Alicia Coppola was definitely much more popular. I don't think Robin Christopher was unpopular, but no one really cared a great deal about her time on the show. Her biggest story use was when JFP paired her with John Bolger (and then three all three actors together again on OLTL).

The handling of Dano and Christopher at ABC was like working backwards - let's find these old characters, who would never have any ties, and throw them together because ABC viewers were surely glued to AW from 1994-1996.

For me personally I never understood the idea of bringing characters over from cancelled soaps.  I know people do enjoy the character living on, but these characters couldn't save their old soaps so why do we think they will help current shows?  Especially jumping from NBC to ABC.

It's a cheap ploy even if the idea is interesting.  We have to pretend all these crazy connections make sense in the same way we are supposed to pretend Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, Sarah Brown, Tamara Braun, etc didn't already play characters on GH.

The funniest part is I think ABC actually did try to buy Felicia from P&G but they declined. If they had been able to then Robin and Linda likely would have been playing Lorna and Felicia.

At least that spared us a world with a later story where Skye kidnapped Lorna and impersonated her.

Exactly.  ABC couldn't have AW or Felicia Gallant, but they could have whatever they had with Linda Dano, throw in someone who worked with her on AW and who had ABC soap ties as well, and then cross their fingers and hope for the best.

ICAM!!

I may be wrong and I certainly don't know enough Ryan's Hope history or backstory to be certain, but IIRC Carlivati did actually make sure to slot in Ava's conception to a time prior to RH itself. Delia had a rather detailed explanation onscreen which involved her coming back to New York after having Ava, then either getting involved with Pat, marrying Frank, etc. Whether that timetable contradicted the show's backstory I can't say. At least it wasn't as tossed off as Sasha and Cody's lineage.

If you look at stuff that aired around 2017, it’s everywhere. They were using some kind of lighting that picked up the blue hues that almost every set was bathed in at that time, and it reflected blue on everyone’s whitened teeth! Scenes in the Metro Court bar/restaurant were especially bad. It has mostly gone away since COVID, every once in awhile it comes back. There were scenes with Finola where it appeared she had glowing blue teeth during those days.

They stopped moving the cameras around as much as they used to. Those shots of people coming down the main stairs inside GH near the lobby/nurses desk with a camera following them have stopped. It’s much more static. The lighting is also more flat and has a sameness when it used to vary by scenes. I have noticed less day to evening shots too. But everyone’s teeth are not blue like they used to be all the time, just some of the time, so that’s good.

    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
