Yeah. I could almost find an excuse in my head for Lois's actions, but even I would be hard pressed. The best I got was that Lois made a bit show of showing off Gio and the rest of the family under PM's run which gave off a vibe of a secret...just not that she was hiding a baby from her daughter. And that...I feel like the writers are going to say that she maneuvered Gio onto the canvas because she's always known where BLQ's baby was. And I just don't see her keeping BLQ completely clueless on the baby's whereabout all these years.

Where's the Carly gif of her saying I don't buy it. I like seeing Rena and Amanda in a story, but I expect this to have the same reaction/backlash as Peter is Anna's son and Cody's is Mac's son. And at least with Cody and Mac, they were able to find a way to make that work.

Nah.  It will all turn into a bunch of drama less nothing.  Gio will be so happy to have 2 alive parents he will be the grandson/great-grandson whatever the Q's have always wanted.  Everyone will be mad at Lois for 5 minutes, but then totally understand giving the child to a widowed woman that was sad was for the best.

I mean, I swear I remember Olivia, Sonny, Brook Lynn and Lois talking about Gio's mom finding out she was pregnant after her husband died.  Did Gio's fake mom run around with a pregnancy suit for months?  While playing for Carnegie Hall?  I need to know about Gio's dead mother tbh.

The only way I could see this story *almost* working is if Lois reached out to Ned and Ned/Lois decided where the baby should go.  Then, after years and Gio losing his mother Lois had regrets and started slowly moving Gio into the fold so BLQ could eventually meet her long lost son.  Although, Ned seems none the wiser on this so that's just fanfiction.  Again, it would create appropriate drama between Ned/Lois/Olivia/Dante/Brook etc.

Well he has enough power to keep looping JPS back into his role of Weakest Cassadine ever so...but seriously...

Thank you for all of this tea. I did not know that MB had even had one. It does put the potential of his breakdown story under PM in perspective.

I was just about to say...wait. Ned knows??? lol. I mean that would be cool if he had done it in the past. But unless the writers just do something sloppy, it does seem like fanfiction at this moment with what's been shown on screen.

It's almost making me what to go back and see if I can find the Brooke/Chase wedding scenes to see what Lois said about Gio's family again to see if it feels like a made-up story. Almost.

Tracy being at the heart of this would make sense. Or Olivia. They both have mob ties that could further justify wanting to keep Gio safe.

And now I've realized Tracy is a great grandmother to a 20-year-old. It is one of those moments where I wonder if they will even ponder the dynamics beyond having Ned joke about her being "great-granny."

I think Chase is a decent enough B-player, maybe paired off with Sasha if they are both staying around (unless they de-relate her from Cody), but maybe just don't have him at the Nurses' Ball again...

JPS also has an extremely vocal fanbase. By the end I don't think Howarth and Easton did. Not to that level, anyway.

From what I can tell, I believe it. So many people still want Vanna to happen. I was a fan maybe, but I'm over it at this point. Especially if it reduces Anna to Whiny Anna who I really do not like.

I agree. But I just recently noticed that now he has no family in town. I don't want them back, but it just made me go Hm. But I'm here for always having that Good Guy/Hero archetype...usually a cop...on soaps.

I'm sure we'll see Violet again...

Lack of family probably should be a reason to write the character out, but he might be better off on his own given what a drag Finn was.

I still see some fans talking about how he was the only one who loved Liz's kids and Lucky can never compare. They must really be committed.

Ssssh.

Even if this baby storyline was to blow up him and BLQ, he does have friendships with Dante, Jordan, and the PCPD. But I am shocked I am just realizing how slowly he has been isolated enough to be written out...almost impossible a year or two ago.

Well...all soaps need that character that isn't related to anyone.

    • It surprises/disappoints me too that GL's ratings during '89-'93 don't reflect the quality of the show. But when I call it great soap, I'm not defining that by ratings either.  I'm probably in the minority, but I think Reilly takes something intangible with him when he goes. There's a sense of humor that just disappears in '93.
    • Ok, I know nothing about Another World except their catchy intro song from long ago, but this makes me want to catch!  That crazy mother keeping her son's girlfriend or wife hostage, wow!
    • And maybe Hotel could have been placed at 9pm Tues instead of Paper Dolls. Not that I thing it was a surefire thing but at least viewers were familiar with the show and it might have done better than PD. ABC's line up was pretty threadbare at that point. And with a big guest star to launch the season - Elizabeth Taylor- the numbers would have been there initially.
    • Any fan of RuPaul would dispute calling any of these examples “drag”. A costume?, A disguise?, A lame attempt at humor? -- yes -- Drag? -- nope
    • No asterisk. I meant that the circumstances during the first year were in her favor.
    • Maybe I am misunderstanding you? Are you suggesting that her success at GL should have an asterisk next to it because she was smart enough to exploit a weakness in the marketplace to gain ratings?  Note: Try not to take this personally—I’m not accusing anyone of being consciously misogynistic. I’m simply proposing that the origins of certain ideas about Ms. Phelps—such as claims that she was unprepared or a poor manager of her writing staff—may be rooted in misogyny. Perhaps, with the benefit of hindsight, it's worth reconsidering those opinions. At the very least, imagine being one of the few women in the room while a male network executive tries to decide what women want to watch during the day. That context has certainly led me to reassess many of my own long-held views.
    • Through 78 and 79 under Marland and Pat Falken smith GH was still heavily hospital based with a mix of storylines. The Doctors would have been fine had they followed that template. Once GH went with Ice Princess all bets were off.Who knows how much TD would have copied that direction? And OLTL, DOOL went in that direction quite heavily while other shows dabbled in far out stories. The thing is that TD was well set up for an expansion.

    • Aaron Spelling still had clout with ABC in Fall 1984, as I think they knew he was going to pull out all the stops for Dynasty to get to #1, which he did. That's probably why ABC kept Hotel as Dynasty lead out. Fall 1985 with the sale to Capital Cities and Brandon Stoddard arrival, Aaron Spelling would lose his clout with ABC.
    • Correction, July 1991 to May 1995. JFP got the ratings up during her first year, but it also helped that ABC big three were tanking at various times during that year and Days was in their post-supercouple/pre-Reilly mess era. It will always disappoint me that the ratings during the Calhoun/Long/Curlee era did not reflect the quality of the show.
