Anyway, Rachel was firmly on Marlena's side and knew Kristen was evil.  She tried very hard to get Kristen (and Peter) to be better people.  Rachel's greatest fear was that her children would turn out like Stefano and Rachel was always a good person.

So, I did remember correctly. Thanks!

I hope we get a twist or something and this lady turns out not to be Rachel Blake.

I'm still at the beginning of Thursday's episode, but yeah that is funny that Rachel would make it all the way to Aremid considering it used to be quite a drive, so much so that I distinctly remember Marlena and an amnesiac Stefano taking a private plane to get there in time to see "Tony" just before he died (nevermind the fact that there was a "terrible storm" that prevented them from taking "Tony" to a nearby hospital, all the while Marlena & Stefano get there just fine by plane, but whatevs, it was 1995, I can let it go now, lol)

Now I'm curious how she got over those mountains, that are in danger of having an avalanche 😂😂

On the other hand, Julie's grief is being written with surprising sensitivity.  Except for the unnecessary Cat sighting.  I really liked that Julie is more focused on her mourning than the mystery of the necklace, or whatever is happening with Doug3.  It feels more organic, and DAYS always shocks me when they are able to balance the absurd with human drama. That mix is definitively DAYS for me.

Those scenes were the saving grace of today's episode.

Also from the Aremid wiki, I laughed at this detail: Rachel called John, who was a young priest, over to her house to talk about Stefano. Stefano eventually planted a bomb in Rachel's husband's car, but Rachel was also in the car when the bomb went off. Rachel lived, but was badly scarred. Stefano believed that Rachel was dead and he kidnapped and brainwashed John because John knew that Stefano killed the Blake's. One of the thousand retcons of John's origin story with Stefano.

So, that's why Stefano kidnapped a priest and turned him into Roman... before it was retconned 😂😂

I always wondered what the original explanation was.

It's kind of a scam if Marlena charges Julie for therapy.

It wasn't like she used her specialized hypnosis powers, or prescribed meds.  She is just talking like they would if Marlena went over to the Horton House for tea.  And considering Marlena got Doug possessed by the devil, you'd think she would offer her services gratis. 😉🥵

Note: I know Doug was possessed first, but the devil wouldn't have been in Salem if it wasn't looking for Marlena...

I'm caught up now as far as Thursday.

I can't believe it but Sofia's mother is just such a witch & also it's not about best situation for her daughter, no to her this is about ideology!

I've said this before. It's even truer now. Onward to Friday's show.

And, I think this is a means of bringing back Peter Blake

I hope you're right, and I hope it's the OG actor.

IIRC, this retcon was the one Drake had the most issue with.  It went directly against what aired with John getting his name from a Vietnam War Memorial plaque in 1986.   I am sure over the years as the retcons got sillier he probably just gave up on accuracy, but this is the only retcon I remember Drake speaking out about.

If he gave up, I don't blame him 😂

And all it would have taken was just a little bit more research on JER's part. They could've even written a scene, in 1996, where John spoke with Marlena about getting the name from the plaque and thinking that he picked the name 'John Black' because, subconsciously, the name John rang a bell.

Sally Sussman Morina kinda screwed things up more than anyone 😂

Spoiler

They hired Michael Dietz for a limited run, so I assume it will be him

@carolineg, @AbcNbc247 it's simple, John was an adopted, almost drowned, jewel thieving, ninja warrior, Catholic priest, who was hypnotized into going to Greece to fake the killing of a woman's child, and then assumed the identity of a small-town cop.  I don't know why we think anyone messed up the continuity? 😉😎

Well said.

I think, by this point, all the holes are filled in 😂

Loving how the show is handling Julie’s grief.

I’ve never heard Kristen discuss her mother before or her pre evil life, so that was interesting. Had me wishing it was Eileen though.

The original Rachel Blake seemed like a decent person who had suffered a lot, and Marlena tried to help her.

Kristen and Peter Blake were sociopaths who considered killing their mother Rachel Blake because she was in the way of their plans, but they were interrupted and didn't follow through.

One major problem. It was known that he was not Remus, Romulus was lying the whole time. No, not a jewel thief. No one will believe this version, it was known. She was lying. Never happened. But, besides, that   yeah. The rest is true.

Holy cow! I didn’t know that!
