You are totally right. Which is why I was annoyed with the New/Old Writers when they started to write Ava as Whiny Ava again. As if Ava NEVER picked up a gun. As if Ava NEVER used her wiles to get what she wanted. As if Ava WAS NOT JUST seducing Wagger in a masterclass a week before Kristina a week ago and now Wagger is outwitting her? HER??? GIRL, BYE. 

 

And I'm not even touching on her and that agent.

Ava had men wrapped around her finger. Carlos Rivera?! Ava was a femme fatale. She was a woman in a man's world, and played by their rules. Then she suddenly needed Sonny's protection? After marrying/divorcing the Cassadine family? No. That storyline should've played itself: a Jerome marrying a Cassadine is a power play. When Julian married Alexis... neither really lost their entities, yet Ava has continued to lose who she is at her core. I agree: things needed to change for Ava to become viable in a way outside of the Jerome crime family... but fück she didn't need a lobotomy for it.

Exactly!! Like Sonny has his coffee beans, Ava has her art. So a legit business to run things through if she so chooses.

They had their chance with the marriage to Nikolas to have her be part of society and have those connections while still maintaining an edge. And Nikolas could have been conflicted as he also at times embraced his Cassadine side.

Alan tried to kill Rick and Monica, more than once. They cheated on each other many times. Monica conspired with Sean Donnelly to take the Q fortune. Ava may be more awful than both of them, but they had a shot to recreate that kind of dynamic. Instead they went the trite direction of a damsel in distress finding her prince, like a fairytale. Ava is only isolated because they write the show in such a shortsighted way.

Welp, you were wrong. Kelly was fired. Sam is being killed. Her first day back in the studio, since the news broke, was yesterday & she had this bandage on her right arm, said she'd had a bad burn. Things pretty much suck. Or so it seems. She has about 3 weeks of shows to tape.

You don’t know much. When did you last watch?

You guys have gotten me excited at the prospect of Ric and Ava. Now I’m going to be disappointed if the show doesn’t go there.

So many Twitter stans squawk when Ava is written as who Ava is. A lot of them seem to just want a somewhat more hard-edged Carly Snyder. Ava being Ava is suddenly 'character assassination.'

I don't know whether PM was going to write her out; there are two schools of thought and two competing BTS stories out there. I do know keeping her dark and nasty is what I prefer, and if that means Maura goes off-contract and swans in and out from time to time and does stints to keep Ava in play so be it. But many past GH or other soap villains have proven that going off-contract is not necessarily required to continue. It's a question of how you keep them protected in story via power and influence. I always reference the Alex Olanov solution from OLTL (where Alex went from a wanted psychopath drowning women at Loon Lake to a protected mob wife, a Buchanan bride and then the mayor) but dammit, it worked.
