Peton Meyer has been cast as Doug Williams the 3rd, he first airs December 3rd

I thought that was Eric Matsolf for a second.

So, I'm guessing he's gonna be Dougie's son.

I don't mind it. Peyton Meyer was pretty good on Girl Meets World. He actually came to mind when I heard they were aging Johnny in 2021.

And it's always good to get some new blood. 

I'm happy about who he's playing, but his actual name makes no damn sense.

Probably some in-script change of Douglas LeClaire to Doug Williams Jnr.

Of course, you're right since his father wasn't named Doug Williams, Jr. so I guess it's just a liberty they decided they could take & I guess they think they need to, which I find doubtful, but to make clear the relationship. OY.

That's exactly my thought (unless that's part of his con 😉)

I had assumed he'd be playing Stephen's son.

I was actually thinking about this for a moment. Setting aside the fact that they live in an alternate universe where people age overnight, and children go to European boarding schools but never learn a foreign language, at some point Brent Douglas must have legally changed his name to Doug Williams.  He traveled internationally, so he had a passport which required a birth certificate.  And, his daughter was named Hope Williams, so he must have changed it prior to her birth.

Now, this does not affect if Dougie LeClaire changed his name.  But, it is not outside the realm of credulity that Dougie named his son Doug the III, in honor of his biological father.

Who happened to be his best friend, benefactor & the person responsible for him having "Little Dougie" in his life, sure, what would be more honorable than that?

If he is who he says he is, Doug was the biological father of his father, "Little Dougie", so Doug Williams is his biological grandfather. But, when "Little Dougie" was a very young child, his adoptive father, Robert, and Rebecca moved away & he's never been to Salem before & never met these people. They moved to France, didn't they? Do you recall Robert from Doug's Place?

I like the idea of this and wish they did more of this instead of the usual trend of creating people out of thin air. A good example would be the convoluted story Y&R told where they created a dead, unknown sibling to the Abbott's and made Theo an Abbott/Brooks when they could've just made him the son of Brooks Prentiss. 

I've wanted Days to do something with Sandy Horton to revitalize the family, but this could be good as well. I just hope Ron didn't pre-emptively kill off his father like he did to Eli's dad. I would love to see the new writers bring Dougie on. 

I also think considering all that's been going on, it wouldn't be a bad time to bring on Scotty. 

It's a pity that Days ignored so much history for decades and that entire generations have been ignored/killed off.

Sandy's family, Steve Olsen and family,another child for Tom Jr,Melissa's other child and so on.

With attention and respect to the Hortons, there would have been a steady flow of new characters to bolster that family.
