy material.
    • You won't even accept a minute cameo from Ms Marcil herself so she can collect her cheque?
    • Which has also slowed down from 100 pages a day, but I digress.

Yeah. When even I am getting annoyed with it (and still need to catch up on DAYS new team...two weeks behind now grrr) enough to take a break...and B&B holds my interest more for a show where nothing is going on...it's a BAD sign.   Seriously thinking about that break until

Then we go from there. I just can't believe JG just went and lost all the momentum that was built up over the last month. And during May Sweeps, too? No, ma'am.
    • Works for me!!! Just the back of some brunettes head and a hug lol on the Island And also, I like how it's brand new info Mo was good at his job in the 90's.  That's pretty much the entire reason he's still on the show.
    • I recently edited an older episode to do a Denise Alexander edit but Mo was in scenes & I had forgotten that back then he was actually good at his job.  The contrast with today is well alarming.
